dead and alive

The dead -
Be permanently on duty
They live in the names of streets and in epics.
Their exploits holy beauty
Will display the artists in the paintings.
Alive -
Heroes to honor, not to forget,
Keep their names in immortal lists,
To remind everyone of their courage
And lay flowers at the foot of the obelisks!

May 4, 2016 at 11.00 in the Library-Children's Reading Center, the action "We read to children about the war" took place. The children of schools No. 23 and No. 19 had a unique opportunity to hear a significant work about the wartime from the lips of the cabin boy northern fleet, participant of the Great Patriotic War Vershinin Gennady Georgievich. He read excerpt from the story "Boys with bows" by Valentin Pikul.

"From the author
Youth ... She was unsettling, like a gust of wind that hit the folded wing of the sail.
This book is dedicated to youth - the difficult youth of the generation to which I have the honor to belong ... "
(V. Pikul "Boys with bows")

The guys were very enthusiastic. And after reading an excerpt from the book, Gennady Georgievich was asked a variety of questions: how he decided to fight, how he studied at school, how he was in battle for the first time, and much more. The students wanted to become, at least for a minute, the same cabin boy that our veteran once was. Everyone wanted to try on a peakless cap and feel on the deck of a torpedo boat.

May 4 Library "Spring" them. S. A. Zolottseva joined the International action"We read to children about the war-2016", dedicated to the Victory Day.
Nikonorova L.A., whose childhood fell on the dashing war years, was invited to a meeting with schoolchildren.

At the beginning of the event, a collective conversation took place, in which the presenter drew the attention of the guys to the fact that the war years were filled not only with pain, suffering, fear, despair, but, first of all, it was a time of courage, valor and glory. Then the guest of the library shared her memories of her military childhood. Laretta Alekseevna told how they were starving, how terrible it was for everyone during the bombing, how miraculously they managed to avoid death at the hands of the Nazis. She finished her speech lines of a poem by S.A. Zolottsev "And forty more years will pass, and sixty ...".

Next, the attention of the children was offered short story by Petras Zvirka "The Nightingale". And after reading, according to tradition, there was a discussion of the book. The children pondered over the questions: why the story was called "The Nightingale", how the boy passed information to the partisans, why his behavior with the Nazis can be called not only courageous, but also impudent. The children noted the courage and resourcefulness of the young hero.

On May 4, the Family Reading Library took part in the VII International Campaign “Reading to Children about the War”.
Students came to the meeting with the book primary school Secondary School No. 3, Pskov. In the introductory conversation, the presenter reminded the children about when and how the war began, why it is called the Great Patriotic War, what a high price the victory was won. With a minute of silence, the participants of the Action honored the memory of all those who gave their lives defending our Motherland.

For reading to schoolchildren was chosen Georgy Skrebitsky's story "The Troll's Misdemeanor". This is a story about two scouts and a service dog named Troll. At the end of the reading, there was a discussion of what was read. The guys talked about who the scouts were and what tasks they had to perform in the war, what qualities a scout should have, how four-legged friends helped our soldiers during the war and continue to help in peacetime, what “misconduct” the Troll committed in intelligence. And they absolutely rightly noted that it was not a “misconduct” at all, but a real heroic deed, because the Troll proved to be a real scout. Not finding himself, he was able not only to track down the enemy signalman, who turned out to be a white fox terrier dog, “skillfully dressed in a gray hare skin,” but also destroyed him.

In the second part of the event, schoolchildren met with Alla Petrovna Jafarova, a resident of the Ovsishche microdistrict, a library reader. "Children of war" - this is the name of those whose childhood coincided with the war. And Alla Petrovna is one of them. Indeed, in the victorious 1945, she was only 10 years old. Alla Petrovna shared with the children her memories of her childhood, which passed in the city of Baku, about her father, who fought and reached Berlin, about how, on the night of May 8-9, 1945, she found out that the war was over, and all people hugged each other with a friend, wept with happiness, rejoiced, rejoiced. Alla Petrovna also has favorite books about the war, among them "Green Chains" by G. Matveev, "The Fourth Height" by E. Ilyina, "Young Guard" by A. Fadeev. On the eve of Victory Day, the guys congratulated Alla Petrovna on the holiday, wished her good health and longevity.

The event ended with a reading poems by Olga Klimchuk “Let people not forget this Day!”, which has wonderful lines:

Let people not forget this Day!
May the Memory sacredly preserve those names,
Who brought VICTORY closer -
With their lives, crossed out, "war" ...
Four years of terrible trials! ..
PEACE TO THE FALLEN!
A bow to the rear! .. - to replace those who have risen! ..
To everyone who won the VICTORY - BOW TO THE EARTH!!!

And most importantly, they overcame their former whims, laziness, and fears. It was necessary not to break into crying or a rash act that could lead to death.
