What does academic debt mean in school. What is academic debt

relatively new term in Russian education. More precisely, it was used this concept and earlier, but officially academic debt is the phenomenon began to be called not so long ago. Let's figure out what it is and what are its consequences.

What is academic debt?

The federal law “On education in Russian Federation gave the official definition of this concept. According to the law, academic debt is the absence of satisfactory results in intermediate certifications conducted after studying the next subject, course or module, if there are no good reasons for such a result.

Don't know your rights?

Simply put, academic debt is what colloquially students and teachers call the word "tail".

What are the consequences of debt?

In law academic debt is something that the student (or other student) must eliminate as quickly as possible. The law establishes that a student or schoolchild is given 2 attempts to eliminate debt. The deadlines during which you can retake, sets educational organization. At the same time, according to the law, not passed the first time academic debt is also a reason to create a commission that will conduct a second certification. As a matter of fact, this rule was in force before, but now it is backed up by the authority of a normative act.

In the event that the exams, tests or other forms of certification held 2 more times did not lead to passing, there are 2 scenarios for the development of events:

  1. For students receiving general education, academic debt is not a barrier to continuing education. At the choice of the parents, they can be sent for re-education (left for the second year), transferred to an adapted course of study or individual training. What to do with schoolchildren who have debts is decided by a comprehensive commission with the participation of teachers, doctors and psychologists.
  2. But for students and students of vocational schools and other institutions where there is no longer a general, but professional education, everything is much more serious. For them twice unliquidated academic debt is clear reason for dismissal.

** We remind you that before receiving a retake sheet, the student must make payment. Therefore, please pay attention to the retake time in order to arrive on time for the exam.

You can find the cost of liquidating debts in the heading “For a student” (“ useful links"-" Cost of paid services")

It has been noticed that a student who appears at lectures and seminars less often than in nightclubs has a dangerous mutation - a “tail” grows. And usually not even one. The multi-tailed monster, which until recently was a cheerful studiozus, nervously rushes from pulpit to pulpit. And in the dean’s office, “many-tailed hunters” are already preparing an order for expulsion ...

The student "tail", or academic debt, is a control event (test, exam, test or term paper) that has been scribbled or passed to "unsatisfactory / not credited". The appearance of the “tail” threatens not only with the loss of the scholarship, but also with the mutant kicking out of the habitat of normal students. If the tailed mutant is male, then it is very likely that he will enter the ranks of our valiant army.

Fortunately, tailing is curable. But only if urgent medical measures are taken in the early stages of the disease.

The treatment process is the elimination of academic debt. Or, more simply, surrender of "tails". Everyone remembers the anecdote about students from Africa who were recommended by the dean's office to take "tails" on the second floor, right?

Well, let's take a closer look - how academic debt arises, how to take it and what to do if self-medication does not help.

Prevention of "tails"

As practice shows, most first-year students could avoid the appearance of "tails" if ... If they just carefully studied the rules for passing the session. Exactly at . Many fly out for the stupidest reasons:

  • “But I didn’t know that because of the failed test they would not be allowed to take the exam!”
  • “And what if you don’t come to the exam, will they fail? Gosha!"
  • “And why, because of an unwritten essay, they didn’t allow me to pass the examination ... Plak-plak-plak!”

And the crown: “Damn, when does the scoring week begin ?! What's gone already?!"

Here are 5 simple rules, the knowledge of which significantly reduces the risk of academic debt:

№1. Find out the timing of the session. Pay attention not only to the dates of the tests, but also to the duration of the test week. If you skip it and show up immediately for the first exam, an unpleasant surprise awaits you. According to the rules, Only students who have passed all the tests are allowed to take the exams. Write it down right on your forehead!

№2. Read the conditions for admission to offsets. Many teachers do not allow students who have not written an abstract, report, essay or other work, the implementation of which is included in the curriculum. Non-admission may arise due to failure to pass the control, practical, laboratory. Imagine the state of a student who comes to retake the test, and only there he finds out that he had to write an essay! You don't want to be in his place, do you?

