Meet herpetologist Nikolai Doroshenko! In Sihanoukville, there was an attempt on the life of one of the most influential Russians in Cambodia, Nikolai Doroshenko, Vietnam

We sail to the farthest Cambodian island on the fastest boat available in Sihanoukville: it takes about an hour to get there in calm seas and an hour and a half if there are waves. Two Cambodian generals with accompanying persons are the first to arrive at the pier near the main Russian club of the city "Airport", the last is General Danila from Russia (name changed), with a small dog and household members.

Pier, boat, beach and club belong to a modest Russian biologist NicholasDoroshenko who came to Cambodia in 1993 and made an impressive career here. Today he is the most famous Cambodian Russian - behind his back they call him the Russian mafia, an oligarch and a baron. The image of a serious businessman is complemented by two Hummer jeeps, a ring with a black stone received from one of Pol Pot's generals, and the Snakehouse Hotel, which contains a collection of the most poisonous snakes in Cambodia, as well as fifty crocodiles, one of which is sitting on a chain right in the restaurant hall .

Doroshenko has a reputation in Cambodia as a problem solver, from obtaining a building license for something that can't be officially built in that place to finding a local girl who ran away with other people's things. Usually the success of a foreigner in an Asian country depends on how well he can play by local rules, but Doroshenko went further - he is actively involved in their development.

One of Doroshenko's main projects is to attract investments from Russia to develop several islands along the coast of Cambodia. He is sure that the south of Cambodia can be turned into a "second Thailand", where the rich will come to rest - from Russia and not only. Today there are already four "Russian" islands, each of which has its own, often difficult history. However, Doroshenko is simply not interested in building - among his new projects are the creation of a Russian school, a museum about the period of Pol Pot's rule, and the only specialized snakebite clinic in Cambodia.

Military base

General Danila represents the interests of the main investor in the development of the island of Koh Tang - the Monarch group, in the wilds of offshore relationships of which Russian founders are hiding. The island is one of the largest in Cambodia: 600 hectares of jungle and five sandy bays, each of which is planned to build a five-star hotel. The central one will be an exact copy of the main tourist attraction of Cambodia - the Angkor Wat temple complex. Tourists will be delivered by high-speed boats and small aircraft (it is planned to build a small airfield on the island).

The islands are not for sale, they can only be rented for 99 years - 600 hectares of Koh-Tang will cost Monarch only 30 thousand dollars a year, and for the first ten years you can not pay rent at all. It is not surprising that under such conditions, many islands are assigned by companies to each other several times - the “right of first lease” is often received by organizations with good connections but often without sufficient financial resources. Due to the crisis, there is not enough money for construction and Monarch

Interfax reported on Wednesday with reference to Polonsky's press service.

“On Wednesday, after a long search and negotiations with relatives, the Cambodian police arrested a businessman, former partner Polonsky on Doroshenko's Cambodian projects," the press release quoted the agency as saying.

The press service of Polonsky said that Doroshenko was arrested on charges of embezzlement of someone else's property on an especially large scale, forgery of documents and a number of other crimes. "According to the Criminal Code of Cambodia, these crimes are punishable by at least ten years in prison," the press release said. It states that "using the full confidence of Polonsky, Doroshenko transferred almost all of his property to his name and refused to return it."

In Russia, Polonsky was charged in absentia with embezzlement of 5.7 billion rubles from equity holders of the housing complex "Kutuzovskaya Mile", as well as in embezzlement of more than 150 million rubles from equity holders of Rublyovskaya Riviera. The cases were merged into one proceeding. In August 2013, the Tverskoy Court of Moscow arrested in absentia businessman.

The Prosecutor General's Office in November 2013 sent to Cambodia request for the extradition of a businessman, but the local court suspended consideration of the request.

