How to start learning English with a child. English for kids. How to start language learning? Leading by example

We in Russia like to say: "He (she) speaks the language perfectly." There is no such concept in the "Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages" - language proficiency is determined by six levels (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2, while A1 is the lowest, and C2 is the highest).

These levels roughly correspond to the names of adult textbooks (Starter, Elementary A1, Pre-Intermediate - A2, Intermediate - B1, and so on).

The vast majority of materials for the age of 6-11 years (marked Primary) are at the level of A1-A2. That is, if you have been struggling with English for 5-10 years at school, college or courses, then the lexical and grammatical material of the children's textbook will be within your power (moreover, you will be able to explain it to the child). Vocabulary and grammar of the Upper-Intermediate and Advanced levels will not be actively involved in the near future (let's just say: by the time of the final exam in foreign language it would be nice for a teenager to have an Upper-Intermediate level).

You have time to improve your own English - "to go one step ahead of the child."

With other skills, the situation may be more difficult.

Pronunciation

Children will copy your pronunciation. If it is imperfect, it is necessary to actively use audio and video materials and strive to copy the speakers' speech.

It is worth dealing with the "Rungli" errors in your own speech and eliminate them before the child has time to adopt them.

Runglian speakers do not distinguish between open/closed and short/long vowels. For example, they pronounce the same /i/ (heat) and /ɪ/ (hit), /ɔ/ (port) and /ɒ/ (pot), /ɑ/ (heart) and /ʌ/ (hut), etc. d.

In Runglian, /æ/ (bad) sounds like /ɛ/ (bed).

At the end of a word, voiced consonants are pronounced as voiceless, so it is impossible to distinguish the word dog from dock, hard from heart, etc.

The absence of sounds /ð/ and /θ/ in Russian leads to the fact that, for example, the word thing can be pronounced as sing, and then pronounced as zen.

Remember the transcription icons and pay attention to the transcription of those words that you have to master with your child. Please note: the transcription symbols in British dictionaries and textbooks differ from those that we are used to seeing in Russian textbooks (not by much, don't be alarmed). It is not advisable to teach a child to read (especially write down) transcription at this level. I am sad to learn from my parents that in the first or second grade, having barely mastered the first English words, children began to study transcription. Parents need to know! And the child can use a speaking dictionary (Lingvo, for example).

Copy the pronunciation of phrases that you meet in audio and video courses.

Learn a few expressions of approval in English and try to use them. Well done! good job! You're good at it! Excellent! (praise often, but honestly). Listen to the intonation with which native speakers pronounce these phrases.

listening

It often turns out that skills are developed unequally. Some students speak well, read well, do grammar exercises flawlessly - and barely distinguish speech by ear. Which is not surprising if you remember what tape recorders were in the classrooms in the 90s and what they listened to. But nowadays, when English-language DVDs are at hand, youtube.com (where you can find lectures for adults in English on any topic, including grammar, vocabulary and phonetics), radio stations broadcast on the Internet, a parent can improve their knowledge in between.

One of the goals of learning a language at this age is to create positive motivation. act personal example. Show that you are interested in English. Let the child see that you are reading English articles, watching films (or educational videos for adults). Tell them that you will also learn new words and expressions. Remember interesting situations from your life related to a foreign language...

Everyday speech and classroom language

Sometimes this aspect is “forgotten” at school and university. It is easier for graduates to tell the history of England or talk about the economic situation than to remember phrases like “Nice to meet you”, “Where are you from” and “Could you pass the salt?”.

There are two options to fix the problem:
Work through speech stamps as they appear in a children's textbook
Prepare for each lesson certain speech stamps (related to situations), and try to use them more often.

Ideally, you should strive not to switch to Russian once again during the lesson.

Tutorials

According to an adult textbook (even for beginners from scratch), albeit very interesting, you should not study with a child either. The grammar and vocabulary will be the same there, but the topics for discussion, skits, projects will be completely different (age-appropriate).

From the whole variety of English, the British or American version of it is usually chosen for learning, less often - Mid-Atlantic English (American, close to British). I recommend doing BRITAIN English:
It is this option that you most likely studied yourself.
Features of American English Russian examiner can easily take for a mistake

You can use separate American materials, but try to avoid confusion. Understand the issue yourself (read about the difference between British and American spelling, grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary) - at least in order not to consider the American version a mistake.

So, the textbook you need is the British English Primary. This tutorial:
British
Represents training course not a development aid individual skills and skills (i.e. this is not a book for home reading and not grammar, but the main material for classes, combining work on speaking, reading and listening, and ideally also sections like learning to learn)
Written no more than 10-15 years ago
Designed for children of the appropriate age (sometimes it happens that a nine-year-old student can study according to a teenage textbook, but not according to an adult and not according to a textbook for preschoolers).

