Is it possible to travel in time to the past? Six time travel theories that might work. We remember ourselves

The story of John Titor and other cases of time travel.

1.· In 1912, while a train was moving from London to Glasgow, a man appeared out of nowhere in his hands with a long whip and a bitten piece of bread.

In the first minutes he was in shock; the train passengers could not calm him down. Having come to his senses, the man said: “I am Pimp Drake, a coachman from Chetnam. Where I am? Where am I?".

Drake claimed to be from the 18th century. A few minutes later he disappeared back. Experts from the National Museum confidently asserted that the objects that remained after the arrival of an alien from the past date back to the end of the 18th century.

As a result, it turned out that such a village really existed, and moreover, that the coachman Pimp Drake, born in the middle of the 18th century, worked there.

2.· From the NYPD archives: In November 1956, an unknown man was hit and killed on Broadway. The driver and witnesses claimed that he appeared out of nowhere.

In his pocket they found an identification card and business cards on which it was written where he lived, that he worked as a traveling salesman, and so on.

The police found such a person in the archives and interviewed relatives and people who lived nearby. An old woman was found who claimed that her father disappeared about 60 years ago in unknown circumstances: he went for a walk along Broadway and did not return.

A photograph taken in 1884 of her father completely confirmed that this was the man who was hit by the car.

3. Several years ago, a certain Andrew Karl-sin was arrested in New York on charges of fraud.

Having invested less than a thousand dollars in shares, after 2 weeks he earned 350 million bucks on the stock exchange.

It is noteworthy that the trading operations he carried out initially did not promise winning at all. State authorities accused Karlsin of obtaining information that was profitable for himself through illegal means, since they found no other reasons for such an astonishing result.

Although all experts agree that even with complete information about the companies where he invested money, it is impossible to earn so much and in such a period
However, during interrogation, Karlsin unexpectedly stated that he allegedly appeared from 2256 and, having information about all banking transactions over the past years, decided to enrich himself.

He categorically refused to show his time machine, but made a tempting offer for the authorities - to report several upcoming important events that will happen soon in the world, including the whereabouts of Bin Laden and the invention of a cure for AIDS...

According to unverified reports, someone posted a million dollar bail for him to get out of prison, after which Karlsin disappeared, apparently forever...

4. A strange incident occurred in a small California town in the summer of 1936. A frightened old woman, unknown to anyone, appeared on his street, dressed in an old-fashioned way.

She literally shied away from passers-by offering her help. Her unusual outfit and strange behavior attracted curious people: after all, everyone in this town knew each other, and the appearance of such a colorful figure did not go unnoticed.

When the old woman saw people gathering around her, she looked around in despair and confusion and suddenly disappeared in front of dozens of eyewitnesses.

5. Time plays nasty tricks not only on individuals; it can also play tricks on very impressive objects.

American parapsychologists claim that the Pentagon has classified a striking incident that occurred with one of the submarines.

The submarine was in the waters of the notorious Bermuda Triangle when it suddenly disappeared, literally moments later a signal from it was received from... the Indian Ocean.

However, this incident with the submarine was not limited to just moving it in space over a huge distance; quite a significant time travel also occurred: the crew of the submarine literally aged 20 years in tens of seconds.

6. Even more terrible incidents sometimes happen to airplanes.

In 1997, W magazine W. News spoke about a mysterious DC-4 plane that landed in Caracas (Venezuela) in 1992.

This plane was seen by airport employees, although it did not give any mark on the radar. Soon we managed to contact the pilot. In a surprised and even frightened voice, the pilot announced that he was operating charter flight 914 from New York to Miami with 54 passengers on board and was scheduled to land at 9:55 a.m. on June 2, 1955, at the end he asked: “Where are we?”

Stunned by the pilot's message, the air traffic controllers told him that he was over the airport in Caracas and gave him permission to land.

The pilot did not answer, but during landing everyone heard his surprised exclamation: "Jimmy! What the hell is this! The American pilot was clearly surprised by the jet plane taking off at that time...

The mysterious plane landed safely, its pilot was breathing heavily, and finally he said: "Something is wrong here". When informed that he had landed on May 21, 1992, the pilot exclaimed: "Oh my God!"

They tried to calm him down and said that a ground team was already heading towards him. However, seeing airport employees next to the plane, the pilot shouted: “Don't come any closer! We're flying out of here!"

The ground crew saw the astonished faces of the passengers through the windows, and the DC-4 pilot cracked open his cockpit window and waved a magazine at them, demanding that they stay away from the plane.

He started the engines, the plane took off and disappeared. Did he manage to get there in due time? Unfortunately, the further fate of the crew and passengers of the plane is unknown, since the magazine did not report any historical investigation into this case.

