Literary competition. The story "I do not demand a reward" by our reader Svetlana Soroka. Reward. Current aphorisms about the award "He was given with a bow, around my neck ..."

(Story)

Before his menagerie, With the barons, with the crown prince, King Francis sat; From a high balcony he looked at the field, expecting a battle; Behind the king, bewitching the eyes of the ladies of the court, enchanting with the blossoming charm, was a magnificent row. The king signaled with his hand - The door opened with a thud, And a formidable beast With a huge head, A shaggy lion Comes out; Around the eyes sullenly leads; And so, looking around, He wrinkled his forehead with a proud posture, Moved his thick mane, And stretched, and yawned, And lay down. The king waved his hand again - The shutter of the iron door rattled, And the bold tiger jumped from behind the bars; But he sees a lion, becomes shy and roars, Beats himself with his tail on the ribs, And sneaks, squinting, And licks the muzzle with his tongue, And, bypassing the lion around, Grows and lies down next to him. And for the third time the king waved his hand - Two leopards in a friendly couple In one jump they found themselves over the tiger; But he gave them a blow with a heavy paw, And the lion stood up with a roar... They resigned themselves, Baring their teeth, moved away, And growled, and lay down. And the guests are waiting for the battle to begin. Suddenly, a woman's glove fell off the balcony... everyone is watching her... She fell among the animals. Then His beauty looks at the knight Delorge with a hypocritical And sharp smile and says: “When you love me, my faithful knight, as you say, You will return my glove.” Delorge, without answering a word, Goes to the beasts, Boldly he takes the glove And returns to the assembly again. The knights and ladies at such audacity From fear, the heart was clouded; And the young knight, As if nothing had happened to him, Calmly ascends the balcony; He was greeted with applause; He is greeted by beautiful glances... But, coldly accepting the greeting of her eyes, He threw a glove in her face and said: "I do not demand a reward."

Analysis of Zhukovsky's poem "Glove"

Not only Zhukovsky turned to the ballad of the same name by Schiller: in the 20-30s. 19th century several translations of the poetic text of the German author appeared.

Zhukovsky's arrangement, which was released in 1831, is considered the closest to the original in its content.

The plot was based on a case from the life of the French court. King Francis and his magnificent retinue gathered to have fun with a medieval game - a fight of wild animals.

At the sign of the monarch, the servants release dangerous animals into the arena: first the “shaggy lion”, then the “brave tiger”. The last to enter the field is a pair of leopards. The description of the habits of large cats is given a significant place in the creation of Zhukovsky. The lion is formidable and gloomy, endowed with a “proud posture”. The tiger, usually showing courage, at the sight of a lion "shy" and "sneaks", recognizing the superiority of the king of beasts. The shameless trick of the leopards, who tried to take the place of the tiger, is quickly suppressed. The reaction of predators is interesting: in order to appease the impudent ones, the tiger needed one blow with a “heavy paw”, and the lion only had to stand up “with a roar”. Order restored. All the animals settled down in places corresponding to their position in a small flock. The hierarchy of animals is paralleled by a brilliant society whose members are seated on balconies.

The pause caused by the expectation of the spectacle is broken by a bright detail - a woman's glove that fell into the arena. Two figures stand out from the rich crowd of spectators: the knight Delorge and "his beauty", whose smile receives a harsh characterization - "hypocritical and caustic". The noble lady sets a condition: in order to prove his love, the hero must return the glove to its owner.

The proud Delorge remains silent and outwardly imperturbable. The accuracy of the actions of a warrior is conveyed by homogeneous predicates: “goes”, “takes”, “returns”. The royal retinue, on the contrary, was seized by fear, which was replaced by delight. Using the general approval as a background, the lyrical narrator draws attention to the promising "look" of the insidious beauty. The cold-blooded Delorge remains indifferent to encouraging signs. He intends to punish the soulless coquette. By forcing the hero to risk his life for the sake of a trifle, the lady exposed herself: her act showed indifference to the love and fate of the knight. The story in verse ends with a contemptuous gesture of the hero, which is accompanied by a laconic phrase: "I do not demand a reward."