[LifeNews.Ru, 03/25/2015, "Polonsky: I will celebrate when Doroshenko is imprisoned for 10 years": Polonsky hiding in Cambodia is glad that the court arrested his former business partner, because in addition to trying to take possession of the businessman's property, Doroshenko wrote false denunciations on Sergei. In particular, when the businessman's car was set on fire, it was Polonsky who was accused.
“I will celebrate when Doroshenko is sentenced to ten years,” exclaimed former leader development company Mirax Group. At the same time, Polonsky's lawyers added that, most likely, the detained businessman faces five to seven years.
As Sergei Vladi noted, the proceedings have been going on for several months. During this time, Doroshenko was repeatedly summoned to court, but he refused to attend meetings. In addition, Polonsky offered to resolve the conflict peacefully if the businessman returns all the seized property. However, Doroshenko stubbornly resisted the investigation and "felt untouchable." - Inset K.ru]

Sergei Polonsky does not own islands in Cambodia

Yuri Denisovich

Detained in Cambodia, Russian businessman Sergei Polonsky does not own the islands in this country. "The conversation was only about Polonsky's plans to invest in development projects on the seven islands," he told the correspondent. ITAR-TASS is an informed local source in the province of Sihanoukville, where the businessman lived before the arrest.

The interlocutor of the agency denied the allegations of lawyer Alexander Karabanov, who on Thursday told reporters that the islands allegedly owned by Polonsky in Cambodia were occupied by his former partner Nikolai Doroshenko. “Polonsky didn’t own anything. He only paid the local authorities the due fee for processing the documents necessary to start the investment project, which included seven islands. There is no question of Polonsky’s property rights to these islands,” the source explained.

He also noted that the island of Koh Dek Kul with a private hotel, where the businessman lived when he came to Cambodia, is also not in his ownership. "Fifty percent of the island originally belonged to a local entrepreneur, Cambodian citizen Nikolai Doroshenko, who, by the way, pays taxes to the Cambodian state for the maintenance of the island. Sergei Polonsky transferred the second half to his former partners in Russia a few years ago," the source explained. [...]

["Kommersant", 01/22/2015, "Sergey Polonsky became a Cambodian victim": Former serviceman Doroshenko became interested in studying snakes more than 20 years ago and moved to the Kingdom of Cambodia for permanent residence, where he built a serpentarium, and also began to breed crocodiles. Seven years later, he received the citizenship of Cambodia, and his son got a job in the local police of Sihanoukville. By this time, Nikolai Doroshenko had also taken up the restaurant business, and as a resident in this country, he began to participate, together with other Russian businessmen, in investing in the construction of local infrastructure. The Russians willingly used his help, because until recently, businessmen who did not have Cambodian citizenship could not have real estate or land on the territory of the kingdom. One of his business partners in this field was the founder of Mirax Group, Sergei Polonsky. [...]
Meanwhile, Mr. Polonsky himself sent a statement to the Cambodian law enforcement agencies that his former partner Nikolai Doroshenko, back in 2013, having received $ 1 million from him, undertook to issue a return to Mr. Polonsky of the islands of Koh Mui, Koh Pi, Koh Damlong and Koh Prince, included in the tourist investment project "Archipelago". These islands, according to Mr. Polonsky, were purchased with his funds, but registered in the name of his partner as a resident. According to the applicant, his business partner Doroshenko did not fulfill his obligations, although he gave a receipt that he would do this within three and a half months from the moment the receipt was issued. In Cambodia, the islands of the archipelago are state property, but recent changes in legislation allow their transfer to the use of a foreigner for investment projects. Currently, Sergei Polonsky is engaged in the construction of tourism infrastructure on the islands of Cambodia.
According to Ilya Rosenfeld, the article of the Criminal Code of the Kingdom of Cambodia "Violation of agreements", according to which a warrant for the arrest of Doroshenko was issued, equates this act with fraud and misappropriation of someone else's property. - Inset K.ru]

Doroshenko accused Polonsky of assassination attempt

Ostap Doroshenko
On the evening of November 27, 2014, an assassination attempt took place in Sihanoukville on Ostap Doroshenko, the son of a famous millionaire and one of the most influential people in the city, Nikolai Doroshenko. But the target of the assassination attempt was Nikolai himself.

