Reading Psalms in various life situations. Reading Psalms in various life situations Psalm 52 in Russian

IN THE ARRANGEMENT OF PSALM 52.

PSALM 52

The madman in his heart said: "There is no God."
There is no truth on earth. Debauchery all around.
The people are not good. Forgotten Covenant!
And people do crime.

The Lord looked down on the earth from heaven.
There is no truth on earth among the sons.
Everyone evaded... The world is ruled by a demon!
There is no one who understands God's words.

Really, God, a lawless race,
Eating your people like bread,
Do not understand fear, do not understand
That he will die from future troubles.

And fear will seem to the sinner,
Where there is no fear, where there is only emptiness.
The Lord will scatter the bones of sinners into dust
And shame them with the glory of Christ.

Who will save Zion from captivity?
Lord, when the last day comes!
Then with delight among the tribes
Israel and Jacob will sing.

In Russian poetry, the genre of poetic transcription of psalms was widespread.
You say, why transcribe the biblical psalms? Wouldn't it be better to read the original?

Here you need to understand that poetic transcriptions do not compete with the original and do not pretend to be read instead. Obviously, the verses cannot replace the psalms of David, but they can help to experience and understand them.

The psalms of David have the deepest power of divine inspiration and themselves inspire many spiritual thoughts and feelings. Poetic transcriptions are the experience of the spiritual experience of the sacred psalms. In addition, the arrangements are reminiscent of the poetic fundamental principle of the Psalter, because in the original, King David had this precisely - poetry, rhythmic poetic lines (by the way, the word "verses" has a biblical origin). In this sense, they have every right to exist within the framework of literature.

The Church has never opposed such poetic transcriptions of the Psalms.
He became a pioneer in the 17th century. Hieromonk Simeon of Polotsk, who arranged all 150 psalms in syllabic verse, compiling the collection Rhyming Psalter.
Psalms were transposed in the 18th century by V. Trediakovsky, M. Lomonosov, G. Derzhavin.
Following them, poetic transcriptions of the psalms were written by many poets of the 19th century, in particular V. Zhukovsky, F. Glinka, N. Yazykov, V. Kuchelbeker. Interestingly, the famous fabulist I. Krylov wrote many odes and imitations of psalms.
In the twentieth century, for obvious reasons, this tradition was interrupted. But in recent decades it has reawakened. Arrangements by N. Grebnev, S. Averintsev, Hieromonk Roman Matyushin are known.

1. To the end, O Maeleth, reason to David, 52

2. The speech is foolish in his heart: there is no God.
Corrupted and disgusted in iniquity, do not do good.
3. God is from heaven on the sons of men,
see if there is understanding or seeking God.
4. All evading, together they were indecent:
do not do good, carry to one.
5. Will all those who do iniquity understand,
my people who eat my bread? Don't call on the Lord.
6. There, being afraid of fear, where there is no fear:
like the God of scattering the bones of men-pleasers:
ashamed, as if God had humbled them.
7. Who will give the salvation of Israel from Zion?
God will always return the captivity of his people,
Jacob will rejoice, and Israel will rejoice.

who eat my people as they eat bread,

You will shame them because God rejected them.

108 Psalm - prayer-curse. It contains the wish "Let his children be orphans, and his wife a widow." Psalm 109 is David's prayer to the Lord, in which he asks for revenge on his enemies who relentlessly pursue him. This psalm is replete with curses, mostly directed at one of David's sworn enemies. Many people offer prayers for the death of their enemies. But not all of these prayers reach God. In addition, often evil thoughts directed against someone turn against the person praying. It means that in heaven they hear those prayers that should be heard. This psalm is analogous to the cabalistic ritual of Pulse de-nura.

Introductory Prayers:

"Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Eternal Heavenly Father, You said with Your pure lips that nothing can be done without You. I ask for your help! To begin every business with You, for Your glory and the salvation of my soul. And now, and forever, and forever and ever. Amen."

"King of Heaven, Comforter, Soul of Truth, Who is everywhere and fills everything, Treasury of good things and Giver of life, come and dwell in us, and cleanse us from all filth, and save, O Blessed, our souls."

"Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us"(3 times)

"All-holy Trinity, God and Creator of the whole world, hasten and direct my heart, start with reason and finish good deeds inspired by this book, even the Holy Spirit will burp the mouth of David, even now I want to speak az, unworthy, understanding my ignorance, falling down I pray to You , and asking for help from You: Lord, direct my mind and strengthen my heart, not about the words of the mouth to stop this, but about the mind of the verbs to be glad, and get ready to do good deeds, I am learning, and I say: yes good deeds I am enlightened, I will be a partaker with all Your chosen ones at the judgment of the right hand of You. And now, Lord, bless, yes, sighing from the heart, and I will sing with my tongue, saying to this:

Come, let us worship our King God.

Come, let us bow down and bow down to Christ, our King God.

Come, let us bow down and bow down to Christ Himself, the King and our God."

"Our Father, who art in heaven! your name, may your kingdom come, may your will be done, as in heaven and on earth. Give us our daily bread today; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one."(3 times)

Closing prayers:

"King of Heaven, Comforter, Soul of Truth, Who is everywhere and fills everything, Treasury of good things and Giver of life, come and dwell in us, and cleanse us from all filth, and save, O Blessed, our souls."

“Give thanks to the unworthy of Your servants, Lord, for Your great blessings on us who were, glorifying You, we praise, bless, thank, sing and magnify Your goodness, and slavishly love crying out to You: Our benefactor Savior, glory to You. servant of indecent, vouchsafed, Master, diligently flowing to you, giving thanks according to strength, and glorifying you as the Benefactor and Creator, crying out: glory to you, God the All-Bountiful, glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and forever and ever. Amen."

"Theotokos, Christian Helper, Thy intercession has been acquired by Thy servants, we cry out thankfully to Thee: Rejoice, Most Pure Theotokos Virgin, and always deliver us from all troubles with Thy prayers, One who soon intercedes. We thank Thee, O Lord our God, for all Thy good deeds, even from the first age to the present, in us, unworthy Thy servants (names), who were, they are also visible and not visible, about the manifested and the unmanifested, even the deeds of the former and the word: loving us, as if and Thy only-begotten Son for us to give, vouchsafe us worthy of being Thy love. Give by Your word wisdom and Your fear, inhale strength from Your strength, and if we sin willingly or unwillingly, forgive and do not blame, and save our holy soul, and present to Your Throne, I have a clean conscience, and the end is worthy of Your humanity; And remember, Lord, all who call upon Your name in truth; the same we pray to Thee, O Lord, grant us Thy benevolence and great mercy."

"The Cathedral of the Holy Angels and Archangels, with all heavenly powers, sings to Thee, and says: Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of Hosts, fulfill heaven and earth with Your glory. Hosanna in the highest, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, Hosanna in the highest. Save me, Izhe Thou art in the highest King, save me and sanctify me, Source of sanctification; from Thee, for all creation is strengthened, To Thee, without number, they sing the thrice-holy song. Cleanse your heart, and open your mouth, that I may worthily sing to You: Holy, Holy, Holy are you, Lord, always, now, and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

"Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of God, prayers for the sake of Your Most Holy Mother, our reverend and God-bearing fathers and all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen."

To the end, oh Maelef

(about rejoicing), reason to David.

This psalm is similar to the 13th psalm, only two verses longer than it. Therefore, only we will explain them here, since the explanation of other verses is made in the 13th psalm. Two verses are added here so that it does not seem that this psalm is mistakenly counted twice; but so that it can be seen that although both of these psalms are one in pronunciation of words, they differ in thought, because the first condemns the fury and malice of Sennacherib and Rapsakus, which they showed against Ezekiah, and the last psalm accuses the fury of the Jews against Christ.

If this psalm did not differ in thought from the 13th, then it would not be counted twice and would not be repeated, and like the 70 interpreters who translated it, and the fathers who explained it, would not have made such an error. Moreover, this psalm also has a different inscription, different from the inscription of the 13th psalm, indicating the end to the reader because of the prophecies contained in it about the Jews, which were fulfilled at the end. The inscription about "Maelefe" means the same as about the face, where the preposition οπερ is used instead of περι by transference. Reading this psalm, we Christians rejoice because of the fulfillment of what it predicts (1).