I do not recommend taking textbooks by Russian authors as the main course. British textbooks are built on the basis effective methods; they contain no errors, very few typos (Russian publishing houses manage to even publish a poster with the English alphabet with errors), they reflect state of the art language; they were piloted (i.e., groups were involved in the trial version of the textbook, and after that the author took into account the comments and suggestions); they are part of a large set of well-designed manuals (i.e., after finishing the textbook, you can easily move on to the next level of the textbook in the same series). At the same time, it should be noted that some British benefits in Lately were Russified - that is, Russian authors wrote their own explanations and additions to popular British manuals. If you are studying under the appropriate British allowance, such a book will be very useful.

Use the textbook, but do not try to complete all the tasks in the form suggested by the author; the teacher's book usually has alternative solutions.

Choose learning materials that are appropriate for your child's level of preparation. Study guides are usually marked like A1, A2, B1 or Starter, Elementary, Pre-Intermediate.

Additional materials

Studying exclusively from a textbook, even the most interesting, would be dreary. The textbook is a framework that allows you not to miss important topics, work within the existing level, move to the next level. And outside the textbook is the actual language, lively, interesting, bright. Tell us about the culture and history of England and the USA (in Russian) - and immediately pick up some material in VERY SIMPLE ENGLISH to illustrate this. Use video materials - sounding speech is perceived completely differently when it is accompanied by a video sequence.

Video courses

For this age, the Muzzy in Gondoland and Muzzy comes back video courses are great. This program was created twenty years ago, so you may have already seen a cartoon about a green alien who eats a clock, Bob the gardener who is in love with a princess, and an insidious long-nosed villain named Corvax. Highly recommend. The course can be found online. At the same time, it must be remembered that watching a cartoon itself, even if it is brilliant from a methodological point of view, is only a passive acquaintance with the material. After each part, use its material in games and exercises; sing the songs that you met in the cartoon (for example, you got the question Where are you from? - ask it to everyone you can: Winnie the Pooh, Barack Obama, the hero of the Japanese cartoon ... and let them answer!). The course includes interactive exercises, but it will be equally interesting to role-play the story.

Some video courses can be watched to reinforce what has been learned. For example, Wizadora! - video course just for this age; this is the story of a sorceress who does not always manage to conjure what she planned (available on torrents.ru)/

Of interest are 4 discs from the Oxford English Video series (listed from simple to complex): Three Billy-Goats; Goldilocks and the Three Bears; The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse; Aladdin. Of these tales, "Three Bears" and "Aladdin" are well known to Russian children. Each story has four songs that you can learn. The age limits of 5-9 years are very conditional. Not all nine-year-olds will enthusiastically study a fairy tale, some eleven-year-olds may find it interesting. But the tasks in the application come across quite complicated.

You don't have to learn English sitting still! Many well-known games (for example, the edible-inedible ball game) can be used to repeat English words (and also to move around and relieve tension). The Humpty Dumpty rhyme has this exercise: sit on the floor, pressing your knees to your chest and wrapping your arms around them. When you reach the words "Humpty Dumpty had a great fall", roll onto your back. Continuing to recite the rhyme and still holding your knees with your hands, try again to move to a sitting position. Whoever does it first wins.

You can repeat the vocabulary with the help of picture cards. At first you just name the pictures, then, when the words are already familiar, you play What's missing? , or, for example, put a card (without showing it) in an envelope with a small hole, and from a small fragment of the image, the child tries to guess what is shown on the card. There are a lot of card games.

Nursery Rhymes - nursery rhymes, sometimes very old ones. Therefore, they may contain, for example, obsolete grammatical forms. But that's no reason to give them up. Many of these poems are usually sung to a specific motive, sometimes the poems are accompanied by gestures or games. Worth watching as their American TV presenter shows
Cullen

The wheels on the bus
Old McDonald had a farm
Miss Polly had a dolly
Head, shoulders, knees and toes
If you're happy and you know it

Adapted books

This is exactly where there are cases when compliance with the level and age does not play such an important role, and you can take a book a little more complicated than a “framework” textbook. Choose reading materials that are related to your child's hobbies and life. When working with books for reading, I do not advise you to get involved in translation - there are many other ways to check the understanding of the text (which also help to consolidate new vocabulary).

One of the many “picture dictionaries” (sometimes books of exercises are attached) will come in handy. It is not bad to start mastering electronic dictionaries already at this stage.

