Once upon a time there lived in a nest under the roof of a bathhouse a young yellow-throated sparrow named Pudik. He did not yet know how to fly, but he flapped his wings and looked at the ground. He was very curious to know what God's world was like.
He said about the earth that it was too black. He said about his parents that they were arrogant, that they had found a worm with legs.
And Pudik’s mother kept warning him that he would fall, not with anything, but on the ground, and then the cat would eat him up.
And then the wind blew and mother told Pudik to be careful. But Pudik didn’t like the wind, and he wanted the trees to stop waving their branches, then there would be no wind. He loved to explain everything in his own way.
He’ll see a man walking downstairs, waving his arms, and say that the cat tore off his wings. Mother tried to explain to Pudik that people are not entitled to wings, they have a different rank, but Pudik did not listen. He believed that everyone should fly and even composed a song about a wingless man:
Eh, wingless man,
You have two legs
Even though you are very great,
The midges are eating you!
And I'm very small
But I eat midges myself.
And while Pudik was singing his song, he took it and fell out of the nest, and the sparrow followed him. And the red cat is right there. Pudik was scared of the cat, he kept bowing and insisting that he had the honor. And the mother fearlessly jumps on the cat and shouts to Pudik to fly away. Pudik flapped his wings and flew away. I didn’t notice how I sat down on the window of the bathhouse.
And next to her is the mother sparrow. Without a tail, but alive and happy that Pudika survived. She pecked him in the back of the head to educate him, and Pudik apologizes and says that you can’t learn everything at once.
The cat below looks at the sparrows and licks its lips. He regrets that the sparrow, as soft as a mouse, flew away.
And everything ended well, only the sparrow was left without a tail.