The criminals got in touch via Skype, introduced themselves as relatives of Denis Valov, who got into an unpleasant situation and asked for $1,000 for the services of a lawyer. Nikolai himself was supposed to come to the meeting, but he sent his son Ostap, the captain of the Cambodian immigration police.

The beaten Ostap miraculously managed to close himself in the car. Local residents came running to the noise, who frightened off the criminals who fled in a Toyota Camry.

[fox2fox.today, 11/28/2014, "There was an assassination attempt on one of the most influential Russians in Cambodia in Sihanoukville": Ostap arrived at the meeting place in uniform. As soon as he opened the car door, a blow to the jaw followed, and several blows to the side with a stun gun. Then Ostap began to choke.
He tried to get a pistol, but a clip fell out in the struggle. While the criminals were distracted by the gun, Ostap was able to jump into the car and drive away.
The result of the assassination attempt was a broken jaw in two parts and a missing pistol.
Ostap Doroshenko remembered the attackers well. They were two strong Russians. They wanted to kill or kidnap him for the purpose of ransom - this still remains a mystery. The police have compiled an identikit, and they are also processing fingerprints left on Ostap's clothes and car.
According to unconfirmed reports, the assassination attempt took place in the Independens beach area. - Inset K.ru]

“My son was beaten by Polonsky's people,” he said. “If I had gone to the meeting, they would have simply killed me.” Last year Polonsky threatened to kill the whole family of Nikolai Doroshenko.

Polonsky himself denies the allegations.

An interesting fact: shortly before the assassination attempt, Polonsky's former lawyer Diana Tatosova appeared in Sihanoukville, who booked several rooms in the Sokha hotel in her name. And after the failed assassination attempt, she, in the company of three men, hastily left the city and went ... to the island of Polonsky Koh Dek Kul.

Prisoner Polonsky: "Colin [Nikolai Doroshenko] was a lawyer ... was ... Although, we had, at most, smuggling there ... he extorted 20 thousand from us, pts"

Polonsky accused his partners of cheating

Nikita Mogutin

At the disposal of Life News was an exclusive video of the quarrel between Sergei Polonsky and his friends. The skirmish took place in the Sihanoukville prison in Cambodia.

The infamous ex-head of Mirax Group, holding a Lately his everyday life within the walls of the correctional institution, I am sure that he became a victim of a cunning plan of the adviser to the Prime Minister of Cambodia, Nikolai Doroshenko.

Polonsky expresses his claims to the adviser's son Ostap Doroshenko. During the quarrel, Polonsky emotionally shouts out that he was set up, forced to sign certain documents, but was never released, despite promises to release him.

The businessman wants to refuse the services of Ostap, who previously represented his interests.

In a fit of rage, the billionaire charges that he is behind bars because of a false statement by Cambodian sailors who were persuaded to accuse him of the attack.

Polonsky behaves extremely emotionally, actively gesticulates, rushes from side to side, sits down on a bench and immediately jumps up, nervously tries to smoke. However, the video speaks for itself:

P: "Ostap, Ostap, we are sitting here, we are sitting here, Ostap, we are not in business at all!"

A: "You understand, everyone demands, they don't let you in..."

P: "Please, on what basis, let the trial be held, the trial was, you saw that you were smiling, the trial was!"

Polonsky's speech is interspersed every second with obscene language. Having lit a cigarette, he smokes in short and frequent puffs and behaves very nervously, because from an interesting adventure, the “Cambodian imprisonment” threatens to develop into a real criminal case.

One of Russia's most notorious billionaires got into trouble in Cambodia at the very beginning of January. Another scandalous trick of the 40-year-old ex-owner of Mirax Group was a brawl on one of the islands. The businessman was accused of attacking members of the crew of a small vessel cruising in coastal waters.

According to representatives of Polonsky, all the sailors have already withdrawn their statements, but the local court has left him in custody for an indefinite period. [...]

