CHAPTER 1: In which Cipollone crushed Prince Lemon's leg

Cipollino was the son of Cipollone. And he had seven brothers: Cipolletto, Cipollotto, Cipolloccia, Cipollucci and so on - the most suitable names for an honest onion family. They were good people, I must say frankly, but they were not lucky in life.

What can you do: where the bow, there are tears.

Cipollone, his wife, and sons lived in a wooden shack a little bigger than a vegetable garden box. If the rich happened to get into these places, they wrinkled their noses in displeasure, grumbled: “Fu, how it carries onions!” - and ordered the coachman to go faster.

Once the ruler of the country, Prince Lemon, was going to visit the poor outskirts. The courtiers were terribly worried that the onion smell would hit His Highness's nose.

“What will the prince say when he smells this smell of poverty?”

“You can spray the poor with perfume!” suggested the Senior Chamberlain.

A dozen Lemon soldiers were immediately sent to the outskirts to perfume those who smell of onions. This time the soldiers left their sabers and cannons in the barracks and shouldered huge cans of sprayers. In the cans were: floral cologne, violet essence and even the best rose water.

The commander ordered Cipollone, his sons and all relatives to leave the houses. The soldiers lined them up in rows and sprayed them well with cologne from head to toe. From this fragrant rain, Cipollino, out of habit, had a severe runny nose. He began to sneeze loudly and did not hear how the lingering sound of a trumpet came from afar.

It was the ruler himself who arrived on the outskirts with a retinue of Limonov, Limonishek and Limonchikov. Prince Lemon was dressed in all yellow from head to toe, and a golden bell jangled on his yellow cap. The court Lemons had silver bells, and the Lemon soldiers had bronze bells. All these bells were ringing non-stop, so it was great music. The whole street ran to listen to her. The people decided that a traveling orchestra had come.

Cipollone and Cipollino were in the front row. They both got a lot of pushes and kicks from those who pushed from behind. Finally, poor old Cipollone could not stand it and shouted:

- Back! Set back!..

Prince Lemon was alert. What is it?

He approached Cipollona, majestically stepping over his short, crooked legs, and looked sternly at the old man:

Why are you shouting "back"? My loyal subjects are so eager to see me that they're rushing forward, and you don't like that, do you?

“Your highness,” the Chief Chamberlain whispered into the prince’s ear, “it seems to me that this man is a dangerous rebel. It needs to be taken under special supervision.

Immediately, one of the Limonchikov soldiers directed a spyglass at Chipollone, which was used to observe troublemakers. Every Limonchik had such a pipe.

Cipollone turned green with fear.

"Your Highness," he muttered, "they're going to push me in!"

“And they will do well,” Prince Lemon boomed. - Serves you right!

Here the Senior Chamberlain addressed the crowd with a speech.

“Our beloved subjects,” he said, “his highness thanks you for your expression of devotion and for the zealous kicks with which you regale each other. Push harder, push with might and main!

“But they will knock you off your feet, too,” Chipollino tried to object.

But now another Limonchik pointed a telescope at the boy, and Chipollino considered it best to hide in the crowd.

At first, the back rows pressed against the front rows not too much. But the Senior Chamberlain glared at the negligent ones so fiercely that in the end the crowd became agitated like water in a tub. Unable to withstand the pressure, the old Cipollone turned head over heels and accidentally stepped on the foot of Prince Lemon himself. His Highness, who had hefty calluses on his feet, immediately saw all the stars of heaven without the help of a court astronomer. Ten Lemon soldiers rushed from all sides to the unfortunate Cipollone and handcuffed him.

- Chipollino, Chipollino, son! - called, looking around in confusion, the poor old man, when he was taken away by the soldiers.

Chipollino at that moment was very far from the scene and did not suspect anything, but the onlookers scurrying around already knew everything and, as happens in such cases, they knew even more than what actually happened.

“It’s good that they caught him in time,” said the idle talkers. - Just think, he wanted to stab his highness with a dagger!

“Nothing like that: the villain has a machine gun in his pocket!”

- Machine gun? In the pocket? It can't be!

"Don't you hear the shooting?"

In fact, it was not shooting at all, but the crackling of a festive fireworks display arranged in honor of Prince Lemon. But the crowd was so frightened that they shied away in all directions from the Limonchik soldiers.

Cipollino wanted to shout to all these people that in his father’s pocket there was not a machine gun, but only a small cigar butt, but, after thinking, he decided that you couldn’t outguess the talkers anyway, and prudently kept silent.

Poor Cipollino! It suddenly seemed to him that he began to see badly - this is because a huge tear welled up in his eyes.

"Get back, stupid!" Chipollino shouted at her and clenched his teeth so as not to cry.

The tear was frightened, backed away, and no longer appeared.

In short, old Cipollone was sentenced to imprisonment not only for life, but for many, many years after his death, because there were cemeteries in the prisons of Prince Lemon.

Cipollino achieved a meeting with the old man and hugged him tightly:

“Your poor father! They put you in jail like a criminal, along with thieves and bandits! ..

“What are you, what are you, son,” interrupted his father affectionately, “but the prison is full of honest people!

