Address of the military unit in Yurga. Yurga, Kemerovo region: getting to know the city. Information from eyewitnesses

The 74th Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade is located in the city of Yurga, Kemerovo Region and belongs to the Central Military District (unit No. 21005).

The history of the brigade dates back to 1943 during World War II, when the 94th Guards Rifle Division was created from marine brigades that included participants in the Battle of Stalingrad. The first battle for the unit was the action on the Kursk Bulge; later it liberated many cities in Ukraine and Moldova, including Kharkov and Chisinau. For the heroism of the soldiers during the capture of Zvenigorodka, the division additionally became known as “Zvenigorodskaya”; its success in crossing the Dniester brought it the Order of Suvorov as a reward.

Moving further, the unit took part in the battles for the cities of Poland, the breakthrough on the Oder River and the capture of the Bundestag, for which the division received the name “Berlin”. Over 600 fighters were awarded, 23 received the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.

After the victory of the Allied forces, the division remained in the structure of military formations in Germany, where it was located until 1993, in which it was expelled from the composition and moved to the Kemerovo region. During this time, the 74th, 85th motorized rifle divisions, 386th tank regiment and 1133rd anti-aircraft regiment finally formed the structure of the 74th Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade.

During the Chechen War in 1994-1995, the newly formed formation lost almost half of its military personnel. From 1999 to 2001, the unit also took part in operations to combat terrorists in the North Caucasus. 2,863 soldiers of the brigade received state honors based on the results of military battles in Chechnya.

In 2015, the motorized rifle brigade was the first in the Central District to receive the new T-72B3 tanks, having undergone additional training with specialists.

Our editorial office received a letter from the sister of serviceman Alexei Vladimirov, who served in Yurga in military unit No. 21005 in 2011. The author of the letter asks the guys who served with her brother to respond. We express our deep condolences to the family of Alexey Vladimirov. Below is the text of the letter.

“Exactly three months have passed since my family and I buried our Lesha Vladimirov. On July 23, 2011, we escorted him into the army, like all the boys. He was calm. We were only worried that we would miss him, but not that much... In September, I found out that my brother was in a coma. I couldn’t find a place for myself, I didn’t know what to think... I was very worried. In January, I couldn’t stand it and decided to go to Novosibirsk, to the military hospital, where he had been lying at that time for four to five months. His mother almost never left his side... His condition was terrible... I found out that the reason for Lesha’s condition was an attempted suicide by hanging. I DO NOT BELIEVE IN THIS!
I returned to Omsk at the beginning of February. There was silence in my soul... a silence that was waiting for news... good news. But on the morning of February 20, 2012, Lesha’s father called us and said that our boy was no more.
He was buried on February 23, the military registration and enlistment office also participated in organizing the funeral. He was the only and beloved son...
Lesha Vladimirov was 23 years old.
Neither family nor friends believe that it was suicide. And I can firmly say SOMEONE IS GUILTY for his death. And I intend to find out who. I loved him too much to just come to terms with it. My friends always helped me. And now I ask you to help me.
If anyone has brothers, friends, or just acquaintances serving in this unit, PLEASE, while there is still an opportunity to find out, help me find out at least something, I ask you! He served in Yurga, in a training company. Military unit No. 21005"