03/08/2010/13:42/ In the most difficult years for our people, thousands of doctors and nurses showed professional courage, gave high examples of philanthropy, humanism, loyalty to the principles of medicine. Without demanding any awards or special attention to themselves for their conscientious work, many and many of them honestly fulfill the duty of a man in a white coat. As a reward, they remain forever in the memory of those who once passed through their good hands. And this is the highest award of human dignity. My story is about two paramedical workers of the polyclinic of the 9th city hospital in Grozny. The work of the medical staff of polyclinics is fundamentally different from the specifics of work in the inpatient department: a daily changing contingent of patients, new faces, different characters, the requirement of each special attention to oneself ... This results in a double burden for both the doctor and the nurse. And here you need to have iron nerves and kind soul so that everyone who applied for medical care, I was satisfied, and, leaving, I would say “thank you”. Maryam Murzabekova is currently working as a nurse in the infectious diseases room. She is respected in the team, hardworking, responsive, attentive to patients. Anyone will envy her patience and endurance. He treats everyone with the same kindness and kindness. Over the years of working in this clinic, she had to see a lot of things. “But,” says Maryam, “I don’t remember a time when we were supplied with medicines like this. Enough dressings, first aid supplies, resuscitation drugs. After a recent renovation, the material base of the polyclinic has significantly improved: comfortable rooms, good-quality equipment, modern medicines, and equipment. All this makes it possible to establish an accurate diagnosis, prescribe the treatment required for the speedy recovery of the patient. Work has become more interesting and convenient.” And Maryam began her labor activity in this polyclinic as a receptionist back in 1978. Even earlier, in 1973, she, a girl of Ingush nationality, who then lived in the city of Ordzhonikidze (now Vladikavkaz), having seen her only once in Grozny, was “kidnapped” by a young Chechen guy, her current husband. But, already married, in 1980, Maryam went to study at the Grozny Medical School. She graduated and returned to the team of the clinic. I immediately started working as a district nurse. Recalling those years, she says: “The work was very difficult and responsible. My job was to take care of patients at home. Among the patients were the elderly, disabled, war veterans. Dispensary patients had to visit each at least twice a month. I had time for everyone to fulfill the medical appointment on time, to calm and cheer everyone up. I was happy to learn that my patient is on the mend. After several years of work as a district nurse, Maryam, as an executive and conscientious person, was transferred to the office of the VKK, where she had to work next to a wonderful doctor, a sensitive and attentive person, Ali Khubaev. Years of work under his leadership taught her endurance, perseverance, wisdom and humanity. To this day, Maryam remembers him with great gratitude. Working as a paramedical worker, who takes special care of the patient in terms of strict implementation appointments doctor, in attentive care for the patient, Maryam Murzabekova won a good attitude towards herself from both doctors and patients. The team talk about her only with a smile on her face. As a woman, she is very happy in family life. She has a caring husband who still dedicates poetry to her. A loving and kind son, three grandchildren, a polite and attentive daughter-in-law. Many sincere and competent specialists work next to Maryam, often good word which heals much faster than any pills and pills. And one of them is Yesita Akhtkhanova. From childhood she dreamed of becoming medical worker. She liked people in white coats. And more, probably, I liked the profession for its purpose - to help people, to help those in need. At the end of school, there was only one choice - only in medicine. Parents did not interfere with the choice of the girl. And in 1981, she, like Maryam, graduated from the Grozny Medical School, department of obstetrics. She immediately began working in her specialty at the Kurchaloy maternity hospital. Now it’s impossible to count how many newborn babies she held in her hands, how many she cared for in the first days of their life. Then, until 1993, Yesita worked as a midwife in a polyclinic at the Kurchaloevsky district hospital. During the tragic events in the Republic, Esite and her family had to leave the borders, and she ended up in the Tula region. Immediately got a job in one of the medical institutions. It would seem that it is difficult to get used to someone else's team. But here, too, she managed to establish herself as a competent specialist, a knowledgeable obstetrician. When the team learned that the family was going to leave for their homeland, they did not want to let her go. After returning to the republic, in 2004, she went to work in this polyclinic. And for three years now, Yoshita has been working as a senior midwife, taking patients together with a doctor. Although she hasn’t been in the Ecita team for a long time, they already speak of her as a sensitive and attentive worker. Knows how to find an approach to everyone. They say about such people: “Heals more in a word than pills." Each patient wants the procedures to be performed by Yesita. “Of course, our work is difficult, but when you manage to put a person on his feet, cure, you forget about the difficulties, satisfaction and joy come,” says Yoshita. So, year after year, honestly and conscientiously fulfilling the duty of a medical worker, Maryam and Yesita work in the team of the polyclinic of the 9th city hospital. Good luck to you, dear sisters of mercy! Malika ABALAEV