- What are they sitting for? What wrong have they done?

“Nothing at all, son. That's what they were jailed for. Prince Lemon does not like decent people.

Cipollino thought about it.

“So going to jail is a great honor?” - he asked.

- It turns out that it is. Prisons are built for those who steal and kill, but Prince Lemon has the opposite: thieves and murderers are in his palace, and honest citizens are in prison.

“I also want to be an honest citizen,” said Cipollino, “but I don’t want to go to prison.” Be patient a little, I will return here and free you all!

Are you relying too much on yourself? the old man smiled. - This is no easy task!

- But you'll see. I'll get mine.

Then some Limonishka from the guard appeared and announced that the meeting was over.

“Cipollino,” my father said in parting, “now you are already big and can think of yourself. Uncle Cipolla will take care of your mother and brothers, and you go wandering around the wide world, learn your wits.

- How can I study? I don't have any books, and I can't afford to buy them.

- It doesn't matter, life will teach. Just keep your eyes open - try to see through all sorts of rogues and swindlers, especially those who have power.

- And then? What should I do next?

“You will understand when the time comes.

“Well, let’s go, let’s go,” Limonishka shouted, “enough chatting!” And you, ragamuffin, stay out of here if you don't want to go to jail yourself.

Chipollino would have answered Limonishka with a mocking song, but he thought that it was not worth going to jail until you had time to properly get down to business.

He kissed his father hard and ran away.

The next day, he entrusted his mother and seven brothers to the care of the kind uncle Cipolla, who was a little more fortunate in life than the rest of his relatives - he served somewhere as a porter.

Saying goodbye to his uncle, mother and brothers, Cipollino tied his things in a bundle and, putting it on a stick, set off. He went aimlessly and must have chosen the right path.

A few hours later he reached a small village - so small that no one even bothered to write its name on a pillar or on the first house. And this house was, strictly speaking, not a house, but some kind of tiny kennel, which was suitable only for a dachshund. By the window sat an old man with a reddish beard; he looked sadly into the street and seemed to be very preoccupied with something.

History of creation

The Adventures of Cipollino was created by Gianni Rodari in 1951. The tale began to enjoy great popularity among Soviet readers, who met it in 1953, when a Russian translation of the work was published. They say that the creation of the Italian communist writer gained fame in the USSR thanks to the efforts of Samuil Marshak, who patronized Gianni Rodari in every possible way. After all, it is to him that the translations of Rodari's poems belong. So in this case: "The Adventures of Chipollino" in Russian was published under the editorship of the same Marshak.

In the 50s of the 20th century in the USSR, the magazine "Funny Pictures" was popular among children and adults. Its main characters were Dunno, Pinocchio and other heroes known at that time Soviet fairy tales. Soon, Cipollino successfully “joined” their ranks. And five years later, a cartoon of the same name appeared on the screens, which has not lost its relevance today. The images of the characters were successfully played up by the director Boris Dezhkin.

In 1973, a screen version of the movie "The Adventures of Cipollino" appeared. Gianni Rodari also found a role here: himself, a fairy tale writer. By the way, for many decades the fairy tale was included in the compulsory study program for schoolchildren.

Analysis of the work

"The Adventures of Cipollino" is a fairy tale-allegory, where the author tried to show social injustice. In the images of Countess Cherry, Senor Tomato, Prince Lemon, Italian large landowners are ridiculed, and ordinary people are shown under the images of Cipollino and his friends.

Cipollino himself is the embodiment of a leader that others can follow. With the support of friends and like-minded people, it becomes possible to change the existing order, which does not suit the population. Even among the opposite camp, you can find friends who support self-respect and interests ordinary people. In the work, Cherry is depicted as such a hero - a representative of the rich, supporting the common people.

"The Adventures of Cipollino" is a fairy tale not only for children. More like for teens and adults. She teaches: one cannot tolerate injustice and believe in fabulous promises. Even in modern society there is a division into social strata. But humanity, mutual assistance, justice, kindness, the ability to get out of any situation with dignity - exists outside of time.

Cipollino was the son of Cipollone. And he had seven brothers: Cipolletto, Cipollotto, Cipolloccia, Cipollucci and so on - the most suitable names for an honest onion family. They were good people, I must say frankly, but they were not lucky in life.