Many who are interested in Cambodia, whether tourists, travelers or entrepreneurs looking for new business opportunities, sooner or later hear the name Nicholas Doroshenko.
In English-language online publications, you can often read rather strange statements about Doroshenko, allegedly he is the "leader of the Russian mafia", buying up islands and beaches and exploiting poor Cambodians. Obviously, the authors of these articles know how things really are, but their "jealousy" for the influence and weight in the Cambodian state that Nikolai Doroshenko and Russian people in general have is showing. Cambodians still respect our country, many of them received good Soviet education during the existence of the USSR.

Nikolai Doroshenko was born in Uzbekistan, before the collapse of the USSR he worked as a biologist, studied herpetology at the Institute of Vaccines and Serums. When the working conditions for scientists deteriorated greatly, Nikolai left not for civilized countries, but for the distant and exotic country of Cambodia. The exotic fauna of this country will not leave anyone indifferent, Doroshenko began to do what he knew and loved, and even made several discoveries of new animal species.

Doroshenko's visit to Cambodia took place in troubled times(1993), when chaos reigned in the country, change of regimes and ruling parties, Pol Pot was still alive, removed from power, but his Khmer Rouge still represented a serious military force. Doroshenko was repeatedly captured and witnessed events, many of which are still not documented, although they can shed light on many events of that time. According to Doroshenko, an unambiguous assessment of those events is unacceptable. Yes, during the years of the military regime, about 2 million people were killed, but for some reason no one wants to think about the negative role of Vietnam in the history of Cambodia, which essentially robbed this country for many years, and about the role of the Soviet Union, which stood behind it with an invisible shadow. Vietnam.

A simple Russian biologist, who found himself in a country torn apart by warring parties, took up the protection of practically untouched nature, participated in the opening of a zoo in Phnom Penh, and organized research expeditions into the jungle.

Now Nikolai Doroshenko is a successful businessman, a member of the ruling party and a citizen of Cambodia, who, in addition to his commercial activities, does not forget to provide all possible assistance to the local population with snake bites. Local residents prefer to seek help in Snake House (Snake House)- a hotel complex in Sihanoukville, owned by Doroshenko. This is because many do not have enough money to go to local clinics, and at Snake House (recently a clinic helped by Doroshenko to open), they receive the vaccine for free. Bites by venomous snakes in this country, unfortunately, happen very often and are one of the main causes of death or injury to Cambodians (up to 800 cases annually, much more than mine explosions left over from recent wars).

Currently, Nikolay Doroshenko, together with his son Ostap, who is a high rank in the emigration police, is trying to unofficially control the processes associated with the arrival of Russian tourists and businessmen in Cambodia. Of course, Cambodia needs to increase the tourist flow. But the audience is different: not only ordinary tourists, but also backpackers who do not shy away from drug use, and "business" people who have a "criminal trail" in their homeland. For such "guests" supervision will not hurt.

Finding Nikolai Doroshenko is quite easy, he lives permanently in Sihanoukville. If you saw a white "Hummer", then it is almost certainly Nikolai (or Ostap) in it. Well, or visit the Snake House restaurant, the owner rarely refuses to get to know you, especially if you plan to stay in Cambodia for a long time.

SNAKE HOUSE (http://snakehouse.com)

Hotel "Snake house" 3* ("Snake House") consists of detached 2-storey cottages, surrounded by a picturesque garden, reminiscent of the jungle. The garden occupies almost the entire territory of the hotel. There is a restaurant on the territory, in the center of which there is a huge pool with fish and a turtle. Among the lush vegetation of the garden there are several artificial reservoirs abounding with water lilies, in the waters of which “golden” fish swim, and whimsical shadows of characters from oriental mythologies are reflected from the surface.
The restaurant offers Khmer, Asian, European and, of course, Russian cuisine. Next to the restaurant is one of the largest in the Southeast

Twenty years ago, a young zoologist Kolya Doroshenko, thirty years old, stood at the broken trough. The newly independent Latvia severely squeezed out the Russians, and he lost his home and business.