As evidence of this unusual incident, a recording of conversations with the DC-4 and a calendar for 1955, which fell out of the magazine that the pilot was waving, remained at the Caracas airport...

7. A resident of Sevastopol, retired naval sailor Ivan Pavlovich Zalygin has been studying the problem of time travel for the last fifteen years.

The captain of the second rank became interested in this phenomenon after a very curious and mysterious incident that happened to him in the late 80s of the last century in the Pacific Ocean, while serving as deputy commander of a diesel submarine.

During one of the training trips in the La Perouse Strait area, the boat was caught in a severe thunderstorm. The submarine commander decided to take a surface position.

As soon as the ship surfaced, the sailor on watch reported that he saw an unidentified craft right ahead.

You will soon find out that a Soviet submarine stumbled upon a rescue boat located in international waters, in which the submariners found a half-dead frostbitten man in... the uniform of a Japanese naval sailor from the Second World War.

When examining the personal belongings of the rescued man, an award parabellum was found, as well as documents issued on September 14, 1940.

After the report to the base command, the boat was ordered to go to the port of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, where counterintelligence was already waiting for the Japanese naval sailor.

GRU officers signed a non-disclosure agreement to not disclose this fact for the next ten years.

8. In 1966, three brothers walked early New Year's morning along one of the streets of Glasgow. Suddenly, 19-year-old Alex disappeared in front of his older brothers. All attempts to find him were unsuccessful. Alex disappeared without a trace and was never seen again.

9. Photo in the Bralorne Pioneer Museum virtual museum with the rather boring title “Reopening of the South Fork Bridge after flood in Nov. 1940. 1941 (?)” became a minor sensation.

The public claims that it shows a time traveler. The reason for this was some features of his clothes and a portable camera in his hands: he is wearing sunglasses, which were not worn in the 40s, a T-shirt with an advertising logo, a sweater in the fashion of the 21st century, a hairstyle that was not done in those days and portable camera.

10. John Titor - the time traveler who predicted war

John Titor is a man from the future who has appeared on the Internet on forums, blogs and various websites since 2000. John claimed that he was a time traveler and arrived here from 2036.

He was originally sent in 1975 to collect information about the IBM-5100 computer, as his grandfather worked on the creation of this computer and programmed on it, but he stopped in 2000 for personal reasons. On forums he talked about future events. Some of them have already happened: the war in Iraq, the conflict in the US presidential elections of 2004 and 2008. He also talked about the third world war.

This is the bleak future of our planet: a second civil war will split America into 5 factions with the new capital in Omaha. In 2017, the Third World War will break out, resulting in losses of three billion people.

Then, to top it all off, there will be a computer crash that will destroy the world as we know it. That is, it will be so unless a brave time traveler crosses the space-time continuum to change the course of history.

This was at the end of 2000. The poster on various forums took on the online aliases “TimeTravel_0” and “John Titor,” and claimed to be a soldier sent from the year 2036, the year a computer virus destroyed the world. His mission was to return to 1975 to find and capture the IBM 5100 computer, which had everything he needed to fight the virus (and he went to 2000 to meet his 3-year-old self, ignoring the paradox of the very fabric of time from the stories about time travel).

Over the next four months, Titor answered all the questions that the other participants had, describing future events in the spirit of poetic phrases, and always pointing out that there are other realities and our reality may not be his own.

In between grim calls to learn first aid and not eat beef - in his reality, mad cow disease was a serious threat - Titor, using extremely difficult algorithms, revealed some technical aspects about how time travel works and provided grainy photographs of his time machine.

On March 24, 2001, Titor gave his last piece of advice (“Take a gas can with you when you abandon your car on the side of the road”), logged out forever, and headed back. Since then he has not appeared again.

Titor's story is from a time when we were all so innocent, a time less than 15 years ago, just before everything started to change. And the legend of Titor persists partly because no one has ever claimed to be its creator.

Since the mystery has not been solved, the legend continues. "The John Titor story is popular because some stories just get popular," says writer and producer Brian Denning, who specializes in the Titor story.

Among all the stories about ghosts, demonic voices, hoaxes or rumors floating around the Internet, something is becoming popular. Why shouldn't the story about Titor become so popular? Although there is (tiny, almost scientifically impossible) another possibility.

“One of the keys to unlocking Titor,” Temporal Recon wrote in an email, “is accepting the possibility that time travel may be true.”

The great thing about time travel is that history cannot be disproved. If events do not happen as the time traveler said, it is because he changed the course of history.

And yet...if this man John Titor wanted to promote himself, then why did he disappear forever?! Whether the special services took him away or whether he went back is a mystery.

