You can, of course, take a dictionary and go through the list, memorizing the translation. But these old-fashioned methods do not work for me, and when was cramming effective? Not to mention the time it takes. Other methods are needed here.
Previously, the LiguaLeo website helped me learn words, this is a rather interesting and versatile resource. He has interesting exercises for memorizing new words, but unfortunately you have to pay for everything, so not all workouts are available. Although many of the available ones are quite effective. Therefore, I use LiguaLeo for other purposes.

- Workouts are interesting and effective
Well, here are the first disadvantages :
- In the free version, as it turned out later, only 5 lessons from the first topic are available. It doesn't suit me that I have these 5 lessons, so I decided to purchase the paid version.
The full version was allegedly discounted for 399 rubles, but I'm sure it costs that much. For 699, I definitely wouldn’t buy, I’d rather pay the same amount in LiguaLeo then. For this money, not only paid trainings, but also entire courses would be available to me.
But for 399 rubles, I still decided to purchase the application and did not regret it.
- Many synonymous words are difficult to train, because the words and the translation to it are tied to each other. . It is difficult to choose the correct meaning; in an application, a word that has several correct translations may not be correct. I don’t know if I explained clearly, this can be clearly understood by considering the principles on which the training is built.
▢ ▣ ◘ WORKOUT ◙ ▢ ▣
- The lesson starts with cards. All cards are visualized with interesting pictures characteristic of certain words. First, it is possible to view the cards in the lesson, and then proceed to the training.
Looking through the cards, the pronunciation of the word automatically goes on, I have a female voice. Below are examples of how the word is used. By clicking on the exclamation mark in the upper right, you can see other meanings of the word, and you can also add a word to separate study in "Selected words" or remove the word from the study (did not use this service).
Selected words can then be practiced separately from the lessons, just like learned words.
- After reviewing the cards, you can try Guess the words with practice cards.
First, they present a card with a Russian / English translation, and you must learn this word and translate it for yourself. After clicking in any part of the screen, the translation automatically appears and the announcer pronounces the English word.
- After the cards, there are already training sessions, for which you can already get points. First training "Find the word"
I thought that the workouts go by difficulty, but this one seems to me the most difficult of all, so I return to it when I know at least a little of the words, after studying them in other workouts. Here is not only a test for knowledge of words, but also a test of attentiveness. After all, even knowing the word, it is not always easy to find it.
- The second training is called "Gather a couple". Although it is the second after "Find the word", but I always start with it, because the first one is too difficult for unfamiliar words.
Here the principle is this: you just need to click 2 cards blue with the English word and yellow with its translation. The sequence is not strict, you can start with a yellow card, but the main thing is that the next card should be the exact translation of the selected word.
I love this workout, it's effective when you know half of the words. As a result, at the end there always remain those that you don’t know, and here you have to connect logic and imagination, and luck sometimes saves you choosing the right translation. But definitely after this training, those words that were the last are remembered better)
- Next training "Collect the word"
Here a set of letters is given in a chaotic order and you need to assemble a word from them. The example is unfortunately unfortunate, because here is a "static" verb (which describes a state and consists of the verb be + adjective). However, the meaning is clear.
This application helps to remember the spelling of words well, which is also important. When absolutely ALL the words in the lesson are not familiar to me, I start with this training.
- T training "Choose a translation" .
This is one of my favorite workouts. I think everything is clear and understandable, no need to explain. By the way, words sometimes alternate, it can be given and Russian word, which needs to select a translation among the English options.
- Practice Collect the "Audio Word".
This workout just shows how well you hear English speech. The announcer says a word (in English, of course), and you must collect it from the letters presented. Of course, this is a simple option, I would complicate this exercise - you need to write a word from scratch (without famous letters) this practice can be done in LiguaLeo, where you need to write down the word you heard yourself using the keyboard.
- Training "Choose audio translation" .
Here the training is based on the principle of listening. How well can you understand English speech. An English word sounds, from the options presented, the user must select a translation for it.
- Workout "True-False"
Here everything is as simple as shelling pears, not always correct combinations are set, and the user must understand whether the translation for this card is correct. Two buttons are available, nothing complicated.
- Final training "Memoria".
This is already a relatively difficult game, it is the last one. It is built on the principle of a game where you need to remember the position of identical pictures and then find them in pairs. Here, too, we are only looking for related words, in other words, the word and its translation. In training, 2 stages of 5 words, at first 3-5 seconds are given for memorization.

After a minimum of 285 points is collected for each training session, the lesson is considered learned. But it is not so easy to collect them, any mistake, no matter what training, takes away points and the lesson is considered not finished, you need to train the words again.
The program tracks progress, showing how many lessons have been completed and how many words have already been learned. The number of lessons that the application shows is not always fully completed, sometimes just started. But the words always shows true.
In principle, there is nothing difficult in learning English words. The student is shown a language pair, which consists of an English word and its translation, and he tries to remember it. Everything is very simple ... and very boring, alas. It is so boring that from such training eyes close very quickly and all desire disappears.
The creators of Words are well aware of the uselessness of stupid cramming, so they tried to make the process of memorizing English words as varied and interesting as possible. Let's look at it in more detail.