No one was waiting for him anywhere. He set out on a free voyage and ended up in Cambodia with twenty dollars in his pocket. Today Nicholas is one of the most famous and respected people of this small kingdom, a citizen and patriot of Cambodia.

IT ALL STARTED WITH SNAKE

“I live in a beautiful country, the most convenient for business, especially for foreigners, and the most free in the world. It's warm here, the weather is wonderful, people are wonderful, the authorities don't spread rot on anyone - life is good! I love Cambodia, my son Ostap and I are citizens of the country, Khmer Russians, and we are ready to fight for it if necessary,” Nikolai Doroshenko says about himself.

A slender, light-brown, blue-eyed, youthful and charming zoologist-turned-businessman sits by the swimming pool in his luxurious tropical garden in Sihanoukville, on the shores of the Gulf of Thailand in Cambodia. There's a whole collection in the garage expensive cars from Hummer to Bentley.

The times were difficult. Cambodia has been ravaged for many years civil war and intervention. Pol Pot was still in the jungle. The outskirts of the capital were mined. There were two prime ministers in the city, and their supporters were in constant struggle with each other. Nikolai befriended the Minister of Ecology, won his trust with stories about animals, and found himself a job at the Ministry of Ecology. That's how it started new life, the third in a row.

And the first life was in a town near Tashkent (Almalyk). Nikolai's father was a photographer and artist who left his foot on the fields of the Great Patriotic War. Doroshenko - from the breed of Russian settlers, that is, strong and energetic people who grew up in the near abroad - in Central Asia and the Caucasus. They remind me of the British, born and raised in India and Africa. This, as a rule, is a hard-working and successful people, never giving up and easily coexisting among other peoples.

Nikolai studied to be a zoologist, and then left for the Latvian Liepaja. He recalls those years with a sense of slight nostalgia, like a lost paradise: “ Soviet time was great - we had values. Our generation has received everything that our fathers and grandfathers fought for. We got apartments for free, which are now worth millions. We didn't appreciate it."

Perestroika began, and young Doroshenko greeted it joyfully. Thus began his second life - the life of a successful businessman in the early nineties. He had a talent for entrepreneurship. He opened stores, transported biological raw materials for the Latvian industry from Central Asia. “I started a business and it went well. I knew right away that this was the Klondike. It was possible to make fantastic money. I bought a BMW 7 back in 1990. I had my own boat, I built myself a big house, ”recalls Nikolai.

But the good life ended quickly. The bandits appeared. “At first they came to see, treated with respect. Then in Russia there were practically no brothers. In Latvia they appeared earlier. They robbed my store, locked the cashier girl inside and set it on fire. The Latvian authorities have incited us, Russian businessmen, Russian bandits. They were told: do whatever you want with them, - says my interlocutor. - I tried to negotiate, to pay - everything was in vain. You agree with one, another will come.

My business was strangled, the house was taken away - they said that it was built illegally. They took away the boat and gave it to the Latvians. And so they ruined almost the entire Russian business in Latvia with the hands of Russian bandits. And when this work was completed, and not a minute earlier, the Latvian police caught and imprisoned all Russian bandits.

KHMER ASSISTANT

So Nikolai was stranded, but he did not lose heart and gathered in Southeast Asia. First he went to Malaysia, then to Thailand, Laos - he did not particularly like anywhere. And only then he came to Cambodia, having already spent a lot of money. There was nowhere else to go.

In his third life, Nikolai helped the Khmers (as the inhabitants of Cambodia are called) to rebuild their country after the military devastation. There were no specialists or foreigners in the country - and he was in demand. Having become an employee of the Ministry of Ecology, he traveled all over the country, equipped parks and reserves, and then created a wonderful zoo in the capital. Animals taken from smugglers were the first to get there.