Time travel is an entertaining plot device in science fiction stories and films. Many stories involve time travel involving a ship traveling at the speed of light. True, we have nothing to test the theory with, due to the lack of such a ship.

In other stories, time travel involves circumstances such as coming close to a very massive object, like a black hole. Unfortunately, the above methods are very limited, because movement is only allowed into the future, due to local time dilation in relation to other objects.

The possibility of traveling through time is of great interest and awakens the imagination. It is easier and more convenient to travel to another time using an exotic device (time machine), since you can travel in both directions. But we don’t have a car either, or at least nothing is known about it.

However, is it even possible to deceive the nature of time in order to travel to the future, even if it is hypothetically possible?

It is important to remember that we are traveling into the future every second. This is the nature of space-time. This is why we remember the past (instead of “remembering” the future). The future is largely unpredictable because it has not yet happened, but we are always heading towards it.

If we want to influence the process and look into the future ahead of the events happening around us, then can we do something to realize our desire? This is a good question without a definitive answer.

Why no final one? Because right now we do not have the opportunity, but we cannot say about the technologies of the future. Perhaps it’s enough to just sit back and wait for a device to be created in the future and go back in time.

JOURNEY TO THE FUTURE AND RELATIVITY.

It certainly sounds surprising, but the transition in time can be accelerated. Although this only happens in short periods of time. This has already been verified by astronauts who have gone beyond the Earth. That is, we have a precedent for traveling to the future!

Can this happen over longer periods of time? Theoretically yes, according to Einstein's theory of relativity. The key is the speed of an object: the faster an object moves through space, the slower time passes compared to an observer moving more slowly.

A classic demonstration of future travel is the twin paradox. The example works like this: take a pair of twins who are 20 years old and living on Earth. The first takes off in a spaceship on a five-year journey at the speed of light.

This twin survives the journey for five years and returns to Earth at the age of 25. While the second twin remaining on earth celebrated his 95th birthday! The double on the ship, having lived only five years, returned to Earth in the future. It's all about speed and relativity. Although you can add words about the considerable complexity of the mechanisms of relativity, which gives rise to paradoxes.
GRAVITY AND TIME TRAVEL.

In much the same way that moving at near the speed of light can slow down perceived time, strong gravitational fields can slow down perceived time. The energy of the field can create the effect of time travel (if you remember, a black hole, for example, has an “event horizon”, this is a wonderful region where even time disappears).

Gravity affects movement in space as well as the flow of time. Time passes more slowly for an observer located inside the gravity well of a massive object. The stronger gravity is, the more it affects the passage of time, while an outside observer lives in normal time. But what is interesting is that both observers, relative to themselves, live in the usual time.

Astronauts on the International Space Station experience a combination of these effects, albeit on a much smaller scale. Since they move quite fast and orbit the Earth (a massive body with gravity), time slows down for them relative to people on Earth. And although the difference is only seconds during their time in space, it is measurable.

CAN WE TRAVEL TO THE FUTURE?

Until we develop a way to approach the speed of light and test the theory of time distortion, this can only be speculated. We also cannot travel near black holes and experience time travel to a significant distance into the future - again, there is no technology.

Another problem appears here. Let's say, going into the future at a speed close to light, or with the help of monstrous gravitational forces, how to calculate the time of the jump? The ship will require acceleration to the speed of light - this is already a local time warp. Immersion in a gravitational field – and by how much?

Okay, let's set up an experimental test, say a time jump of a day. However, even one second of error will lead (in both cases) to the fact that the sent object can “pop up” in the future hundreds or tens of hundreds of years later! Well, who will come to us to tell us about a successful experiment, a traveler to the past? – then we will have to wait for the invention of the time machine.

JOURNEY TO THE PAST.

Traveling into the past is not possible based on existing technology. That's the point... But we'll continue.

The possibility of going back in time is denied, citing the well-known paradox of “going back in time and killing your grandfather.” This is how the impossibility of transition is expressed: the grandson will not be able to kill the grandfather, because he has already killed him, so the grandson does not exist and cannot return to the past to perform a vile act against the grandfather and himself... that is, some effects may arise that destroy the sequence of events.

I don’t know how my own grandfather annoyed the creator of the “paradox,” but it seems that the dubious argument says one thing: since you were born, then everything is fine with your grandfather. Yes, in fact, there is no paradox here, since all conclusions about the evolution of the time-space-consequences chain do not have expressed uncertainty - the past has already taken place.

Moving along the path of “events that have already taken place” of the past, the convention of paradoxes can be discarded - these are hypothetical restrictions in time-events that have not been confirmed experimentally. In general, there is a plentiful number of hypotheses on this topic, which expands with the appearance of a new film or book.