CHAPTER TWO,

How Cipollino made Tomato's cavalier cry for the first time
Uncle, - asked Cipollino, - why did it get into your head to climb into this box? I would like to know how you get out of it!
- Oh, that's pretty easy! - answered the old man. - It's much harder to get in. I would love to invite you to my place, boy, and even treat you to a glass of cold beer, but you can't fit here together. Yes, to tell you the truth, I don't even have a beer.
- Nothing, - said Cipollino, - I don’t want to drink ... So this, then, is your house?
“Yes,” answered the old man, whose name was godfather Pumpkin. - The house, however, is cramped, but when there is no wind, it’s not bad here.
* * *
It must be said that godfather Pumpkin only completed the construction of his house on the eve of this day. Almost from childhood, he dreamed that he would someday have his own house, and every year he bought one brick for future construction.
But only, unfortunately, godfather Pumpkin did not know arithmetic and had to ask the shoemaker, master Vinogradinka, from time to time, to count the bricks for him.
“We'll see,” Master Grape said, scratching the back of his head with an awl.
- Six seven-forty-two ... nine down ... In a word, you have seventeen bricks in total.
“Do you think this is enough for the house?”
– I would say no.
- How to be?
- It's up to you. Not enough for the house - make a bench out of bricks.
- Yes, what do I need a bench for! There are already many benches in the park, and when they are busy, I can stand.
Master Grape silently scratched with an awl, first behind his right ear, then behind his left, and left for his workshop.
And godfather Pumpkin thought and thought, and in the end decided to work more, but eat less. And so he did.
Now he was able to buy three or four bricks a year.
He became thin as a match, but the pile of bricks grew.
The people said:
“Look at the godfather Pumpkin! You might think that he is pulling bricks out of his own belly. Every time he adds a brick, he himself loses a kilogram.”
So it went year after year. Finally, the day came when godfather Pumpkin felt that he was getting old and could no longer work. He again went to Master Vinogradinka and said to him:
“Be so kind as to count my bricks.
Master Grape, taking an awl with him, left the workshop, looked at the pile of bricks and began:
“Six seven to forty-two… nine off… In a word, you now have a total of one hundred and eighteen pieces.”
Enough for a house?
- In my opinion, no.
- How to be?
“I don’t really know what to tell you… Build a chicken coop.”
“Yes, I don’t have a single chicken!”
- Well, put a cat in the chicken coop. You know, a cat is a useful animal. She catches mice.
- That's true, but I don't have a cat either, but to tell the truth, and the mice haven't started yet. From nothing and nowhere...
- What do you want from me? snorted Master Grape, fiercely scratching the back of his head with an awl. “One hundred and eighteen is one hundred and eighteen, no more, no less.” So right?
- You know better - you studied arithmetic.
Kum Pumpkin sighed once or twice, but, seeing that no more bricks were added from his sighs, he decided to start construction without further ado.
“I will build a very, very small house out of bricks,” he thought as he worked. “I don’t need a palace, I’m small myself. And if there aren’t enough bricks, I’ll use paper.”
Kum Pumpkin worked slowly and carefully, afraid to use up all his precious bricks too quickly.
He laid them one on top of the other as carefully as if they were made of glass. He knew well what each brick was worth!
“This,” he said, taking one of the bricks and stroking it like a kitten, “this is the same brick that I got ten years ago for Christmas. I bought it with the money I saved for the holiday chicken. Well, I’ll eat chicken later, when I finish my building, but for now I’ll do without it.
Over each brick, he let out a deep, deep sigh. And yet, when the bricks ran out, he still had a lot of sighs left, and the house came out as tiny as a dovecote.
“If I were a dove,” thought poor Pumpkin, “I would be very, very comfortable here!”
And now the house was completely ready.
Kum Pumpkin tried to enter it, but hit the ceiling with his knee and almost brought down the entire structure.
“I am getting old and clumsy. We must be more careful!”
He knelt in front of the entrance and, sighing, crawled inside on all fours. But here new difficulties were revealed: one cannot get up without breaking through the roof with one's head; you can’t stretch on the floor because the floor is too short, and you can’t turn on your side because of the tightness. But most importantly, what about the legs? If you climbed into the house, then you need to pull your legs inside, otherwise they, which is good, will get wet in the rain.
“I see,” thought the godfather Pumpkin, “that I can only live in this house while sitting.”
And so he did. He sat down on the floor, carefully taking a breath, and on his face, which appeared in the window, there was an expression of the most gloomy despair.
- Well, how do you feel, neighbor? asked Master Vine, leaning out of the window of his workshop.
- Thank you, not bad! .. - Father Pumpkin answered with a sigh.
- Aren't you narrow in the shoulders?
- No no. After all, I built a house just to my measure.
Master Vineyard scratched the back of his head with his awl as usual and muttered something incomprehensible. Meanwhile, people gathered from all sides to stare at the house of the godfather Pumpkin. A whole horde of boys rushed in. The smallest jumped onto the roof of the house and began to dance, singing:

Like Old Pumpkin
Right hand in the kitchen
Left hand in the bedroom.
If legs
On the threshold
The nose is in the attic window!