Nikolai created the first NGO - a network of snakebite treatment points. There are a lot of snakes in Cambodia, and in the past, those who were bitten simply died. He began to develop serums, trained doctors, taught them diagnostics and treatment. Thousands of people were saved from certain death.

Nicholas left the capital for Sihanoukville, Cambodia's only port and resort on the coast of the Gulf of Thailand, where he once bought land on the cheap, despite his wife's protests. He built himself a hut, a new difficult life began. He went to sea, fished, he sold his catch at the market. They lived very hard. From old memory, he began to work at the "snake farm", which belonged to the Chinese, and then opened a small restaurantand arranged an exhibition of snakes in it - like ten years ago.

And it worked again. “People went and began to ask: can you help buy land, arrange a deal, get permission? I say I can. Because I know many ministers personally. After all, I grew up in Uzbekistan - and here it looks like Uzbekistan. Khmers are my Uzbeks. I love them."

And he has become a real estate broker for those who want to buy a house, apartment or even an island, because in Cambodia foreigners can legally acquire islands. And the price does not go off scale - from three hundred thousand dollars.

It's convenient in Cambodia. The authorities do not hand over anyone to the Americans, unlike Thailand. The visa regime is easy, it allows Russians to live here. Therefore, only in Sihanoukville there are already four hundred people of the Russian diaspora. But the main clients of Nikolai, according to him, are the Japanese, Chinese, Koreans.

But he did not part with the snakes. His house is called Snake Farm - "Snake Farm". Here snakes are bred, their poison is extracted. Tourists-adventurers can taste it in harmless microdoses (just as they advise on the Internet: “afftor, drink the hell”). Nikolai's wife Lena runs a small cozy hotel with a dozen rooms and runs a restaurant, and the restaurant is surrounded by a tropical garden... A good house, a good wife - what else does a person need? Probably, the readiness to meet any changes in fate without losing heart - and Nikolai has this in abundance.

Vladimir Dergachev

This is how the Classic Russian Center looks like on an advertising brochure for the sale of apartments and the lease of commercial real estate. Perhaps, after the completion of all work, its everyday appearance will approach the design one.

A small Russian diaspora settled in Sihanoukville, about 200 people, with Russian speakers - a little more. Russian business is represented by restaurants and nightclubs, hotels and construction projects. A profitable business is the construction of residential high-rise buildings and the sale of apartments with sea views.

***
The most famous representative of the Russian diaspora in Sihanoukville and Cambodia is a snake biologist and businessman Nikolai Doroshenko living in the country since 1993. In the 90s, during the Civil War, Doroshenko was captured by the Pol Potites and the opposing side. He dreamed of making a museum in Cambodia with "true information" about the tragic time. According to journalists meeting with him, Doroshenko clearly sympathizes with the Khmer Rouge, on whom they decided to blame all the victims of wartime: “The Vietnamese robbed Cambodia for ten years, why does no one write about this? And the Americans? If not for the Khmer Rouge, millions would have died of starvation in Cambodia.” The ruling People's Party considered that it was too early to raise this topic, more time is needed. There are many supporters of the Khmer Rouge in power in Cambodia today, especially among military. In the media, you can find information that Mykola Doroshenko is the Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Cambodia and many other myths that are discussed on the Internet.

Doroshenko received Cambodian citizenship in 2007 and is fluent in the Khmer language. He started with a non-governmental organization, created a veterinary rehabilitation center - at that time, edible animals from Cambodia were taken out by trucks across open borders. Then Doroshenko worked at the Council for the Development of Cambodia and Attracting Foreign Investment. This helped him develop his own business. Here he acquired connections, which he then actively used. Today he owns restaurants, beaches, luxury cars, builds high-rise apartments for sale. Doroshenko is a member of the ruling People's Party of Cambodia.