In fact, there are most likely no restrictions on time travel into the past. Paradoxes are as absent as time loops; entropy is unlikely to explode if you shake hands with your other self on occasion or try to make changes in the past - everything that happened is already recorded on the fabric of reality, so no one can destroy the sequence of events.

Thus, we choose one, without restrictions on traveling to the past. And if you haven't met time travelers yet, then this can only indicate a couple of things;
a) the time machine has not yet been invented, remaining an exotic device;
b) travelers to the past are the same people as we are, so it is difficult to identify them as people from the future.

Everyone would probably not mind having the opportunity to travel back in time to correct something in the past or spy on the future. It's just a pity that this is impossible. Or is it possible?

If you believe the stories in this collection - and they seem very realistic - some people have managed to deceive the laws of physics and logic and jump through time and space.

1. Rudolf Fenz

In 1951, in New York, a man in a traditional 19th-century outfit was seen, who was sincerely surprised by the cars driving around the city. As it turned out later, this same man went missing in 1876. The stranger’s “belonging to the last century” was confirmed by the contents of his pockets. But even this did not convince some scientists who believe that the story of Rudolf Fentz is nothing more than a legend.

2. Chronovisor

In one of his books, Father Francois Brun, a French priest, said that his colleague Pellegrino Ernetti, who was also a scientist, developed a certain machine that allowed him to see through time and space. Such statements caused a lot of noise, but official confirmation of the existence of the chronovisor never appeared.

3. Ettore Majorana

On March 27, 1938, Italian scientist Ettore Majorana disappeared on his boat in the waters between Palermo and Naples. The disappearance became a sensation. All authorities searched for Majorana, but even a trace of the scientist could not be found. Only in 1955 in Argentina they found a man exactly like Ettore. Analysis of the photos of the two men confirmed the high probability that they depict the same person. And since almost two decades later Majorana had hardly changed at all, many decided that he simply invented a time machine and traveled with it.

4. Nicolas Cage

Tentatively, this photo of “Nicolas Cage from the past” was taken in 1870. Although no one knows for certain who exactly is depicted in the picture, it was sold on eBay for a million dollars.

5. Charlotte Moberly and Eleanor Jourdain

In 1911, a pair of these English scientists and writers published the book "Adventure" under the pseudonyms of Elizabeth Morison and Frances Lamont. The women claimed that they were able to return to the past, and also talked about their meeting with the ghost of Marie Antoinette. The reading, it must be said, was not very convincing and caused a lot of indignation.

6. Hakan Nordqvist

Swede Hakan Nordqvist uploaded a video to YouTube in which he supposedly met his future self from the present. The author claimed that he got to 2042 thanks to the bedside table under the sink, where the portal was located - the guy found it when he began to repair the pipe. However, as we found out later, this video was nothing more than an advertisement for one insurance company.

7. "The Philadelphia Experiment"

This is the name given to a US Navy test conducted during World War II in which the USS Eldridge jumped back in time for 10 seconds and became invisible to radar. Alas, many experts consider this story to be an ordinary fiction.

The Swiss Meyer claims that he communicated with aliens. The latter allegedly kidnapped him and returned him to the past, where he took several photos of dinosaurs, which, unfortunately, did not convince critics of the veracity of Billy's story.

9. Iranian time traveler

In 2003, the Iranian Fars news agency spread the news that a 27-year-old scientist managed to develop a time machine with which people could see the future. But within a few days there was a refutation of this amazing story.

10. Andrew Karlssin

In January 2003, he was arrested on suspicion of financial fraud. Andrew made 126 very risky trades, all of which were successful. His starting capital was only $800. After completing the transactions, Karlssin’s fortune increased to 350 million. Later in reports, he stated that he simply visited the future and even knew where Osama bin Laden was hiding.

11. “A man handing a letter to a woman in the hallway of a house.”

This was the name of the painting that Tim Cook admired while at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Is it a coincidence that the letter depicted on the canvas is shaped very much like an iPhone? The similarity also surprised Cook, who says that he always knew perfectly well the dates of the invention of the Apple smartphone, but now he began to doubt his knowledge...

12. Chaplin's Time Travels

In 2010, director George Clarke posted a video clip of footage from Charlie Chaplin's films on the Internet. At some point, a woman appears on the screen talking on a cell phone. At least, her pose strongly indicates this. But since we are talking about footage edited in 1928, many critics, skeptics and scientists have come to the conclusion that, most likely, the movie heroine is simply holding a hearing aid or fixing her hair.

13. "Fort Apache"

The film was filmed in 1948. While traveling on a stagecoach, actor Henry Fonda's character took out something that looked like an iPhone to get directions. Seeing this, the audience caused a real commotion - where did the modern gadget come from in the film of 1948? But experts hastened to reassure everyone and assured that this something in Fonda’s hand was just a notebook.