"He who seeks glory on the path of virtue, he only requires a reward according to merit"

/Luc de Clapier Vauvenargues

Professional award, what is it? Many now perceive professional awards as meaningless trinkets, like a piece of metal in the form of a badge or a piece of paper in the form of a diploma.

So what is it really? In fact, this is a tribute to your employee, in fact, it is a tribute and recognition of his merits, in fact, this is a powerful educational moment and an incentive for a person to thoroughly master his profession, achieve high performance in his work.

Vanity is inherent in any normal person, in the good sense of the word. Being the best is a natural desire that any person should experience.

This is very important for him, and for his colleagues, and for his children, and for his wife, and for his parents. This is something that, in addition to other qualities, causes well-deserved respect and honor.

Today I want to talk about our work - the work of a truck driver. Our work, like no other, is replete with situations where a person can show: purposefulness, diligence, courage, courage, honesty, kindness and breadth of soul.

It is possible in this work, with exactly the same success, to show other qualities that are directly opposite to those already listed.

For our brother, probably, each successfully completed flight is the biggest reward, and the harder it was, the higher this reward. It can also be the joyful smiles of your children and wives when you return home.

It can be just a sincere handshake of the head of the enterprise, a colleague and a simple phrase - “Thank you! Well done! Helped us a lot!” But as Nikita Sergeevich Khrushchev said - “It’s nice to receive awards, they decorate good man”, absolutely agree with this.

In this regard, I would like to recall the positive things that were done for this in the time of the USSR.

To begin with, drivers have always been respected for their professionalism, devotion to their profession and the moral and business qualities that they showed in this hard work.

It began with the fact that the leaders on the doors of the cabs of their cars were painted with a corresponding sign, by which it was clear that they were being controlled by an honored worker.

Red stars were painted on the doors of cars, each of which denoted 100,000 kilometers traveled by him without major repairs. By the number of these stars and the technical condition of the car itself, without much difficulty, it was possible to assess the quality of the driver.

In many motor transport units, it was mandatory to wear a uniform. On the sleeves of the jackets there were stripes that indicated which class the driver was: third, second or first.

“First class driver” sounded proud and commanded the respect of colleagues and those people who used the services of such a driver. For all professional and state holidays, solemn meetings were necessarily held, at which the results were summed up - with which the team came to celebrate this or that anniversary and the best were necessarily awarded: orders, medals and other badges of distinction, cash prizes, certificates of honor, valuable gifts, which must be recorded in the appropriate section of the work book.

The best crews and units were awarded pennants and challenge banners of the winners of the competition.

Now, unfortunately, this practice is almost forgotten. Now, unfortunately, in the conditions of a painful, market economy, many leaders of the ATP believe that the driver is quite satisfied with wages as a reward for his hard and often risky work. But why hide it - and not everyone pays it to their drivers on time and in full. In place of the competition came fierce competition, in which prohibited and unsportsmanlike tricks are often used.