№3. Read the conditions for admission to the exams. In addition to the mandatory submission of all reports, the condition of admission may be the delivery of various academic work and colloquia. Some teachers vigilantly monitor student visits and force them to "work off" missed seminars, show notes of missed lectures. In general, MSU introduced a point system for monitoring progress during the semester and set checkpoints for testing knowledge. Missed points? Catch the tail. Beasts! But they are within their rights.

№4. Find out how many exams not passed during the main session (namely, during the main session, without taking into account the additional deadline for filing debts!) Are deducted from your educational institution. Usually two, maximum three exams are the critical threshold - they are allowed to pass in an additional session. Yes, somewhere they even allow all exams to be retaken (for example, four). But cool universities have tough rules. A student can easily fly out for two exams if he did not meet the main session.

№5. If you have already acquired "tails", be sure to find out the deadlines for the delivery of debts. It is best if you download on the website of the university or ask directly at the dean's office for the "Regulations on the elimination of academic debt". If you're given another chance, don't at least spit it out.

Is it possible to clean up the "tails" before the end of the session?

If you have not passed a test or an exam, but you still have time to retake it during the exam session, this is, strictly speaking, not a real “tail”. And so, "tail". During the session, one additional day is allocated for retaking each exam.

Interestingly, retaking exams during the main session is far from horror-horror, but a chance to get good mark. The teachers are more or less loyal to the first retake. Some even allow students who get "good" to retake "excellent". Much more often, however, at the retake, they reduce the grade by a point, but getting “good” instead of “satisfactory” in the test is also not bad. Even the possibility of obtaining a red diploma is not ruled out (it is issued in the absence of triples and in the presence of 75% of fives). So not only losers, but also excellent students go to retake during the exam session.

With offsets and easier and more difficult. Some students manage to come to the teacher's credit 10-15 times during the session!

As a rule, you can retake the test at least once during the test week. This allows even those who could not get the coveted signature of the teacher the first time, to be in time with the closing of all tests by the beginning of the exams.

If you did not succeed, throw all your strength into passing the tests. Until you deal with them, you will not be allowed to take the exams. Therefore, at the time when your fellow students are answering exams, chase teachers who need to retake the test.

Some students consider credits less important than exams. First, they are usually easier to pass. Secondly, there is no evaluation. So the impression arises that, compared with the exam, this is a “trifle”. But this little thing can ruin your life! In an additional session, many universities no longer accept credits.

It is extremely important to deal with the offsets at least until the moment of retakes. In most universities, a student who fails three exams during the main session is expelled. And in some universities even two subjects are enough. Therefore, you need to have time, at least on retakes, to pass the minimum of disciplines that will allow you to finish the rest of the “tails” within the framework of an additional session.

It may be a little comforting to know that the first retakes of exams are usually scheduled for the most last days main session. That's why some students manage to fuck up the teacher with fifteen retakes of the test!

So, to the question of whether it is possible to deal with debts before the end of the main session, we confidently answer: it is not only possible, but also necessary. Do not delay with retakes before the onset of an additional session.

What is an extra session?

After each semester, a period is set during which the "tailers" finish everything that they did not have time to pass during the main session. This time is called an extra session. Its terms are established in accordance with the order on the liquidation of academic debt.

It's not worth letting an extra session with a session extension. The extension is for a good reason. In this case, a conditional transfer is made with academic debt (of course, it should be liquidated as soon as possible, but the immediate threat of expulsion has not yet appeared). And an additional session is for those who, even from the first retake, did not figure out the exams. And these guys are very, very serious.

A student coming for a second retake is examined not by one teacher, but by an attestation commission. For most students, this is the last chance. Thus, the traditional retake scheme looks like this:

1) surrender;
2) retake;
3) commission.

The third retake, that is, the fourth attempt, is an exceptional case, which is very difficult to achieve. Usually, permission must be sought from the rector himself.

If you do not meet the schedule for eliminating academic debt, you will be expelled. At least in major universities. But in some places, students with academic debts somehow move from course to course. Such concessions are often given to contractors in provincial universities. Well, it’s a pity to send a person to the army for whom parents regularly pay ...