14. Eugene Helton

A rather eccentric man who calls himself VonHelton and shows himself in photographs from different periods of history. In his opinion, this proves his ability to travel through time. But don’t forget that Eugene sometimes calls himself a vampire and periodically asks NASA for the coordinates of the “space fleet.”

15. CD box

In the 1800s painting, some people were holding a CD case. But it really does look like it!

16. The Montauk Project

One of the US Air Force experiments related to time travel, which, like the Philadelphia Experiment, is not taken seriously by scientists.

17. Mike Tyson vs. Peter Mac Neely

At a 1995 fight, a man was seen in the stands holding an object that looked very much like a smartphone. The photo of the “unidentified object” became the subject of intense debate, but in the end, those discussing it came to the conclusion that it was just an old digital camera.

18. DuPont factory worker

In the crowd of workers leaving the factory after a day of work, one woman stands out, who seems to be talking on a mobile phone. And a lady claiming to be the granddaughter of the lady in the photo confirmed that her relative was indeed testing out the new wireless device.

19. John Titor

From 2000 to 2001, the name of a certain Internet user John Titor was heard, who claimed that he had arrived from the future - 2036 - on a military mission. “Messiah” assured that in 2008 the United States would be destroyed during a civil war, and then, in 2015, the world would be subjected to a nuclear attack. After his predictions did not come true, John Titor disappeared from all radars and made no more predictions.

20. Film about civil defense of the 50s

In the video, the board says "Game 2 Giants 9 Rangers 0" along with the words "C," "No," and "Warning." College football fans quickly realized that this was the actual score from Game 2 of the 2010 World Series between the Giants and Rangers.

21. Andrew Basiago and William Stillings

In 2004, American lawyer Basiago claimed that he was part of time travel experiments that the government conducted in the 70s. According to Andrew, he visited the Civil War and even visited Mars. Soon Basiago’s words were confirmed by several more people, among whom was William Stillings. All of them stated that they also participated in experiments during which the United States sent about 100 thousand people to a secret base on Mars, of which only 7 thousand managed to survive.

22. Tim Jones

In the early 2000s, a man calling himself Tim Jones sent out emails asking recipients for a “dimensional strain generator.” In the end it turned out that this was the work of spammer Robert Jay. Todino, who actually believes he has the ability to travel through time.

23. Man from the future at the opening of the bridge

He earned the nickname "time-traveling hipster." He was spotted in a photo from the opening of a bridge in British Columbia in 1941. The man caught my eye because he was wearing a printed T-shirt, dark glasses, and was also holding a camera, which did not exist at that time. But skeptics, of course, argue that this is not a time traveler, and all the doubtful things could easily be bought in many stores already in 1941.

It turns out that Nicolas Cage is not the only actor traveling through time. John Travolta, for example, also visited the past. Around 1860. Oddly enough, the photo of the “actor” was also put up for sale on eBay. But the fact that the seller is asking only 50 thousand dollars for the photo is strange.

25. Unknown time traveler

According to the theory of relativity, fast movement greatly slows down the passage of time. That is, if you go into Space at a speed close to the speed of light, you can eventually return to Earth in about 100 years. This means that, in principle, travel to the future, from a physical point of view, is permissible. But science does not know how to return to the past. And even if someone managed to break the space-time continuum, we will not know the result of the experiment - sending a message is problematic!

In the spring of 2003, the unknown Andrew Karlsin, using $800, earned $350 million on the stock exchange, conducting 126 transactions in two weeks. The US Securities Market Commission suspected Karlsin of receiving insider information from company owners, and the man was detained by the FBI. After interrogation, he admitted that... he arrived from 2256 in a time machine to make money on historical information. The weekly tabloid Weekly World News wrote about this, posting a photo of 44-year-old Karlsin. Later, unknown persons paid a bail of $1 million for the man and no one saw him again. This fantastic story would more likely pass for the plot of the movie "Back to the Future 2", if not for a number of statements by scientists in recent months.

At the end of March 2017, Popular Mechanics published material about the possibility of time travel using the principles of quantum mechanics. Today there are three known methods of teleportation. The first has been described many times by science fiction writers - the body moves through the “rabbit hole” of time. The second method involves biotechnologically disassembling a person or objects into molecules that are easier to teleport individually, and then collecting them at the point of arrival. And the third method - it seems to scientists the most probable, although it sounds absolutely fantastic. A person is scanned at the atomic level, then the information is sent to the point of arrival and there a new body is created from existing materials with information embedded in the molecules of the transmitted information. This method is reminiscent of scientists’ attempt to place the human brain on the World Wide Web, creating human-based artificial intelligence.