There is another unhealthy tendency when the leader forgets about his drivers, while not forgetting to include himself in all award lists and presentations. It is not right! Such leaders, with such an attitude towards subordinates, cause irreparable harm to themselves. After all, many truck drivers, when carrying out transportation, are forced to perform the work and duties that are not included in the circle of their official powers.

And here both respect and the hope that, of course, their work will be noticed by the leadership and encouraged are just working.

The wisdom sounds absolutely right - “Good should always be encouraged, and evil should always be punished.”

Yes, and money is such a thing - Here they are, but they are already gone. A good memory lives for a very long time and often after the death of the person to whom it belonged, it continues to be carefully stored in family archives, as the most expensive relic. Yes, and it’s probably very difficult to imagine such a situation when, when sending a truck driver on a flight, they say to him - “For each extreme situation associated with a risk to life, we will pay you an additional 100 USD.” Even if someone manages to imagine such a situation, it is completely impossible imagine that someone would agree to these conditions, considering it a worthy reward or compensation for the mortal risk and deprivation that lay in wait for him on the way. At the same time, any person, even a not very dedicated one, can easily imagine how many similar situations a driver has experienced, who is awarded for many years of conscientious work and a million difficult kilometers driven by a road train!

In this regard, I would like to note the great and necessary work carried out in this regard by the Association of International Auto Carriers and International Union Auto Transport Workers (IRU - IRU): issuance of certificates of professional conformity, awarding the best, honored representatives of the industry Badges Honor AsMAP, holding competitions of professional skills with the awarding of cups, medals, certificates of honor to the winners.

Dear friends, colleagues, today I would like to present to you the story of our author, Yuri Gutich, about the award for truck drivers, which was established by Atlas, one of the largest American transport companies. At my request, Yuri talked to one of the winners of such an award and sent us a report dedicated to this. I would like others to tell on the pages of our blog about the examples they know of encouraging and rewarding drivers of freight and passenger transport. I would like to bring a little positive into our difficult life at a very difficult stage.

I got up at seven in the morning, turned to an elderly driver, let me, I say, take a picture. He, with understanding for me, took out a brand new ring from the box, let me hold it and take a picture too. There is after all good people on the ground.

Each small diamond means 100 thousand miles without accidents and fines. The ring is awarded for every 500 thousand miles. As it is not difficult to guess, my friend's driver, it was not the first ring.

Maybe the photo is not the best, but there was no time to think, while they gave it was necessary to act. Maybe with time my friends will take a better photo. But so far no one has caught the eye. And for your ring you have to wait another five years, if I don’t leave earlier. In the photo is the truck of that elderly driver. Works for the Subaru auto concern. Is new model cars for 2012. Even the trailer was specially painted for the auto tour.

Have an easy road, DRIVER ...

"Benefit, Honor and Glory"

Established by Catherine II, the Order of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir was one of the most prestigious awards of the Russian Empire.

At the height of the Catherine's century in Russia, there was an acute shortage of orders. Behind - the first victorious Russian-Turkish war. The empire is advancing towards the Black Sea on a broad front.

So many high-profile military exploits, so many great generals and statesmen- and awards to spare. And wise Felitsa she created new orders for her eagles, which aroused the noble ambition of heroes and the low passions of court intriguers. Awarded, of course, not only orders. Rings, caskets, medallions were used. Sometimes - snuffboxes with gold coins. Often - villages with peasants, as has been customary since ancient times. most honorary award was considered a title indicating the geography of the military or political victories of the hero: Potemkin-Tavrichesky, Rumyantsev-Zadunaisky, Suvorov-Rymniksky.But the age of Enlightenment demanded lofty rewards, not directly related to selfish interests, because duty and honor are more important than money and arable land.

