By the age of 18, Sasha visited not only Moscow, but also Leningrad and Gelendzhik. And the world is so big, diverse and tempting.

When the time came to serve in the army and Alexander was told that he was given a deferment, he was offended: “What am I, the worst of all, or what?” He served in the North Caucasian Military District. LAST STAND

There were many rumors about the fierce battles in the Argun Gorge from February 29 to March 3, 2000. The soldiers of the 76th Airborne Division stationed in Pskov then suffered the greatest losses. The documentary picture of the battles is described in detail in the book “Step into Immortality” (published by the 76th Guards of the Pskov Division) guard Colonel V. Kozlov.

The regimental tactical group of the 104th Airborne Regiment on February 27, 2000 carried out a combat mission to block settlements Khatuni, Kirov-Yurt, Makhety and Selmentauzen.

Regiment commander Colonel Melentiev S.Yu. received a combat mission: by 14.00 on February 29, complete the exit of the 2nd bdb to the line of heights 776.0; 705.6 mountains Pstykort; 626.0, which is 4-5 km southeast of Ulus-Kert. The goal is to prevent a breakthrough of bandit formations from the direction of Dagu-Borzoy, Ulus-Kert to Makhety, Kirov-Yurt, Selmentauzen, Elistanzhi, Vedeno. The idea was to secure a platoon of the 6th PDR at a height of 776.6 and in the future, using this height as a strong point, advance and occupy the remaining heights as platoon strong points.

Fulfilling the task, the commander of the 2nd infantry brigade of the guard, Lieutenant Colonel Evtyukhin M.N. With 6 PDR and 3 platoon of 4 PDR in the early morning of February 28, he began to advance to the indicated area ... We moved at top speed. 1 platoon of 6 PDR (commander of Art. Lt. Sherstyannikov A.N.), reconnaissance patrol, under the general supervision of Guards. settlement Evtyukhina M.N. Already by 16.00 on February 28, they reached a height of 776.0. However, weather conditions prevented the paratroopers from completing their task to the end.

On the morning of February 29, the units resumed movement again. Having passed the height of 776.0, the 3rd platoon of the 4th PDR reached the height of 787.0 by 11.00. After approaching the mark of 776.0, 6 PDRs consisting of 2 3 platoons, having a reconnaissance patrol ahead, at 11.30 began advancing in the direction of Mount Isitkort. At 12.30 reconnaissance patrol, moving forward at a distance of 100-150 meters from two platoons of the 6th PDR, discovered a group of militants in an ambush near the clearing. The paratroopers opened fire on them, and the artillery spotter guards. Dr. Romanov V.V. triggered artillery fire. The enemy responded with fire from machine guns, sniper rifles and began to pull up reinforcements. The commander of the 6th PDR competently organized the battle, during which the militants suffered losses. However, among the paratroopers there were wounded. IN a short time the militants managed to bring up additional forces and were able to create a numerical superiority in manpower. The intensity of fire from small arms and grenade launchers has increased. In addition, they took a more advantageous position.

Under these conditions, the battalion commander made the only right decision - to withdraw to a height of 776.0 and organize defense there. He ordered the scouts under the command of Art. l-ta Vorobyov. Having taken positions on the southern outskirts of the glade, the scouts provided 6 PDR with the opportunity to make a withdrawal, evacuate the wounded. When making a withdrawal, Mr. Molodov S.G. was mortally wounded, who carried out the guards from under fire. contract service sergeant Ivanov. The command of the company was taken over by Mrs. Dr. Sokolov R.V. Guards, Mr. Molodov gave the command to withdraw to the last squad, and he himself, with a wounded paratrooper who remained with the company commander, covered the retreat of his subordinates. But the brave paratrooper, who had lost a lot of blood, lost consciousness. Having put the wounded man on his shoulders and firing back from the attacking bandits, the company commander began to withdraw into the combat formations of the unit. During this time, he was seriously injured. Under heavy enemy fire, Guards. Sergeant Alexander Komyagin rushed to the rescue of the wounded commander. Two attempts to get close to the officer were unsuccessful. However, Alexander, acting according to the laws of the landing brotherhood, did not retreat, but decided to pull out the commander at all costs. Under the fire cover of the paratroopers, he did it. But it was not possible to save the brave officer, the wound turned out to be fatal.

After the withdrawal of 6 PDR, the scouts also retreated to a height of 776.0, until 16 o'clock the company continued to repel the attacks of the militants. Despite significant losses (up to 60 people), they continued to advance. According to radio interception, it was later established that the actions of the bandits were led by Khattab. At 22.50, the company was fired upon by their mortars, but this did not allow them to succeed. At 23.05, the militants made another attempt to shoot down the paratroopers from a height. With a massive attack on the company's stronghold, an elite detachment of "Jamir" numbering more than 400 people rushed ... At the cost of their lives, the guards thwarted the plan of the bandits. Having not achieved success at 1.50 on March 1, the militants ceased fire and retreated. On the radio, they began to offer the guardsmen to leave their positions, let them through, and surrender.

Remaining true to military duty, they made one decision for themselves - to stand to the end until reinforcements arrive.

At 05.10 on March 1, the militants, not paying attention to the losses, launched an attack on the stronghold of the company from all directions. Seeing that the ranks of the defenders had noticeably thinned out, the bandits rushed to the top of the 776.0 mark. The surviving small group of paratroopers, led by the battalion commander, concentrated at the triangular peak. Here the last battle of 6 PDR was adopted. At 6.10 the connection with the battalion commander was cut off. Last words Mark Nikolaevich were: “I call fire on myself!...”

At 6.50, the bandits moved in an avalanche against a handful of brave paratroopers. Without shooting with cries of "Allah Akbar!" the bandits went on a breakthrough. The fight turned into hand-to-hand combat. But the forces were too unequal. Three hundred selected bandits were opposed by 26 wounded guardsmen. Despite the numerical superiority of the enemy, the paratroopers of the Guard Lieutenant Colonel Yevtyukhin showed courage, stamina and heroism. They fulfilled their military duty to the end.

Now the names of 84 paratroopers from the 76th Guards Airborne Division are known not only to Pskov. All of Russia knows about them. Officers, soldiers and sergeants - all as one entered into a fight with the brutal bandits of Hottab. And they did not retreat a single step, holding their position until the last breath. There were 27 "spirits" for each paratrooper, but the 6th company won. The unequal battle lasted 17 hours and 33 minutes. 22 fighters from the dead company became Heroes of the Russian Federation, 21 of them posthumously. Among them is our compatriot commander of a platoon of the 6th company of the 104th Guards Red Banner Parachute Regiment of the 76th Guards Airborne Division, guard sergeant of contract service Alexander Valeryevich Komyagin.

Alexander knew well what he was going for, he had a choice. He made it. He did not reach his heights during his lifetime, but that last 776.0 raised him to the top of human heights, accessible to courageous, courageous people, true patriots of Russia.

That is how he will remain in people's memory.

The material was prepared according to the book by Zhitenev V.V. The height of Alexander Komyagin.