- Watch out, boys! pleaded godfather Pumpkin. - So you bring down my house - he's still so young, brand new, he's not even two days old!
To appease the guys, godfather Pumpkin pulled out a handful of red and green candies from his pocket, which he had been lying around for I don’t know since, and distributed them to the boys. Those with a joyful squeal grabbed candy and immediately quarreled among themselves, dividing the booty.
From that day on, godfather Pumpkin, as soon as he had a few soldos, bought sweets and put them on the windowsill for the guys, like bread crumbs for sparrows.
So they became friends.
Sometimes Pumpkin allowed the boys to climb into the house one by one, while he himself vigilantly looked outside, so that they would not cause trouble.
* * *
It was about all this godfather Pumpkin told young Chipollino just at the moment when a thick cloud of dust appeared on the edge of the village. Immediately, as if on command, all windows, doors and gates began to close with a thud and a creak. Master Grape's wife hastened to close her gate too.
People hid in their homes, as if before a storm. Even chickens, cats and dogs, and they rushed to look for a safe haven.
Chipollino had not yet had time to ask what was going on here, when a cloud of dust swept through the village with a crash and a roar and stopped at the very house of Pumpkin's godfather.
In the middle of the cloud was a carriage pulled by four horses. As a matter of fact, they were not exactly horses, but rather cucumbers, because in the country in question, all people and animals were akin to some kind of vegetables or fruits.
From the carriage, puffing and puffing, got out a fat man dressed in all green. His red, puffy, puffy cheeks looked like they were about to burst like an overripe tomato.
This was the gentleman Tomato, the manager and housekeeper of the wealthy landowners - Countess Cherry. Chipollino immediately realized that nothing good could be expected from this person if everyone fled at her first appearance, and he himself considered it best to stay on the sidelines.
At first, the gentleman Tomato did nothing wrong to anyone. He only looked at his godfather Pumpkin. He looked long and intently, ominously shaking his head and not saying a word.
And poor godfather Pumpkin was glad at that moment to fall through the ground along with his tiny house. Sweat streamed from his forehead in streams and fell into his mouth, but godfather Pumpkin did not even dare to raise his hand to wipe his face, and dutifully swallowed these salty and bitter drops.
Finally, he closed his eyes and began to think like this: “There is no Signor Tomato here anymore. I sit in my house and swim like a sailor in a boat, Pacific Ocean. Around the water - blue-blue, calm-calm ... How softly it sways my boat! .. "
Of course, there was no sea around, but Pumpkin's godfather's house really swayed now to the right, then to the left. This happened because the gentleman Tomato grabbed the edge of the roof with both hands and began to shake the house with all his might. The roof shook, and neatly laid tiles flew in all directions.

Godmother Pumpkin involuntarily opened his eyes when Signor Tomato uttered such a menacing growl that the doors and windows in neighboring houses closed even more tightly, and the one who locked the door with only one turn of the key hurried to turn the key in the keyhole one or two more.
- The villain! shouted Signor Tomato. - Rogue! Thief! Rebel! Rebel! You built this palace on land that belongs to the Countess Cherries, and you are going to spend the rest of your days in idleness, violating the sacred rights of two poor elderly signore widows and complete orphans. Here I'll show you!
“Your grace,” pleaded godfather Pumpkin, “I assure you that I had permission to build a house!” Signor Count Cherry himself once gave it to me!
- Count Cherry died thirty years ago - peace be upon him! – and now the land belongs to two well-to-do countesses. So get the hell out of here without a word! Your lawyer will explain the rest to you... Hey, Pea, where are you? Alive! * Signor Green Peas, the village lawyer, was obviously on the alert, because he immediately popped out from somewhere, like a pea from a pod. Every time Tomato came to the village, he called this quick fellow to confirm his orders with the appropriate articles of the law.
“I am here, Your Grace, at your service…” Signor Peas murmured, bowing low and turning green with fear.
But he was so small and nimble that no one noticed his bow. Afraid of appearing insufficiently polite, Signor Pea jumped up and kicked his legs in the air.
“Hey, how are you, tell this slacker Pumpkin that, according to the laws of the kingdom, he must immediately get out of here. And announce to all the local inhabitants that Countess Cherries intend to put the most vicious dog in this kennel in order to guard the count's possessions from the boys, who for some time began to behave extremely disrespectfully.
“Yes, yes, really disrespectful… that is…” muttered Pea, turning even greener with fear. - That is not really respectful!
- What is there - "really" or "invalid"! Are you a lawyer or not?
“Oh yes, Your Grace, an expert in civil, criminal, and also canon law. Graduated from the University of Salamanca. With a diploma and title ...
- Well, if with a diploma and a title, then, therefore, you will confirm that I am right. And then you can get away.
- Yes, yes, signor cavalier, as you please! .. - And the signor lawyer, without forcing himself to ask twice, slipped away quickly and imperceptibly, like a mouse tail.
Well, did you hear what the lawyer said? asked Tomato godmother Pumpkin.
“But he didn’t say anything at all! - I heard someone's voice.
- How? Do you still dare to argue with me, unfortunate one?
“Your grace, I didn’t even open my mouth ...” the godfather Pumpkin murmured.
- And who, if not you? - And the gentleman Tomato looked around with a menacing look.
- Scammer! Dodger! The same voice was heard again.
- Who is speaking? Who? It must be that old rebel, Master Grape! - decided the gentleman Tomato. He went to the shoemaker's workshop and, banging on the door with a club, growled:
“I know very well, Master Vine, that in your workshop often bold, rebellious speeches are made against me and the noble Countess Cherry!” You have no reverence for these elderly noble gentlemen - widows and complete orphans. But wait, your turn will come. Let's see who will have the last laugh!
“And even earlier your turn will come, Signor Tomato!” Oh, you will burst soon, you will certainly burst!
These words were uttered by none other than Chipollino. Putting his hands in his pockets, he approached the formidable gentleman Tomato so calmly and confidently that it never occurred to him that this pitiful little boy, this little tramp, dared to tell him the truth.
– Where did you come from? Why not at work?
“I don’t work yet,” Cipollino answered. - I'm just learning.
– What are you studying? Where are your books?
“I study swindlers, Your Grace. Right now I have one of them in front of me, and I will never miss the opportunity to study it properly.
“Ah, you study swindlers?” It's curious. However, in this village everyone is a swindler. If you've found a new one, show it to me.
“With pleasure, Your Grace,” Cipollino replied with a sly wink.
Here he thrust his hand deeper into his left pocket and pulled out a small mirror, with which he used to send out sunbeams. Coming very close to Signor Tomato, Cipollino turned the mirror in front of his very nose:
“There he is, that swindler, your grace. Take a good look at him if you like. Do you recognize?
Cavalier Tomato could not resist the temptation and looked into the mirror with one eye. It is not known what he hoped to see there, but, of course, he saw only his own face, red as fire, with evil little eyes and a wide mouth, similar to the slot of a piggy bank.