Anniversary gift

Why did the empress decide to dedicate new order prince who baptized Rus'? This undertaking dates from the summer of 1782. The establishment of the order was announced on September 22, on the day of the 20th anniversary of the accession Ekaterina Alekseevna to the throne. former princessSophia-August-Frederikafon of Anhalt-Zerbst who, marrying the heir to the Russian throne Petr Fedorovich, and could not think about the role of a sovereign autocratic ruler, turned out to be a tenacious politician.

On the day the award was established, the empress put on her signs of the 1st degree, it is with them that she is depicted on the famous canvas by Dmitry Levitsky “Portrait of Catherine II in the form of a legislator in the temple of the goddess of justice”. Yes, it was not only a state holiday, but also her personal holiday. So, the appearance of the order in the name of the baptist of Rus', the holy Equal-to-the-Apostles prince Vladimir Svyatoslavich connected only with the 20th anniversary of the Catherine's reign?

It seems that the symbolic meaning of the award is not limited to the anniversary. The Empress was interested in ancient history and knew that in 1788 it would be 800 years since the day of Baptism by Prince Vladimir of Russia. This date was actualized by the long-term rivalry with the Ottoman Empire for the Crimea and the Black Sea region, and in the future - for Constantinople. And the first high-profile awards of the new order showed that Russia does not forget about the "Greek project", strives for the liberation of Christian peoples from Turkish rule. Crimea and Kuban acted as a springboard in this age-old confrontation.

Vladimir Hall in the Grand Kremlin Palace - the embodiment of Byzantine scope

The motto of the order was the words: "Benefit, honor and glory." The peculiarity of his statute was obvious: Vladimiradavalina was awarded only for military exploits and military service, but also for “civilian” successes. True, for military cavaliers of the order of the IV degree, additional difference- a bow from a sash. And since 1855, crossed swords appeared on the signs of orders awarded for military merit.

Catherine II not for the first time established a new order. Egoriy was loved in the army from the first awards, since 1769. And the artists did not go far from the canon. The Order of Vladimir was in many ways similar to the Order of St. George and consisted of a sign worn on a ribbon thrown over the right shoulder, in the form of a straight line, with expanding rays of a cross and a star, which was placed on the left side of the chest. Only the stars of the orders differed greatly: for St. Vladimir it was eight-pointed, and for George- about four ends. The colors of the St. George ribbon are known to everyone: three black and two yellow (orange) stripes; Vladimir had two black and one red stripe.

"As a reward for deeds and as a reward for labors"

The statute of the order of 1892 explains everything in detail and sensibly: “The Imperial Order of St. Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir established as a reward for feats performed in the field public service, and in the recompense of labors, for the benefit of the public raised.

The Order of St. Vladimir is divided into four degrees, of which the first two are called the degrees of the Grand Cross.

Its signs are:

FIRST DEGREE. A large gold cross covered on both sides with red enamel; along the edges of the cross there are black enamel and gold borders; in the middle of the front side, on an ermine field, surrounded by a gold border, the monogram name of St. Vladimir, under the Grand Duke's crown, and on the back side: the day, month and year of the establishment of the order, i.e. September 22, 1782; worn over the right shoulder on a ribbon two and a quarter inches wide, about three stripes, of which the outermost ones are black and the middle one is red. The star worn on the left side of the chest is octagonal; its corners are alternately silver and gold; in the middle, in a black round field, a small golden cross, signifying the enlightenment of Russia with Holy Baptism and the Gospel; near the cross of the letter: S. R. K. V., i.e. Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir; and around, in a red border, the motto of the order: BENEFITS, HONOR AND GLORY.

SECOND DEGREE. Cross and star, similar to those established for the first degree. The cross is worn around the neck on a ribbon one and a quarter inches wide, and a star on the left side of the chest.

THIRD DEGREE. A cross of a smaller size than the second degree, however, the same size as the crosses of the orders of St. Anna and St. Stanislaus of the second degree. The cross is worn around the neck on a ribbon one inch wide.