Methodology

Try to look at the language not as a set of rules that you need to master, and then find application for them, but as a set of situations, each of which is “tied” to certain structures and vocabulary. Let's say, not "explain Present Simple, do exercises on it and try to use it in speech", but try to imagine what grammatical structures will be needed for the story “Our Family”, to analyze an example of such a story, and then give the child the opportunity to compose his own story based on speech patterns (in this case, the term Present Simple itself will be in the background).

It is important that classes do not turn into exclusively reading and solving grammatical “tasks”. A lesson in a textbook may be devoted to reading, listening, even writing - but in each lesson the student must speak. Naturally, in the target language - so do not forget about the classroom language.

Those who have a classroom at home are very lucky: there are many more objects and actions with them that can be discussed in English (remember what you can DO in a school class: open a book, go to the blackboard, take chalk, wipe the blackboard ... in in general, not so much). On initial stage there may be a silent period - only you speak, and the child shows a picture or performs an action that you called in English. The names of food products can be mastered on edible material.

Put away the textbook!

The spoken word must appear before the written word. Depending on how much earlier, one speaks of an oral basis of learning, oral anticipation, or oral presentation. educational material. In British textbooks for this age, level 1 often contains NO text to read - only speech and songs on the disc, and in the book - illustrations for sounding stories, exercises in pictures, coloring books (this is how colors are taught), paper figures with which to play skits. This is the "oral basis of learning". At the next stage, the text appears, but new words are still first pronounced, and only then appear in written form. At the same time, the problem of reading rules is partially solved: the child already pronounces the word correctly, it remains to correlate the pronunciation with the spelling.

We are accustomed to thinking of a foreign language textbook as a book with texts, and progress when working with such a book is quite obvious: at first we read simple short texts, then - long and complex. And with an oral basis of learning, the language becomes elusive, and it is more difficult for us to assess what path has already been traveled. Look at the tutorial in terms of features (eg: Introduction, greeting, and farewell). What did the child learn to talk about?

Don't turn class into an exam. “Come on, how will it be in English ...” - ask relatives and friends not to contact the child with such questions. If they are able to maintain a conversation in English or tell a fairy tale, this is wonderful, but there is no need to arrange a translation exam for the child (this is not learning a new one, and not working out a familiar one - these are words and phrases taken out of context). Vocabulary mastery is checked by tests within the textbook itself, and words from each topic “pop up” in the next one (as happens in a good textbook).

There is such a concept - exposure, which can be translated by the word "impact". In order to learn a language, you need to hear many, many examples of the language, and these examples should be varied, and in terms of level - a little bit. harder than that which we have already mastered. Ideally, I will say this again, in an English lesson you should speak only in English (it will not turn out right away).

Attitude towards errors

Don't try to fix all the mistakes. Errors are often divided into two types - errors and slips. Errors occur when a person simply does not know the correct option. Sometimes you can not talk about such a mistake (it is impossible to master all the rules at once). Slips - errors where the student already knows the rule. It is worth doing so that he can fix them himself. In order for a child to learn to speak English, he needs to speak often and a lot. If you stop at each mistake, then the speech will turn into a set of correctly pronounced words with long pauses between them.

Already at this stage, you can gradually master learning strategies (for example, how to learn words, how to use a dictionary).

When evaluating the results of classes, pay attention not only to how many words are mastered and what grammatical phrases the child has learned. There are achievements that are less “tangible”, but no less important (for example, independence in working with a topic, the ability to evaluate oneself, a creative approach to memorizing words). Together with your child, learn to come up with vivid examples for memorizing words.

Intersubject communications

Language is well learned when it turns from an end into a means (to achieve another end). Try to print a description of an interesting craft and make it.

Try to find very simple text on interesting to the child topic (difficult but real; you can even use text from an adult textbook for Starter or Elementary levels).

At the age of three, little fidgets with genuine interest learn about the world around them. And the more interesting things there are in this world, the better. So English for children 3 years old will be an exciting adventure. Young "researchers" are keenly interested in the new and unknown, and the unique possibilities of natural knowledge of things will help them perceive a foreign language literally on a subconscious level. How to properly conduct training sessions on English language with children of three or four years old we will tell in today's article.

A similar question is asked by every parent who is worried about the future of his child. Heated discussions and differences of opinion are also not uncommon among teachers: some advocate learning English “from the cradle”, while others believe that it is more rational to get acquainted with a foreign language before entering school.

Without going into the details of this controversy, let us single out its grain. The root of the problem lies in the excessive workload and "depriving children of their childhood." But the secret of success lies precisely in the fact that English lessons for children preschool age are carried out exclusively in game form. The method of teaching English for the little ones is not memorization, but an exciting game that organically fits into children's fun.