It was then that Signor Tomato finally realized that Cipollino was simply mocking him. Well, he got mad! Turning purple all over, he clutched Chipollino's hair with both hands.
- Oh oh oh! - shouted Cipollino, without losing his inherent gaiety. “Ah, how strong is this swindler whom you saw in my mirror!” I assure you, he alone is worth a whole gang of robbers!
- I'll show you, rogue! .. - yelled the gentleman Tomato and pulled Chipollino's hair so hard that one strand remained in his hands.
But then something happened that should have happened.
Having pulled out a strand of onion hair from Cipollino, the formidable gentleman Tomato suddenly felt a caustic bitterness in his eyes and nose. He sneezed once or twice, and then tears gushed from his eyes like a fountain. Even like two fountains. Jets, streams, rivers of tears flowed down both of his cheeks so abundantly that they flooded the entire street, as if a janitor with a hose had walked along it.
“This has never happened to me before!” thought the frightened Signor Tomato.
In fact, he was such a heartless and cruel person (if you can only call a tomato a man) that he never cried, and since he was also rich, he never had to peel an onion himself in his life. What happened to him so frightened him that he jumped into the carriage, whipped the horses and sped away. However, running away, he turned around and shouted:
- Hey, Pumpkin, look, I warned you! .. And you, mean boy, ragamuffin, you will pay me dearly for these tears!
Chipollino rolled with laughter, and godfather Pumpkin only wiped sweat from his forehead.
Doors and windows began to open little by little in all the houses, except for the house in which Signor Goroshek lived.
Master Vine opened his gate wide open and ran out into the street, scratching the back of his head with an awl.
“I swear by all the fighting in the world,” he exclaimed, “finally there was a boy who made the gentleman Tomato cry! .. Where did you come from boy?
And Chipollino told the master Vinogradinka and his neighbors his story, which you already know.

CHAPTER THREE,

Which tells about Professor Pear, Leek and the Millipedes
From that very day, Cipollino began working in the Vinogradinka workshop and soon achieved great success in the shoe business: he rubbed wax, tamped soles, put heels, took measurements from the feet of customers and at the same time did not stop joking.
Master Grape was pleased with him, and things were going well for them, not only because they worked hard, but also because many came into the workshop to look at the brave boy, with which he made the Tomato cavalier himself cry. Behind a short time Cipollino made many new acquaintances.
The first to arrive was Professor Grusha, the music teacher, with a violin under his arm. A whole cloud of flies and wasps flew in behind him, because Professor Grusha's violin was made from half a fragrant, juicy pear, and flies, as you know, are great hunters of everything sweet.
Very often, when Professor Grusha gave a concert, the audience shouted to him from the audience:
- Professor, pay attention - a big fly is sitting on your violin! You are fake because of her!
Here the professor interrupted the game and chased after the fly until he managed to slap it with his bow.

IN this story the story is about the kind and naive onion boy Chipollino. He travels, fighting evil and injustice, those who oppress the people. Cipollino's friends also participate in the fight against injustice and arbitrariness. They oppose Senor Tomato, Baron Orange, Prince Lemon and other negative characters. As a result, friends win. A banner of victory is hung on the tower of the castle, and its previous owners flee. The castle is provided for children with all the amenities for them.

The main idea of this work is that together with friends you can achieve a lot, and that there are still many castles in the world occupied by such villains as Prince Lemon and Senor Tomato. However, they will have to give up their possessions to their children and leave.

Read Summary of Rodari Adventures of Cipollino

Cipollino lived in a poor onion family, in a small house that was the size of a box. The family consisted of Cipollino himself, his mother, father and seven brothers. The place where this family lived, wanted to see Prince Lemon. The courtiers were worried about this visit, because on the outskirts of the city there was a strong smell of onions, that is, poverty. The retinue accompanying the prince wore caps with silver bells.

Because of the ringing they made, the residents of the city decided that a traveling orchestra had come to them. The crush began. Cipollino and his father stood in front of everyone, and the whole crowd pressed on them. Because of this, Cepollone's father was pushed out by the crowd and accidentally stepped on Prince Lemon's foot. For this he was arrested and thrown into prison. Chipollino got on a date with his father, on which he told him that not criminals were sitting in this prison, but honest, respectable citizens. They are not pleasing to Prince Lemon and the country. The father gave advice to Cipollino, so that he went to travel, and pay attention to scammers and criminals. Lukovka set off on the road.