Let us note that teleportation itself—moving at a distance—has already taken place in 2012 and 2014 in London by physicists. And in the fall of 2016, these experiments were successfully repeated in Canada and China. Canadian scientists moved photons - particles of light - 6 km, and the Chinese moved twice as far - 12.5 kilometers. For now, only teleportation of photons and atoms is possible. Thanks to a property called “quantum entanglement” in quantum mechanics, a change in a particle can be instantly transmitted to another particle that has an information connection. As a result, one particle can influence another and also transfer properties to it. This phenomenon can be called the quantum Internet, which will become cosmically fast. That is, we are talking about the first stage of teleporation.

Foreign scientists believe that human teleportation is possible by 2050-2080. Today's failure is due to the lack of the necessary technologies, since it is necessary to form the architecture of the human body at the mathematical and biotechnological level. That is, take on the role of God, the Architect. The technology shortage can be compared to the desire to introduce wireless cellular communications and cordless phones in the 1930s. You can know how to do this theoretically, but the lack of compact transistors - microchips - will force you to wait for the development of technology.

True, there was one video recording from 1938, where a girl walks through the territory of the industrial giant Dupont, talking on a compact mobile phone. Conspiracy theorists rushed to write the girl down as a time traveler, but in 2013, the grandson of the “girl” - Gertrude Jones - was found, who discovered the secret. Dupont was researching mobile radio communications and the girl was given a device to test, and she spoke to a man who was walking not far from her with the same handset.

There are hundreds of stories of people who saw “time travelers,” but the most popular are reliable photos and videos. One of the most popular and still unsolved is a photo from 1940 - the opening of the South Fork bridge over the river in the Canadian province of British Columbia. In the photo, the guy’s appearance was radically different from the style of the 1940s-1950s. He is wearing fashionable sunglasses, a printed T-shirt and a cardigan - a knitted sweater-jacket, and a hairstyle in the style of the 1990s. But even if you believe his fashionable visions, there is no way to explain a compact camera that was several decades ahead of its time. Experts who studied the image are confident that there is no computer manipulation. The person is present in different photographs from different angles, taken by different photographers.

Photo: virtualmuseum.ca

It’s hard to say whether the guy ended up in the past by accident or on purpose. There is a high probability that people can be divided into travelers and “passengers” who find themselves in a natural zone of time travel. One of the most popular travelers from the future was the American John Titor in early 2000. He appeared on the Internet on forums, blogs and claimed that he arrived from 2036. The only reason why he was not mistaken for a schizophrenic, but continued to be listened to and discussed, was the knowledge of complex software algorithms with the help of which time travel occurs. He also predicted the war in Iraq, the conflict in the US presidential elections in 2004 and 2008. According to him, the Third World War began in 2015, during which about three billion people will die. Then a global computer crash will occur, destroying the usual infrastructure.

A civil war will begin in the United States, which will split America into five factions with the capital in Omaha. A computer virus will force humanity to return to agriculture for the sake of survival, but the global network will partially work. Titor himself is allegedly a soldier sent in 1975 to collect information about the IBM-5100 computer, as his grandfather worked on the creation of the computer. The old model should help defeat the virus, although he did not explain how. And in 2000 he came to meet his three-year-old self. On March 24, 2001, Titor gave his final advice: “Take a can of gasoline with you when you abandon your car on the side of the road.” Then he logged out and headed back. Since then no one has heard from him again.

Like Karlsin, Titor is perhaps a conscious traveler. No one saw him, but Karlsin was photographed, but still not identified. Moreover, Wall Street traders are confident that all 126 transactions worth $350 million could not have been calculated, even with secret information. Some shares rose in price for completely unexpected reasons, including political, military, and natural phenomena. It is impossible to collect secret information on 100 companies and do everything in two weeks, and using $800, get $350 million. It is suspicious that the Weekly World News website completely removed all information about Karlsin, despite the fact that it is not above roasting stories. He deleted all messages from his journalists about the investigation of the traveler and the Yahoo News portal.

If stories of “time tourists” are rare, then random “passengers” are no less common than evidence of UFOs. True, witnesses are not always able to take photographs. So in 1932, the reporter of the German newspaper Hutton and the photographer Brandt inevitably found themselves in a different time. Journalists went to a shipyard in Hamburg to report. Upon their return, they stated that they miraculously survived the bombing by unknown aircraft. Brandt took photographs of the city burning from hundreds of bombs, but the film turned out to be empty. The editor-in-chief advised not to abuse alcohol, and 11 years later, when Hamburg was completely destroyed by aviation during Operation Gomorrah, he remembered the story. 600 bombs were dropped on the city, a firestorm killed 40 thousand people.