(1) St. Gregory of Nyssa: When you hear that in the inscription the word “towards the end” follows “about Maeleph”, then you should know that this is mysteriously giving you advice - not to weaken in the fight against temptations, but to look at the end of victory, which consists in the fact that your soul will be numbered with the angelic face, after its purification through the attack of temptations, as we hear about their attack on Lazarus. Here, perhaps, someone will ask, why is this psalm written twice? To this we answer that godlessness, according to which another says that there is no God, is a great and terrible sin, that the Holy Spirit was not satisfied with a single exposure of this sin, but considered it necessary twice, through severe denunciations and accusations, to disgrace and smit him, to show how ungodly and God-hated he is before all other sins. And Litinus in his psalter adds a second reason, that is, that the 13th psalm is written prophetically about Nebuchadnezzar and the Babylonians, and this one may be written about Antiochus Epiphanes; also appends the third, which is the 13th psalm. contains a prophecy about the corrupt world and the contemporaries of David, and this one about the contemporaries of Christ. And I will add a fourth reason why that psalm was written twice, because it mentions the corrupted morals of people who lived before Christ, in which sense St. Paul. So, in order to show how necessary the coming of Christ was, he described the corrupt state of people, which required a Savior and Redeemer.

For Jacob will rejoice, he says, and Israel will rejoice; and we are the new Israel, as we explained in the 13th psalm. The expression: reason means that those who read this psalm need understanding in order to know that although it has similarities with the 13th psalm in words, it has a mysterious difference in thoughts. So, only these two different verses will we begin to explain, since this psalm exceeds the 13th psalm by them, as we said.

. The speech is foolish in his heart: there is no God; corrupted and disgusted in iniquity, do not do good(1).

Look for explanations of these words in the 13th psalm; and the expression "in lawlessness", which is here, is replaced there by the word: "in their undertakings" (in their aspirations), - "do not do good", in the 13th psalm is: "do no good".

(1) Basil the Great says: The disagreement of life with the commandments can be called a sign of renunciation of God, according to the words: the fool said: there is no God, but as if for some indication of him, - to reveal who he is, (David) adds: they are corrupted in iniquities. For this Scripture signifies a falling away from general concepts about God, and the impious and godless thought that dominated all mankind before the appearance of the Savior and shows that the most pernicious depravity is, as it were, a feature of such wickedness nesting. And how they corrupted the healthy seeds sown in themselves about God and gave themselves up to the service of vile idols, dividing wickedness into perfect godlessness and polytheism, and it happened that, according to their godless and vile deeds, they fell into all kinds of evil; then these fools, that is, the atheists, having expelled piety from their souls, together with him, as with a king, cast out all virtue, assuring themselves that there is no helmsman who would hold the rudders of all creation, without fear they do any inappropriateness. The words of his brother St. Gregory of Nyssa: As a madman speaks in his heart, that is, he thinks that there is no God over everything. Having become corrupted and vile in such actions of the mind: for falling away from what exists is truly corruption and destruction in the very composition. For how can anyone be in his being without being in being? How can anyone be in being without believing in the being of being? And the truly existing God must exist without fail, as the vision of the God who appeared to him testified to the great Moses. So, whoever casts out the existence of God from his mind and says that He does not exist, damages his own existence and loses what is essential. Therefore, the thought that there is no God and Provider is the cause of our corruption in iniquities; but a corrupted life makes us vile and hateful to God, why is it necessary that a doctor come and heal our corruption, bring those who have become disgusting closer to him. Words of Hesychius: Whose would it be if not a fool, about whom Isaiah also said: a fool speaks foolish and his heart thinks about vain (). What does it mean? that, acting badly and absurdly and seeing God's long-suffering toward us, instead of thanking and glorifying Him as good and gentle, they fall into madness, thinking that God does not observe human deeds, but that everything is done without reason and by chance . Didymus also speaks beautifully: He who thinks evil of God also strives for another evil: having expelled piety from his soul, he, together with it, expels every virtue that follows piety as his king.

. God is from heaven on the sons of men, to see, if there is, understand, or seek God

. All deviating, together the indecent Bysh: do not do good, carry to one(not a single one - there is: do good deeds).

. Do not all those who work iniquity, my people who eat bread in the food, understand, do not call on the Lord.

. There, being afraid of fear, where there is no fear

An explanation of these words can be seen in the 13th psalm. But there it says "feared", but here "feared".

Like God scattering the bones of people-pleasers

Here David calls the Jews men-pleasers, which name Christ repeatedly reproached them with when he called them hypocrites and judging by outward appearances. For out of human pleasing, the Jews said for the pleasure, or the pleasing of the Caesars: Everyone who makes himself a king is an adversary to Caesar; also: we have no king but Caesar (); and they said to Pilate: if you let him go, then you are not a friend of Caesar (). So, these human-pleasing Jews are the bones, or the tribes that make up the Jewish race, as the body is made of bones - these, I say, God scattered and scattered the tribes, so that they would be slaves and subject to all peoples. Or so, that when the Jews were destroyed by the weapons of the Romans, their dead bodies and bones were torn to pieces wild animals, kites and other carnivorous birds (1).