In one village, Chipollino ended up near the house of Pumpkin's godfather. The house was so small that you might have thought it was a box. A carriage drove up with Señor Tomato, who declared that Pumpkin had built his house illegally on the land of Countess Cherries without permission. Kum Pumpkin objected that there is permission, and it was received from the count himself. Lawyer Pea was on the side of the Pomodoro. Cipollino intervened in this situation. He said that he was studying scammers and gave Senor Tomato a mirror. Togo was seized with rage, and he attacked the onion, starting to ruffle it. Since he had never dealt with onions before, tears welled up in his eyes. Tomato got scared and jumped into the carriage. Leaving, he did not forget to remind Pumpkin that he needed to vacate the house.

Having learned about how Cipollino forced Tomato to cry, the master of the vineyard invited him to work in his workshop. Many people came to the onion, everyone wanted to see a brave boy. Thus, he met Professor Pear, Leek, and the centipede family.

Senor Tomato again came to the village with his attendants and the dog Mastino to evict godfather Pumpkin. He was thrown out of the house, and the dog was settled there. It was hot, and Cipollino took some water, to which he then added sleeping pills. The dog drank it and fell asleep. Cipollino took him to the estate to the Countess Cherries.

They decided to hide the Pumpkin House. He was taken to the forest, and in order for someone to guard him, they settled Blueberries there.

Senor Tomato was informed about the loss of the Pumpkin's house. To put down the riot, he gathered his soldiers, who arrested the villagers. Chipollino and Radish hid from the soldiers.

The nephew of Countess Cherry went for a walk around the village in this case. He heard someone calling him. It was Cipollino and Radish. The children became friends, and little Cherry warned the new friends about the approach of Senor Tomato. They ran away from him again.

With his newfound friends, Cipollino fights against the injustice and disorder caused by Senor Tomato, Prince Lemon and other negative characters who ruined the people. Prince Lemon's soldiers defected to the side of the people. Senor Tomato went to the village to investigate the situation. Peas, Petrushka, Mandarin and Orange decided to follow him. So they watched each other all night. And at this time, on the same night, Cipollino, together with Count Cherry, hung the banner of freedom on the castle.

Senor Tomato's fears about a rebellion in the country were justified. He climbed onto the roof and out of anger tore out a tuft of hair from Cipollino, but forgot that his eyes were watering from the onion. The tomato ran to his room and sobbed there from the onion and from his loss. Prince Lemon went to the dunghill, the Cherry Countesses left, Peas also left the castle domain. Other scammers also followed suit. The castle was handed over to the children, where they equipped rooms for games, drawing and other entertainment. Petrushka became the watchman of this castle, and godfather Pumpkin the gardener. Senor Tomato taught him, only before that he had served time in prison.

And the mice immediately went on the attack. They succeeded in extinguishing the candle and the prisoners were left in complete darkness.
Pumpkin was worried that everyone went to jail through his fault. He even wanted to tell Pomodoro where his house was hidden.
But then the mice went on the attack again and the captives had to meow to scare and drive away the mice.
And then Strawberry Girl spoke to them on a secret phone. She told the captives to hold on and that Cipollino asked to rely on him. Strawberry tossed a new candle to the captives.
The mice tried to repeat the attack, but this time they could not gnaw the candle.
Meanwhile, the dog Mastino found Cipollino and knocked him over. He barked until Tomato came and arrested Cipollino.
Chapter 10
Cipollino was sitting in the dungeon when he heard some noise. Soon the earth succumbed and the Mole found himself in the cell, who recognized Cipollino and lamented that the poor boy was languishing in such a bright prison. Cipollino agreed to crawl into the Mole's gallery and suggested that he dig to the right, thinking to get to the prison where all the captives were kept.
The mole began to dig, and Cipollino closed up the opening of the passage and climbed after the mole.
At this time, Tomato came into the cell and was surprised at the disappearance of Cipollino. He began to inspect the cell and then a gust of wind closed the door. Tomato himself ended up in jail. After all, he had the key, but the door did not open from the inside. To release the Tomato, the door had to be blown up and the Tomato received a large abrasion.
Finally, Cipollino ended up in the cell of his friends, and the Mole, blinded by a candle, hastily fled.

Chapter 11
Meanwhile, Strawberry Girl told Cherry about her imprisoned friends, and he decided to release everyone. He persuaded Strawberry to bake a cake for Tomato and poured sleeping powder into it. And when Tomato fell asleep, he took out the keys to the prison from his stockings.
Then Strawberry Girl distracted the attention of the guards by shouting that she was attacked by bandits.
Cherry unlocked the prison and was delighted to see Cipollino there. All the captives escaped, and Cherry took the keys back to Tomato.
The guards were looking for the robbers and arrested the Cat, who was put in a cell, and they themselves fled.