All “passengers” can be considered victims of the “Bermuda Triangle” phenomenon. Over the second half of the twentieth century, this small point on the map of the Earth gained fame as a natural time machine. According to unverified data, the Pentagon classified the incident with the submarine in the 1990s, when the boat passed Bermuda. One second it disappeared from radar, and a moment later it made contact from the Indian Ocean. At the same time, the entire crew aged 20 years.

But the Earth is full of places where a person falls, as if into a well, at another time, and after a couple of hours he finds himself at home. A similar incident occurred in 1992 with the Italian Bruno Leone, who disappeared right in front of his wife during their walk together. Two days later Bruno returned, looking very tired and confused. And it’s not surprising, because the disappeared person suddenly moved into the future five centuries ahead. He found himself in the role of a curiosity among identically dressed descendants. When he managed to explain that he was from Italy, it caused great amazement. According to them, such a country ceased to exist in the 21st century. The city of the future seemed uncomfortable and hostile to Bruno, there was not a single old building familiar to him, there were no trees or even bushes growing. The food in the future was not varied; it was replaced by some colorless jellyfish-like jelly - tasteless, but very satisfying. Descendants decided to show him the safest places where he could survive the coming 21st century. disasters. When they started showing him Mongolia and Siberia, he suddenly moved back in time.

If humanity manages to survive the 21st century. Without global upheaval, and in the second half of the century we will be able to teleport, then such travel, first of all, will allow states to take control of crime. Looking a little ahead, it will be possible to prevent murders and robberies at the planning stage. This will lead to a total reduction in well-thought-out, organized crimes and the prevention of everyday ones. At the same time, businesses will be able to organize “aquariums,” parks with animals and plants from a time 20-50 thousand years later, simply by moving people in a safe capsule. Partial entry into the past will allow teachers to show students gladiatorial fights in real life, and to attend the meetings of Alexander the Great and Napoleon.

At the same time, if humanity wants to take control of time into its own hands, then it is ready to either oppose itself to God or take an atheistic position. Since time is an instrument for the destruction of matter, it is intended to demonstrate to man the frailty and immediacy of material wealth, in contrast to eternal spiritual values. Time will tell how far humanity will be allowed to go in its aspirations.

Probably no one would refuse to visit ancient Babylon, to see the mysterious Atlantis and dinosaurs or mammoths with their own eyes. And how many of those who, having committed a rash act, wondered how to return to the past in order to fix everything. Yes, the ability to travel through time has been exciting people's minds since time immemorial.

There are many stories, the most fantastic and not so fantastic, about how people returned to the past or, conversely, moved to the future. And yet, is time travel possible?

Unfortunately, scientists, relying on the laws of logic and science, convince us that today this is unrealistic. In the modern world, there are no technologies that are not subject to the current laws of physics. In addition, time travel itself causes a bunch of paradoxes that violate one of the most important laws of the Universe - the law of causality (that is, the idea that the effect follows directly from the cause). However, scientists put forward all sorts of theories that may well be realized in the future.

Faster than the speed of light

This follows from Einstein's famous theory of relativity. So, if an object reaches a speed higher than the speed of light, then time for it will slow down in relation to the outside world. Is it possible to go back in time this way? From a theoretical point of view - yes. After all, if speeds exceeding the speed of light become available, then time dilation relative to the outside world will allow the object to reach its destination even before launch. However, today the speed of light is the limiting value. And no one has yet managed to exceed it.

According to Einstein's theory of relativity, in order to give an object speed greater than light, a colossal amount of energy is needed - mass becomes larger with increasing speed, and therefore more and more energy is needed. At the moment, such a technology that could reproduce so much energy is simply not available to humanity. Alas. Although in the distant future everything is possible.

Through the Wormhole

Wormholes, or black holes, are peculiar distortions of reality that connect points in space and time. Moreover, this distance between points is much shorter than in a normal environment. Black holes can connect entire universes, distant galaxies, and perhaps even completely different time periods.

However, just as in the situation with speeds exceeding light, all this remains only a theory, not fixed in practice. To date, there is no equipment, no technology, no knowledge to travel through a wormhole. Therefore, the question of whether it is possible to return to the past through a black hole remains open.

Back to the Future

Since today there are no practical possibilities to move into the past, it would be logical to ask a question about the future. After all, it is likely that in tens or hundreds of years people will still be able to figure out a way to return to the past. And if you get into such a “future,” then from there you could go back several thousand years.