FOURTH DEGREE. The cross is the same, but smaller; worn in a buttonhole on a ribbon half an inch wide. On the cross, complained for thirty-five years of service, on the transverse ends on both sides there is a silver inscription: 35 years.

To the signs of the Order of St. Vladimir, when he complains about the military, against the enemy, exploits, two swords lying crosswise join: in the middle of the cross and the star.

On the star and crosses of all degrees, granted to non-Christians, the images of the cross, the letters S. R. K. V., the monogram name of St. Vladimir and the time of the establishment of the order are replaced by the image of the Imperial Russian Eagle.

Cavaliers are not allowed to decorate order signs with stones, as well as to wear the image of a cross in gold plaques, and in general to wear it otherwise than as established in the Statute.

The Order of St. Vladimir is never removed.

Pensions are determined for holders of the Order of St. Vladimir and those assigned to it: 10 holders of the first degree, 600 rubles each; 20 cavaliers of the second degree, 300 rubles each; 30 cavaliers of the third degree, 150 rubles each; 60 cavaliers of the fourth degree for 100 rubles.

We acknowledge that not all of these provisions were strictly enforced. So, not all gentlemen wore the order daily. Nevertheless, this document determined the fate of the Vladimir award for a long time. We note that the pensions paid for the order received have become an important help in life for many old soldiers. And his cavaliers were also allowed to “decorate seals and other things with order signs according to general decrees on orders.”

For serving a festive table on the Order of St. Vladimir's Day, Catherine ordered at a porcelain factory Gardner a huge, unprecedented palace service - either for 100, or as much as 140 couverts, which cost a colossal sum for those times - 15 thousand rubles. The Vladimir service was more luxurious than its St. George counterpart. All of its items: plates of various sizes, vases, biscuits and even handles of knives, forks and spoons, were painted based on order signs.

The first after the Empress herself, the Cavaliers of the Order of St. Vladimir were Catherine's eagles - the most powerful nobles, statesmen, favorites. Field Marshals General Petr Rumyantsev-Zadunaisky And Alexander Golitsyn; master of diplomacy Nikita Panin; new star foreign policy combinations Alexander Bezborodko; an outstanding philanthropist Ivan Shuvalov; Ivan Betskoy who was in charge of educational affairs; Pskov and Smolensk Governor-General Nikolai Repnin; Moscow commander-in-chief Zakhar Chernyshev, as well as his brother, vice-president of the Admiralty College Ivan Chernyshev. Well, without the two all-powerful Grigorievs - Potemkin and Orlov - the award list, of course, would look short. All these are the big names of the brilliant time, bright personalities - the generation of winners.

You will say: spirits of storms and thunder,
stunning world,
Everyone at the appointed hour is here at home
Gathering for a feast.

And, entering the house of the queen,
Some kind of magic here
Suddenly graceful string
Cavaliers appear,

You bow before her,
And she's just alive
The image, so to speak, of Russia,
And visible above the whole crowd.

So he wrote about this galaxy Apollo Maykov.

Baptism of fire

For the accession of the blessed Kuban and "various Kuban peoples to the All-Russian Empire", Alexander Vasilyevich Suvorov received the Order of St. Vladimir, 1st degree. The Empress signed a decree on his award on July 28, 1783. The peaceful and military labors of the commander in the south of the empire can indeed be briefly described in three words of the order's motto: benefit, honor and glory.

The news of the awarding of Suvorov came at the height of hostilities against the Nogais. In the middle of the summer of 1783, serious unrest broke out among the hordes, not for the first time. The horsemen of the Dzhanbulak horde attacked Russian posts: the company of the Butyrsky infantry regiment, which was stationed on Malaya Her, the command of a lieutenant colonel Ivan Leshkevich... Turkish puppeteers were guessed behind the backs of the rebels. leader of the movement Mambet Murzabekov was arrested, he was imprisoned in the Azov fortress. But Grigory Potemkin he had a presentiment that the nomadic Nogai Tatars beyond the Kuban were still in danger, and ordered Suvorov to conduct a military expedition in those parts.