Stop. Don't relax! These dummies walk under the sword of Damocles. As soon as the university begins to tighten the screws (and this happens when the threat of losing a license looms over the university), chronic "tailers" fly out without warning.

What to do with invalids?

Inadmissibility is one of the main reasons for the appearance of "tails". For this reason, academic debt occurs even among very intelligent students. On the way to an exam or a test, especially malicious teachers build whole barricades of abstracts, reports, colloquia, abstracts, essays and other crap.

And now you are all so smart, perfectly versed in the subject (and therefore ignoring lectures and seminars throughout the semester), appear for a test or an exam ... And the teacher blurs into a malicious grin.

Above we gave five tips for the prevention of tailing, and now keep a couple more:

№6. If you suddenly and suddenly, having emerged from the abyss of important matters, noticed the approach of the test week and the examination session, immediately find out if you need to write and pass something in order to get admission to tests and exams. The sooner you learn all this, the more chances that you will have time to write this mountain of essays, control and laboratory before the start of the test week. Well, at least half of the mountain.

№7. Do you feel like you can't handle it? Get a student lancer to help you. The cooperation strategy can be different:

  • Someone instructs the studentlancers to write the most difficult tests and essays, which is quite logical.
  • Someone dumps all sorts of replies, uninteresting tasks on the studentlancers. And this also has its own logic. If you are really interested in learning, difficult assignments are a challenge. But any nonsense invented by teachers in order to ruin your life is just a waste of time. But the surrender of academic debt is impossible until you clear up this bureaucracy. So it makes sense to delegate unimportant tasks to student lancers.
  • Finally, there is such a strategy: we write everything that we have time for ourselves, and at Studlance we order the most urgent work. For example, an essay that you need to bring to the test by nine in the morning ... and which you remembered at three in the morning.

How practice and coursework turn into "tails"

Term papers and practice reports that are not submitted on time automatically become “tails”. By the way, coursework usually you need not only to surrender, but also to protect. If you bring it too late, the teacher may not allow you to defend: they say, I don’t have time to read! Or, as an option: “Well, my dear, you have a small flaw here. Correct - and for protection ... But not together with everyone, but as part of an additional session.

In order not to fly out of the university, it is necessary to invest with repeated protection in the terms of eliminating academic debt. But, as you already understood, academic debt at a university is a solvable problem. Even if you can’t cope with the “tail” in the form of a term paper or practice report yourself, you can always find an assistant among the student lancers. It is cheaper than becoming a sponsor of the department, and most importantly, it is much safer.

Do they offer academic debt scholarships?

Please note that the elimination of academic debt at the university does not guarantee a scholarship. It depends on how quickly you cleaned up the “tails”: did you meet the main session or did not meet.

Most universities have a rule: if you pass all the subjects during the main session, they will give you a scholarship. And if you don’t meet it, you will suck your paw like a bear in a den. The delivery of "tails" in an additional session and the repeated defense of the coursework is a guaranteed absence of a scholarship. After weighing all the pros and cons, many students order term papers and practice reports from student lancers. Economically more profitable!

For example, a coursework costs 1,500 - 3,000 rubles, and a scholarship for half a year is.

That's why some good students who are a little addicted to some subject sometimes turn to student lancers for help. If some essay or test stands in the way of the timely delivery of the session, it is more profitable to pay the student - and then honestly ... well, almost honestly receive a scholarship. And what do you think about this?

This week I was expelled from the 1st year of the university (specialist 5 years) for academic debt. I will be 19 in June. In September 2012, I was granted a deferment from military service. Can I enter the same university for a specialty this year, or another for a bachelor's degree (4 years) and will I be granted a second deferment from the army?

Lawyer's answer to the question: academic debt
Hello!

If you have exercised your right to a deferment, there will be no deferment in the event of a second admission.

The right to deferment from conscription military service retained by the citizen:

reinstated in the same educational institution (with the exception of citizens who were reinstated in educational institutions after being expelled for violating their charters, internal regulations, or for other disrespectful reasons), if the period for which the citizen was granted a deferment from military service for training in this educational institution, does not increase;

Whether the reason for expulsion is disrespectful or not follows from the charter of the university.