Russian Khmer seeks to support the Russian diaspora. Nikolai Doroshenko tried to create in Cambodia on the islands of the Gulf of Thailand an analogue of the seaside resorts of Thailand, attracting Russian investment. So far, not everything is working out with this on the four “Russian” islands. They write about his idea to erect a monument in Cambodia to 28 Soviet citizens who died during the time of Pol Pot.

http://pattayathailand.ru/images/photos/medium/article2148.jpg

Doroshenko is personally acquainted with the former King Norodom Sihanouk and the now living King Norodom Sihamoni, who presented him with a high award (order) for his contribution to nature conservation, the creation of a zoo in Phnom Penh and the saving of numerous lives of Khmers who suffered from snake bites.

After the civil war, a huge number of uncleared mines remained on the territory of Cambodia. In the 1990s, a special UN Service for Mine Action was created, and a number of non-governmental organizations are engaged in demining in Cambodia with significant funding. According to the Russian Khmer Nikolai Doroshenko: “The snake in Southeast Asia is the number one problem! It's a crawling mine! If a mine can be somehow secured, a mine can be somehow protected, then a snake cannot. Snake millions. Therefore, the activity of the biologist is aimed at teaching the Khmer to coexist safely next to snakes. In his rehabilitation center-clinic Snakehouse (snake house), Khmers are treated for free from a bite snake

His services to the Cambodian people are undeniable. Behind his eyes, he is called differently: the Russian mafia, the oligarch and the baron, the “decisive”. Indeed, he often acts as an intermediary in negotiations between a potential foreign investor and local authorities. There are arguments in the media about the nature of the origin of his capital. If you are passing through Sihanoukville, ask Doroshenko personally.

The help of Doroshenko, who has Cambodian citizenship, was readily used by the Russians in order to be able to do business in the kingdom. One of the business partners in this field was the founder of Mirax Group, the infamous Russian businessman Sergei Polonsky. Over time, hostile relations with mutual threats were established between business partners. Polonsky accused Doroshenko of misappropriating $10 million worth of his assets. Both repeatedly filed complaints against each other in local courts and the police, both were arrested. Polonsky was deported to Russia at the request of Interpol on May 17, 2005 and placed in the Matrosskaya Tishina pre-trial detention center in Moscow, while Doroshenko was released by the Cambodian authorities. On the Internet, you can see a photo of Doroshenko with Lieutenant General Hun Manet, the son of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen. By the way, the son of a biologist, Ostap, is the captain of the Cambodian immigration police, after a scandal with Russian businessman Sergei Polonsky, he was transferred to the personnel department of the Cambodian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Phnom Penh.

Polonsky's property was arrested in Sihanoukville, including the "bought" islands in the Gulf of Thailand. In Cambodia, offshore islands are state property and have been granted long-term leases for government-approved investment projects. Doroshenko Sr. was officially a co-investor in some of them.

In Cambodia, Polonsky, with the participation of Doroshenko, leased several islands from the Koh Tang archipelago and announced the start of construction of the Archipelago ecological resort. As a result, he managed to build 26 bungalows with communications on the island of Koh Damlong, equipped the beach, erected a pier and a restaurant. In May 2015, Polonsky was deported to Russia from Cambodia, where he had been since 2012, and placed in the Matrosskaya Tishina pre-trial detention center in Moscow. The ex-developer was accused of embezzling funds from equity holders during the construction of the Kutuzovskaya Mile and Rublyovskaya Riviera residential areas.

In Moscow, the Presnensky Court convicted Sergei Polonsky in the case of embezzlement of more than 2.6 billion rubles from equity holders during the construction of residential complexes in Moscow. The court sentenced the businessman to five years in prison for "committing fraud as part of an organized group on an especially large scale." And here the judge released Polonsky from punishment due to the expiration of the statute of limitations in his criminal case.

After the adventures of the "new Russians", the image of Russian business in Cambodia has been severely undermined. And, unfortunately, it's far from the only country. For example, . But the influence of the "civilized" West and the "sex tourism" of Thailand is often manifested in a poor country in the spread of prostitution, drug addiction, pedophilia and homosexuality.

After scandals with the "new Russians", the construction of the first Orthodox church in Cambodia has been completed. Russians far from their homeland remembered the soul. The temple was built by the entire Russian diaspora (Polonsky was not among the sponsors).