Portrait of Catherine II in the form of a legislator in the temple of the goddess of justice. Hood. D.G. Levitsky. Early 1780s. Here the Empress is depicted with the insignia of the Order of St. Vladimir

The campaign began from the mouth of the Laba. With Suvorov 15 infantry companies and dragoon squadrons with 16 field guns came out. The commander also attracted the Don Cossack regiments led by Alexei Ilovaisky. They crossed the river without building a pontoon bridge, the guns were pulled with cables. On October 1, in Kermenchik, on the opposite bank of the Laba, Russian troops defeated the Nogai camp. On the same day, moving further, Suvorov defeated the Nogais at the Sarychigir tract. He released the prisoners, and allowed the Nogais who left the nomad camp to be recorded as Cossacks. The steppe union, dangerous for Russia, broke up. Suvorov wrote: “They were us beyond the Kuban and on the Laba River at dawn near Kermenchik so supertrained that they lost a lot of people and all their murzas, and on the same number of other times they and other generations were equally defeated; one day finished the whole thing ". The Trans-Kuban operation ended with a brilliant and quick victory. The Turks, having lost their support here, on December 28, 1783, in a special agreement with Russia, recognized the line of the Kuban River as the border between empires. However, Russia was already looking further into the Caucasus, seeking to liberate the Christian peoples of Transcaucasia from Turkish rule. Kuban bridgehead against Ottoman Empire was securely fortified. And Alexander Vasilyevich Suvorov personally awarded the officers who especially distinguished themselves then with the Vladimir Crosses of the IV degree. It was the baptism of fire of the order.

In the memory of contemporaries for a long time there was a “double” award, which happened at the beginning of a new Russian-Turkish war in the summer of 1788. Not far from the mouth of the Danube, near the island of Fidonisi, in the battle on July 3, the captain in the rank of brigadier Fedor Fedorovich Ushakov disabled the Turkish flagship with skillful and courageous actions. It was the first naval victory in that war. But due to the intrigues of his commander, the commander of the Sevastopol squadron, Count Marko Voinovich, Ushakov was awarded sparingly - only by Vladimir III degree. Grigory Potemkin understood that Ushakov's avant-garde decided the fate of the battle - especially valuable, because Turkey dominated the Black Sea in that campaign. Prince Tauride looked with disgust at the intrigues of Voinovich: he insisted that Ushakov should also be granted George IV degree.

“He was given with a bow, around my neck ...”

Since 1845, holders of the order Saint Vladimir of any degree received the right of hereditary nobility. In 1900, this privilege was taken away from those who were awarded Vladimir IV degree (only the right of personal nobility was retained). The reason is simple: at that time, the order was often awarded to merchants - for charity, and the aristocrats believed that it was necessary to somehow limit the merchant influx into the ranks of the nobility ...

The Order of St. Vladimir is often mentioned on literary pages, and is also found on paintings. Remember Skalozub's remark in Griboyedov's "Woe from Wit"?

For the third of August, we sat down in a trench:
He was given with a bow, around my neck.

It's about brother Skalozuba received Vladimir IV degrees - with a bow. And the colonel himself - III degree, he was worn around the neck. By the way, the future admiral became the first knight of Vladimir with a bow, and in those years when he was awarded this award, the young Lieutenant Commander Dmitry Senyavin.

Even before the "Inspector" Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol conceived the comedy "Vladimir of the Third Degree", from which, alas, only excerpts have been preserved. Her hero, dreaming of a title order, himself became ... an order. Having ended up in a lunatic asylum, when asked about his name and rank, he answers: "Vladimir of the third degree." And Judge Lyapkin-Tyapkin, already in the Inspector, informs Khlestakov: “For three three years, he has been introduced to Vladimir of the fourth degree with the approval of his superiors.” We see signs of Vladimir of the II degree at the elderly groom in the famous painting by Vasily Pukirev "Unequal Marriage".