(1) Words of Theodoret: He who calls a man-pleaser and Rapsakus, who, being from the tribe of Jews, refined his tongue in blasphemy, thinking by this to please the Assyrians, will not sin. (And equally) some, under Julian the apostate, who reigned after this, leaving God, were left mutually and from Him.

Being ashamed, like God humiliate them

The Jews, he says, among all nations have turned into shame and disgrace, because they lead the most miserable and superstitious life, having become more unhappy than all the people of this world. And this they suffered because Christ humiliated them, making them the object of reproach of the whole world (1).

(1) The words of St. Kirilla: What bones is he talking about? about the powers of the teachings of the Greeks and the wicked, which they concluded in their writings. For they found pleasure in the brilliance of expressions and in the composition of words, for which he calls them people-pleasers. But the power of their teaching, which is expressed in the name of bones, was completely destroyed by Christ, who showed it to be inactive and humiliated them, that is, the writers of the Hellenic dogmas.

. Who will give the salvation of Israel from Zion; God will always bring back the captivity of his people, Jacob will rejoice, and Israel will rejoice

For an explanation of these words, see the 13th psalm. And the words of this psalm: when "God" returns, they read there: when "Lord" returns.

The interpretation of the Orthodox psalm 52 noticeably echoes the interpretation of psalm 13. Both of them were written during the persecution of David by King Saul, who knew that the young psalmist was appointed as his successor, but could not come to terms with this thought, and wanted to destroy a potential rival.

The Christian text of Psalm 52 contains contrition of the future great king of Israel, not so much about his own disasters, but about the lack of faith and piety among the entire human race.

When is it customary to read the prayer of Psalm 52?

In the text of the Christian psalm 52, the main idea is traced: the main reason for all lawlessness and sin is the denial of the existence of God by man. An unbeliever does not have a moral guideline, he does not have the feeling that the Lord sees all his deeds and thoughts, therefore he gradually moves to the side of serving evil. The psalm also implies that a believer, on the contrary, feels the constant presence of God, and this keeps him within the framework of spiritual laws. Reading and listening online Psalm 52 is recommended for fishermen to make good fishing.

Psalm 52: The Madness of Atheism

The main difference between this psalm and Psalm 13 is that the name of God here is not Jehovah, but Elohim. In Psalm 13, the madman denies the existence of a God who keeps the covenant (Jehovah, the Lord), who is very interested and concerned about the well-being of His people. Here the madman denies the existence of a mighty sovereign God (Elohim), who preserves the universe and governs it.

(Introduction to Ps. 52) Psalm 13 uses the name Jehovah four times and Elohim three times. Here the name Elohim occurs seven times.

God can be denied in various ways: some deny that the Creator is interested in any human race or group of people; others deny any possibility of God's existence ( Scripture Union Daily Notes).

52:2 A madman is not necessarily narrow-minded or stupid. He may be a brilliant intellectual in terms of modern education, but at the same time do not pay attention to the evidence of the personality, power and providence of God. He lives in conscious ignorance. "The corresponding Hebrew word conveys the idea of a conscious reluctance to acknowledge the truth."

Atheism is associated with degradation and vice, sometimes it is their cause, sometimes it is a consequence. Therefore, it is not surprising that those who say: "There is no Elohim" are corrupted and commit heinous crimes. None of them do good.

52:3 From atheists in particular, we move on to humanity in general. Paul quotes passages from this verse in Romans 3, pointing out the total sinfulness of all mankind. This accusation is, of course, true. Looking down from heaven on the sons of men, God sees no one who in himself has the wisdom to fear God. If it were not for the ministry of the Holy Spirit, no one would seek God.

52:4 All have turned away from the living God. They have all become useless. No one does good in the sense that no one by his actions can earn the mercy and favor of the Lord. 52:5, 6 We turn to a specific type of sinner, namely those apostates who persecute God's people. How can they be so shortsighted? They show cruelty and do not pray. They destroy the faithful as easily as they eat bread. They do not feel the need to turn to God in prayer. Apparently, they do not think that one day they will be seized with an incomparable fear. God will scatter the bones of those who fight against His faithful followers.

52:7 In the last verse, David is praying for the coming of the Messiah. This is the Deliverer who will come from Zion (Rom. 11:26) and save the believers of Israel. On that day Israel will be restored, then Jacob will rejoice and Israel will rejoice.