It turns out that Strawberry Girl told Cipollino about the fate of the lawyer, and he persuaded the Mole to dig an underground passage right under the scaffold. Therefore, when Peas fell into the hatch, Chipollino was already waiting for him. Together with Peas, he got underground to the rest of his comrades, and then Peas told that Tomato knew where the house was hidden.
Cipollino rushed to his godfather Chernika, but was too late. Lemons have already been there and carried away the house.
Chapter 16
To find Cipollino, they invited the famous detective Mr. Carrot and his dog. They immediately zealously set to work, but cooled down a little when they learned that the fugitives did not have tails to pour salt under their tails. And yes, you have to catch them first.
Then Carrot lay down on the floor in front of the compass and began looking for his bed. He shattered the mirror, which cut off half of Hold-Grab's tail, and knocked over a basin of water on himself. Then Carrot got up and found his bed.
In the morning he took out a bag of kegs from the loto and began to determine from them how many steps and in which direction to take. He almost drowned in the pool, but Cherry finally showed the detective the gate and at the same time whistled a warning.
The detective and Hold-Hatch were in the woods. And then Carrot heard a woman's voice calling for help. He followed the voice, not knowing that he was following two children. And then Hold-Hatch was suddenly lifted by a rope to a tree.
Carrot was surprised and angry at the behavior of the dog. He even wanted to fire Hold-Grab, but he, in turn, was hoisted up a tree with a rope.
Here the guys showed up and laughed merrily at the captive detective. This trick was invented by Cherry himself, who read about it in books.
Chapter 17
Meanwhile, godfather Pumpkin and godfather Blueberry became very good friends and dreamed of returning their house as soon as possible. They even argued who loves this house more.
The fugitives hid in a cave, to which wolves came at night, and therefore a large fire was always burning near the cave.
Then the Bear came to the cave and at first he just wanted to eat everyone. But then the bear talked and became friends with Chipollino, because his parents were in the same cage as Chipollino's father.
The bear turned out to be polite and kind, and when Chipollino went to see him off, he suggested that the Bear go to the city and look at the bear's parents.
Chapter 18
Cipollino and the Bear entered the menagerie and the good Elephant pulled out the key to the cage with the bears from the watchman.
The animals called to them, but Cipollino and the Bear were only looking for the bears' cage. But then they found the right cage and the old bears warmly hugged their son.
They hurried to leave the zoo, but then the seal made such a noise that the watchman woke up. And the bears, and with them Chipollino, hid in the seal's cage. But the seal called the watchmen and they fished out three bears and a creature of an unknown breed. The watchman put Chipollino in a cage with a monkey and the boy sat there for two days until Cherry paid a fine for him.
Returning to the cave, Cipollino saw that his friends had disappeared.
Chapter 19
Detective Carrot and his dog were found and taken down by a lumberjack. The detective ran into the forest. Soon Lemons appeared, who were looking for their detective. The woodcutter directed them in the other direction. Then Pumpkin, Blueberry and others appeared who were looking for Cipollino. Chipollino and Cherry appeared next, who were looking for friends. Then Signor Tomato appeared, who was looking for Cherry, and then Radish ran past the woodcutter, looking for Cipollino.
Finally, before sunset, Prince Lemon himself appeared, looking for his soldiers.
Chapter 20
At this time, Orange and Mandarin found themselves alone in the castle. They decided to explore the wine cellar. There, Orange got carried away with bottles of wine, and Mandarin found a secret door, which he unsuccessfully tried to open for some time. Finally, he accidentally tugged at a bottle with a yellow label and the door opened.
And from there came out Cherry and his friends. They all found each other in the forest and Cherry offered to capture the empty castle.
Fat Orange was left in the basement, and Mandarin was locked in his room.