Last Russian emperor at baptism he received the highest degrees of almost all domestic orders, but George and Vladimir were not among these awards. They could be awarded only for special distinction or after 25 years of service. St. Andrew's signs on a blue ribbon shone with diamonds on his chest. But a small, modest Vladimir cross, which Nicholas II was very proud, appeared with him only in 1890: he was awarded it for real diplomatic merits.

The history of the order was interrupted after October. According to some reports, over 135 years of St. Vladimir I degree, 721 people received; about 5 thousand people were awarded Vladimir II degree, more than 50 thousand - III degree and over 150 thousand - IV. 75 heroes became cavalier of the amiorden of St. Vladimir of all degrees.

Order hall

In the Kremlin halls there is one relatively small hall, which we are used to seeing on television and on the pages of newspapers in reports on official state ceremonies. Since the 1970s, the Vremya program often began with stories about meetings in these luxurious chambers. The hall is like a solemn cantata. On its vaults there are order stars and crosses.

Sometimes it seems that the Grand Kremlin Palace has existed forever, at least since the time of the Moscow kingdom. It is an organic part of our statehood. But it's not that old. This is the creation of the architect Konstantin Ton (1794-1881), who revived the Byzantine scale in Belokamennaya during the reign of Nikolai Pavlovich. The emperor wanted a palace to appear in the Mother See, in which there would be "everything that in the memory of the people is closely connected with the representation of the abode of the Sovereign." Tone began work in 1837, and construction was completed in 1849.

Russia then rediscovered our majestic antiquity. The image of the prince-baptist was romanticized, many were fond of epics and chronicles. It is not surprising that one of the halls became Vladimir. And with its architectural solution, Konstantin Ton wanted to recall the harmony of the Hagia Sophia. He worked on a grand scale and enjoyed the unlimited confidence of the emperor, and therefore made many enemies. Ton's reputation in the history of Russian architecture is not the most brilliant. But let's take a closer look: the huge palace fit into the architecture of the Kremlin, rich in ancient masterpieces. Yes, he pressed the grand ducal and royal chambers, but a long time ago it was impossible to imagine Moscow without this "Byzantine" palace.

To design the five halls, Ton used the images of the main orders of the empire: this idea unites their exquisite interiors. Georgievsky, Andreevsky, Ekaterininsky, Aleksandrovsky and, finally, Vladimirsky. In 1933–1934, Andreevsky and Alexander Halls were demolished and, according to the project of the architect Illarion Ivanov-Shitz rebuilt into one huge meeting room. There were congresses, sessions of the Supreme Council. And in Vladimirskoe the front side of big politics reigned.

The Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir was a great past for them.

The Vladimir Hall is perhaps the brightest in the Kremlin. It was built on the site of the ancient Bed Porch - and the result was an internal covered courtyard with a large skylight at the top of the dome. From there - just like in peasant huts - an even sunlight. The walls and pilasters of the hall are lined with soft pink marble. By the way, from the Vladimir Hall you can get not only to the Faceted Chamber, but also to the Terem Palace - a patterned creation of Russian masters of the 17th century. This is how a huge palace complex turned out to be half the size of the Kremlin - united by galleries-corridors and underground passages.

When in 1961 the architect Mikhail Posokhin built an ultra-modern Palace of Congresses in the Kremlin, which also entered the system of chambers, which began to take shape already in the days Ivan III. As a result, everything is merged together in the Kremlin: different eras, stylistic motifs, fragments of conflicting ideologies. And everything gets along. And the stars of the Order of St. Vladimir are watching how the current heroes of Russia are honored, how overseas guests are greeted ...
