You can find out more about the conditions of the competition, nominations, the history of previous seasons, as well as news of the current season on the official website of the competition.

This year, the well-known publishing house of children's literature is holding the 5th competition. The third and final stage is currently underway. Of the 3,877 initial submissions, only 48 were shortlisted: 10 in literary categories and 8 in animation.
It should be noted that this year the organizers of the competition became generous and announced as many as 4 literary nominations:
- Children's fairy tales and stories (for children under 8 years old);
- Education of feelings (for teenagers);
- Stories about animals;
- Non-fiction (developing and popular science literature).

Almost all nominations (except stories about animals) will be available for reading until August 15th. At the same time, a reader's vote is also held. Although the main prizes will, of course, be distributed by the jury.

I took the time and read all the fiction, got interested in non-fiction, and stuck my nose into animation.
I did not find a new Astrid Lindgren or, at worst, Charskaya there. Don't misunderstand me, there's a fair amount of talented work on display, interesting stories, and a well-crafted style. I just doubt that these works will be able to captivate children and adolescents.
All the time I read fairy tales, short stories and stories, I could not get rid of the thought that with the same success and only slight changes in the surroundings, but without any exceptions from the plot, without a different depiction of characters, all these fairy tales, stories and stories could have been written twenty, and fifty, and seventy years ago.
It is explainable. Each new generation faces the same difficulties in the process of growing up and overcomes them with approximately the same success or failure. It can be said that nothing new is happening. For us adults looking at it all from the outside. But not for teenagers and children! And I would like at least one work to be written the way a teenager experiences events: new, fresh, bright, passionate. As if it happened for the first time and will never happen again.
Yes, I was looking for the new The Suffering of Young Werther, the new Tale of First Love, the new When Will It Snow? I wanted to read a fairy tale, from which neither an adult nor a child could tear himself away.
But that did not happen.

As for popular science works, in my opinion, most of them are a poorly disguised textbook and can only repel the reader from this kind of literature. O ever-living master of scattered sciences! It won't be long before someone comes to replace you.

I will not judge the animation nomination. It was depressing only that almost none of the authors bothered to present the stories in script format. And without this, it is absolutely impossible to imagine a more or less definite visual range.

I would not want to be in the place of the jury. The publisher, first of all, should think about the commercial side of the issue. And this means taking into account the views of parents on what children's literature should be. These views are, for the most part, inert and biased. But after all, the success of an enterprise, in the end, is determined by whether a new name is discovered, an author whose books will be so interesting to children that after reading the first one, they will demand more and buy the second, third, etc.

I'll wait with interest to see who wins this time. Although, of course, I would like the children to win.

Reviews

Alas, I sent my MAGIC Christmas tree to a couple of publishing houses ... but the upbringing of Russian feelings in Russia, where all publishing houses are controlled by the ancient merchant-thieves mafia of the separatists, are absolutely not needed ...

All the states around are vehemently national, and only Russians are being forced into Eurasianism-internationalism-cosmopolitanism-tolerance...maybe that's why only we don't have a Russian republic with borders to the constitution of the capital?