Chapter 21
Those who captured the castle began to think about how to keep it, having no weapons and a defense plan. But Cipollino reassured everyone.
At this time, in the forest, Prince Lemon was having fun with fireworks, shooting his Lemons from a cannon. Tomato hardly persuaded the prince to stop, so as not to destroy the entire army.
An angry Tomato was walking through the forest and suddenly saw that the windows of the castle were lit. He became even more angry, thinking that it was Orange and Mandarin walking. Then all the windows went out, except for the windows of the Mandarin, and the Pomodoro saw that he began to give some signals, turning the light on and off. The tomato read the SOS signal and went to the castle.
He met Mastino, who complained that he had to guard Pumpkin's house, in which Pumpkin and Blueberry sleep, that Orange had locked himself in the wine cellar, and Mandarin was in his room, and there were a lot of people in the castle.
The tomato returned to Lemon and he appointed an assault on the castle at seven in the morning, and appointed Carrot as a military adviser.
Chapter 22
Lemon's army approached the castle and found its gates open. This alarmed them, Pomodoro suspected a trap. But Lemon personally led forty generals through the gate and directed them to the castle.
The generals began to climb the hill and suddenly some kind of round projectile rushed from the castle and crushed twenty generals. It turned out to be Baron Orange, who escaped from the basement and mistook the generals for blacks, because they smeared their faces with soot, on the advice of Carrot.
The prince became furious and sent ten more Lemons to attack.
But Cipollino sent a stream of wine from the pump at them and the deadly drunk Lemons retreated and went to bed.
They rejoiced in the castle.
Chapter 23
But a division of Limonchikov was sent to help the prince, and the castle fell. Lawyer Peas turned out to be a traitor and discovered the secret of the underground passage. Cipollino was again in prison.
A week later, Cipollino was taken for a walk and he ran into his father. Father told Cipollino not to lose heart and wait for a letter from him.
And indeed, on the same day, Cipollino received a letter delivered by the Spider. The boy learned how to write letters.
Chapter 24
Cipollino writes three letters. One to the father, with a request not to lose hope. The second to Mole with a request to collect all the moles and help them escape from prison. And the third to Cherry with a request to hold on and pass the letter to the Mole.
Then Cipollino draws a plan of the prison on his shirt and puts a cross on it.
The spider takes the letters and goes to the castle, and the prisoners do not understand why they stopped delivering the letters. Chippolino is waiting for an answer, but four days pass, and the Spider does not return, and the boy loses hope.
Chapter 25
The Chromonog Spider went to the Castle, but along the way he met his relative, the Seven and a Half Spider, who followed him and greatly delayed him. From this spider Chromonog lost a whole day, hiding from sparrows in the field. And then Chromonog was devoured by a chicken and he only had time to throw his bag to Seven and a half.
Seven and a half I read the letters and wept. He decided that Chromonog died through his fault. Therefore, he took the letters to the castle and Cherry safely received a message from Chipollino.
Chapter 26
Cipollino found out that his father was very ill and therefore went out for a walk sad. He walked thinking and suddenly heard a voice from under the ground. Cipollino realized that it was the Mole. He was delighted and ordered to pass along the chain that soon everyone would be free. On the next lap, Cipollino learned that the underground passage was ready. Through the circle, one prisoner jumped sideways and fell into the ground. So each circle began to jump into the underground passage one prisoner.
Limonishka, could not understand what was happening, the number of prisoners gradually decreased. And now there are only five left. Limonishka jumped up and started screaming, and the last four prisoners jumped into the underground passage. Cipollino did not want to run away, but they grabbed him by the legs and dragged him into the underground passage.
And then Limonishka unexpectedly jumped, who was afraid of punishment from the prince.
Cipollino persuaded the Mole to dig a passage to the cell of Cipollino's father, and they released the old man as well. And Lemons, who discovered the loss of prisoners, also fled from the prince, and changed into work clothes.
Chapter 27
Prince Lemon decided to arrange obstacle races on chariots, for which he supplied the chariots with very strong brakes. Therefore, just as the riders did not whip the horses, they could not move the chariots.
Lemon himself went out into the field and cheerfully beat the horses with a whip. The people were furious. And then the ground under Lemon's feet opened up and Chipollino crawled out. Seeing what was happening, he snatched a whip from Lemon and began to beat the prince himself with it.
All the prisoners crawled out of the ground and the people, recognizing friends and relatives, broke through the cordon. Prince Lemon fled in fear into the field in a carriage and tipped over into a dunghill.
Chapter 28
At this time, Signor Tomato gathered the villagers and announced a court session. The court considered the petition of Countess Cherries to collect rent for rain, thunder and lightning, hail, frost and other precipitation.
Of course, the court ruled to satisfy the forgiveness and, as luck would have it, a thunderstorm with hail immediately began. The poor people took to the streets and counted their losses.
Then a train appeared, in the last car of which three bears rode. The bears came out and showed the tickets to the controller. And then Cipollino jumped out.
He greeted all his friends cordially, hugged Vine and announced that he had a wonderful plan.
Chapter 29
Prince Lemon lay in a dunghill for a long time and did not know that a free republic had already been proclaimed in the country.
Finally, he got out and saw that he was a stone's throw from Cherry Castle. He knocked, but Strawberry Girl didn't want to let him in, mistaking him for a beggar. But then Petrushka appeared and, of course, recognized the prince.
The countesses joyfully received Lemon and offered to give him horses. But Lemon refused to return to the city, referring to a terrible thunderstorm. And everyone agreed with him, saying that the thunderstorm was really strong, although the sun had been shining outside the window for a long time.
Lemon's behavior seemed suspicious to Pomodoro and he sneaked into the village, fearing that a revolution had happened. Behind him, Peas crept in the same way. The tomato noticed Pea and hid in the bushes. Peas followed Petrushka, behind whom Mandarin crept, and Orange crept behind Mandarin. They crept after each other all night, and in the morning they returned to the castle. And over the castle the banner of freedom was already developing.
Epilogue.
Signor Tomato climbed the tower, but could not tear down the banner. He didn't go through the door. But he managed to grab Cipollino by the hair and even pulled out a bunch, because of which he again sobbed and ran downstairs.
The prince and countesses left their domains, and Orange lost weight and began to beg. He even went to work as a loader at the station. Duke Mandarin lives off Baron Orange and does nothing.
But Tomato served time in prison and became Pumpkin's henchman. He plants cabbages and cuts the grass.
And they set up a school in the castle and Chipollino and Cherry study in it. And children are playing in the park. And so it will be everywhere where there are still parasites. The people will drive them out, and children will play in the parks.