One of the sights of the city was the Classic Russian Center, located in a relatively picturesque place on Victory Hill. Here, in addition to residential apartments, there is an exhibition of Classic Cars of a private collection of rare cars and motorcycles by Nikolay Doroshenko. There is a jewelry and antiques boutique, which presents designer jewelry with natural precious stones from Cambodia and other countries of Southeast Asia, objects of Buddhist art and exclusive souvenirs. A restaurant and a fitness club are open. An impressive view of the Gulf of Siam opens from the observation deck, on which a real AN-24 aircraft stands. On the ground floor of the Classic is the largest aquarium in the city. You can also meet talking parrots there.

Center of Russian Life in Sihanoukville

Once every three months, several dozen compatriots gather here for a buffet table to chat in a comfortable environment. It can be useful and interesting for beginners to meet local old-timers of the Russian diaspora. Meetings are held, including on the veranda of the restaurant, where the An-24 aircraft is installed in all its glory. As I was told) the restaurant will bake Borodino bread for sale. There is no escape from nostalgia even in a tropical paradise.

The team of the Classic jewelry and antiques boutique with Russian biker Igor Sokolov (nickname "Sinus"), who traveled many thousands of kilometers in travels in Europe, Asia, North America and Australia. In Sihanoukville, the biker is implementing the Khmer Chronicles project (organizing individual extreme trips through the jungles of Cambodia on motorcycles for everyone). www.sinus.vl.ru, https://live.sinusmoto.ru/about_cambodia/

In the nightclub "Airport", owned by Doroshenko, the same AN-24 stands in the eternal parking lot.

On June 25, 2007, an An-24 crash occurred near Sihanoukville. The plane was on a passenger flight from Siem Reap to Sihanoukville, but crashed on approach to the airport, killing 22 people. The aircraft was produced by the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant in 1969. He flew in Russia (Magadan) and the Republic of the Congo. The crew consisted of 6 people, the commander was Nikolai Pavlenko, who had Uzbek citizenship. The remaining 5 crew members, including two flight attendants, were Cambodians. There were 16 passengers on board (13 from the Republic of Korea and 3 from the Czech Republic). The landing approach was carried out in conditions of heavy rain and low cloud cover, 5 minutes before landing, communication with the aircraft was lost. To search for the missing aircraft, 7 helicopters were used, and on June 27, search teams discovered the wreckage of the aircraft. 57 km from the airport, an An-24 flying in conditions of poor visibility at an altitude of about 500 meters crashed into the northeastern slope of Mount Bokor and completely collapsed.
According to a local Russian blogger, the AN-24 on the veranda of the restaurant is also the Cambodian answer to Thailand's Pattaya, where the plane's red fuselage crashes into the upper floors of the Royal Garden Plaza shopping mall. This is a kind of Khmer challenge to the Thai capital of a beach holiday.

Installation work on the installation of the aircraft is being completed

The Cambodian projects of the new Russian "Archipelago" and "Kazantip" on the Serpent Island, which were supposed to become centers of unity between man and nature, did not just burst like the "soap bubbles" of New Vasyukov. The Khmers will remember them for a long time because, unlike real Soviet Russians, who provide fraternal and often gratuitous assistance to other peoples, a new generation of crooks, marauders and even pedophiles of democratic Russia has appeared, disgracing its image abroad.

True, both the pedophile entrepreneur (executive director of the elite resort project on Zmeiny Island) and the scandalous businessman Polonsky, who were threatened with long prison terms, escaped with a slight fright. This is the merit of the most fair in relation to the rich Buratino courts in the world - Russian and Cambodian. At first, the court reduced the term for the pedophile, and in 2011 he was among those amnestied by the decree of the king. Earlier, Moscow sent a request to Cambodia to extradite Stanislav Molodyakov (aka Alexander Trofimov) on suspicion of similar crimes in Russia. However, the Cambodian government did not comply with the request.