Scientists are not so categorical about traveling to the future. At least, if we take into account the laws of physics, then moving into the future seems more realistic. Thus, experiments on temporarily stopping human vital functions have already been discussed more than once. Of course, today existing technologies are still far from ideal. However, it is likely that in a couple of years such a “time capsule” will be created. Then, by freezing the human body, it can be preserved completely unaged for a huge amount of time. People will be able to exceed the current lifespan: fall asleep and then wake up in the distant future.

Living Memories

So, as has already become clear, today there is no way to travel through time in the literal sense of the word. However, this does not mean that returning to the past is impossible. You don't even need superluminal speed or a wormhole to travel down memory lane. Go back in time using your own memories.

Of course, you won’t be able to travel to Ancient Rome or see dinosaurs, but you will be able to relive those wonderful moments that you had in the past and which, it seemed, could never be returned. Distant memories fade under the heap of what recently happened, but if you try, you can again feel those long-extinguished emotions. Thus, your body will exist in the present, and your brain will travel to the past.

But sometimes even recalling the right memories is not as easy as it seems. Therefore, below are the most effective ways to return to the past using memories.

Old pictures

Photographs are a kind of window into the past. Looking at them, you can not only delve into memories, but also relive long-forgotten emotions. Whenever you want to go back in time, take out your photo albums or family videos. Just while watching, you shouldn’t shed bitter tears and think that all the good things in your life have already happened. Try, looking at the pictures, to remember everyone who is depicted in them (including yourself): character, habits, beliefs, where he works, what is his goal in life, is he happy with himself, why is he smiling or sad, etc.

Instead of photographs, souvenirs or other memorabilia are also suitable. Look at them and remember the moments when you got them, why and where they came from.

Effect: Some people believe that after viewing old photographs they should be burned, as they prevent them from moving into the future. It's up to you to decide whether to burn it or not. However, just looking at old photographs helps not only to immerse yourself in the past, but also to understand what doesn’t suit you in the present.

Your own novel

Another great way to go back in time is to write about how things were. It doesn’t matter what the text looks like, because no one will read what you wrote except yourself. Just sit down and write about what happened, what you felt at that moment, what worried you, etc. This way you can experience the emotions you are writing about. Just don’t need to describe in detail everything that happened according to the principle: “took a cup - poured coffee - sat by the window ...” Write about the main thing - about what worried you then and does not let you go even after so many years.

Effect: This method is called writing therapy. It has been around for quite a long time. Psychologists believe that describing events that happened is useful for both mental and physical health. Plus, it's a great way to gain perspective on yourself. Well, if you're lucky, you'll end up with a real romance.

Deja vu

If you just can’t get out of your head what happened to you, you think that it was the best thing in your life, you want to repeat everything again and are wondering how to return to the past - then relive this happy day again!

To do this, set aside one free day in the present. Remember in great detail the events that you regret and bring them to life. Even if you don't have enough participants, don't be discouraged. This is where your imagination will come to your aid. Just imagine them nearby. On this day, do everything exactly the same as you did then. Live a day according to the scenario of “your golden age”: go to that very place, cook those same pancakes and listen to the music with which your most reverent memories are associated.

Effect: as a rule, this method helps to calm down and stop regretting what has passed. However, if immediately after the experiment it does not become easier, then you should not abuse it. Otherwise, you risk turning into a faded shadow of your former self, talking to yourself and sadly wandering around the “places of military glory.”

One-man theater

Another way to go back in time is to role-play situations. Imagine that you are on the stage of a theater, and the play that you have to perform is a moment in your life that you would so much like to return to. It is best to perform such a performance in the company of friends. Believe me, this is much more effective than chatting on the phone for hours, retelling what happened in the manner of “and I told him..., and he answered me..., and then we...”.

However, not everyone will decide to do this; many will simply be embarrassed. Therefore, you can arrange a “one-man theater.” Anyone can become the heroes of bygone days: from plasticine men to soft toys.

Effect: by acting out your own life situations, you will be able, albeit temporarily, to feel yourself in the past, see from the outside what happened to you and appreciate it all more deeply.

To briefly go back in time, you can walk through memorable places: an area from your childhood that you haven’t been to for a long time, school, your first place of work, the church where you got married, the lakeshore where you had your first kiss, etc. Even if something has changed there over the past time, memory will helpfully throw up images from the past. And together with them you will again remember what you felt then.

Call your old friends with whom you have long lost contact. These could be your friends from school, your first work colleagues and others. Believe me, remembering happy moments from the past is much better in the company of participants in those events.

Smells also play a big role. They are great for helping to bring back lost memories. After all, a person associates a lot of things with a certain smell. Buy the perfume you had during your summer travels and be transported back to those sunny and happy days.

Music also evokes memories. You may feel bad about something you once loved to listen to as a child, but listening to old favorites again after many years will help make it feel like you're back in the past.
