/ April 8, 2018 / /

In early April, a number of media solemnly announced that this year the procedure for issuing a gold medal to graduates is being tightened. However, all these statements are based on some behind-the-scenes conversations that are not supported by documents.

Let's re-analyze the current legislation in this regard. To do this, we will use the official data providers:

So, Moscow schoolchildren can apply for two types of medals.

Medal "For special achievements in teaching" (federal level)

To receive a medal, it is necessary that all marks in the certificate be “excellent”, as well as successfully pass the required USE exams, i.e. dial minimum scores in two compulsory subjects.

The medal is awarded to persons who have completed the development of educational programs of secondary general education (hereinafter referred to as graduates), who have successfully passed the state final certification and have final grades of “excellent” in all academic subjects studied in accordance with the curriculum, organizations engaged in educational activities in which they passed the state final certification.

Medal "For Special Achievements in Education" (Moscow medal)

Issued on the basis of the Decree of the Government of Moscow dated February 25, 2014 N 74-PP
This medal can be issued both together with the federal medal, and in its absence. At the same time, it is absolutely not necessary to have all the “excellent” marks in the certificate.

What is the medal for? The medal is given upon the occurrence of one of three events:

  • The graduate is the winner or prize-winner All-Russian Olympiad schoolchildren
  • The graduate scored the highest number of single points state exam one or more general education subject
  • The graduate has the final marks “excellent” in all subjects of the curriculum in educational programs secondary general education and scored at least 220 points in three general education subjects when passing the unified state exam

Let me remind you that earlier a number of media outlets stated that in order to receive a medal in 2018, in addition to the "five" in the certificate, it will be necessary to score at least 70 points in the Unified State Examination in mathematics and the Russian language, but there is no documentary evidence of this.