You can start learning English with a one-year-old baby, and with a child of 2 years old, and with children from 3 years old and older. The main thing is to develop students' sincere interest in English classes. Young children are open and very inquisitive in their own right, so it is not difficult to get them excited about a new activity. Moreover, the natural needs of cognition maximally include all the possibilities of the brain in the work. This gives kids ages 2 to 4 the following benefits:

  • easy perception of new information;
  • fast memorization;
  • natural imitation of foreign pronunciation;
  • no fear of speaking.

Learning foreign languages at an older age will no longer be accompanied by these favorable factors. Therefore, strike while the iron is hot. However, in order for English lessons for children of 3-4 years old to be really successful, before starting them, several nuances of child psychology should be taken into account.

How to explain English to children 3 years old - practical recommendations

So, you have decided to teach your child to speak English, but do not yet know where to start the first lessons. It is easy to start teaching children, the main thing is to remember the secret already said - no coercion, only a game!

We instill interest

Toddlers from 1 year and older actively explore the world, being interested in every unexplored part of it. The task of the parent in this case is to pick up this natural interest and develop it into an exciting game “occupation”. Playing toys with your child, tell him about the English language using the names of these items as an example. But do not immediately demand mandatory memorization and repetition: if the baby is interested, then later he himself will demonstrate the acquired knowledge.

Use any everyday situation to teach English. What do three year olds do most often? They ask questions. Answer them by adding English words to the sentences and explaining their meanings visually, i.e. showing items. The child learns the world through the eyes and sensations, so you should not make long verbal explanations that will quickly get bored and confuse the baby.

Let's not get bored

The main principle by which English is taught for children from the age of 3 is no violence. Your classes should not even remotely resemble school lessons. No "sit down and learn". We play English with children, and we play not at any particular time of the day, but in any suitable situation.

For example, invite your child to learn colors in English on a walk. Let the little one on all items containing green color, joyfully shouts Green! Or you can compete with your toddler to find the most green objects around. The reward for the game will again be a green delicacy: an apple, a pear, and for summer period Sweet watermelon will work too.

Such simple games give excitement and positive emotions, develop a craving for new knowledge and make it easy to learn and memorize new vocabulary.

We encourage success

Praise and good words pleasing even to serious adults, to say nothing of receptive to affection children who are only 3 or 4 years old.

Notice even small improvements in your child's knowledge. Respond to each correctly spoken phrase, inspiring and motivating the child to use English words more often in his speech and build whole sentences from them.

The expression of praise should not be dry and formal. Show more emotions, hug, kiss, circle, toss the baby, etc. Kids are acutely aware of falsehood, so the manifestation of delight must be sincere. Not bad, in addition to Russian praises, to actively use the vocabulary of the English language. We suggest using the expressions from the table below.

Leading by example

Often parents want to give their child something that they did not have, or to teach something that they themselves could not learn at one time. If in relation to English you have just such a situation, then get ready to start with changing your knowledge first of all.

If we teach a child a foreign language, then we ourselves must know it sufficiently. To do this, you need to allocate time and effort: enroll in a course, take online lessons or independently study materials for classes with a child. Not everyone is ready to take such a step, but remember that the education of your children depends on you. If you yourself do not develop and be interested in English, then the child, looking at the example of his parents, will consider learning foreign languages boring and unnecessary.

We have listed the main principles according to which English is taught to preschool children. Now, taking into account these recommendations, we will select the ways of presenting the material.

Teaching Methods

For modern education to instill in the child an interest in learning is a priority. Therefore, many methods and methods of teaching have been developed for both toddlers who are only one year old, and for older children. three years. The task of the parent is to try different ways of learning and track the reaction of the baby to them.

Cards

Card sets provide an opportunity to master thematic vocabulary with the baby. The small cardboard boxes are easy to use and the colorful drawings make them not only attractive and interesting, but also easy to understand for children. In addition, with the cards you can come up with a lot of fun activities that allow you to check how much the baby has learned the information.

The principle of learning with cards is simple: the parent shows the card and says the word, and the child looks at the picture and repeats what was said. It is important to note that this does not teach translation! With the help of a drawing, the child independently understands the meaning of the word, and lays it in his memory. To check what you have learned, use mini-games: guess the card according to the description, name the extra one in the row, find the missing one, etc.

For kids under 3 years old, you can buy or make large cards on your own, so that the child can stand on them. A path is collected from such cards, and the baby is led along it, naming a new card with each step. After the child memorizes the vocabulary, the path, on the contrary, is disassembled into separate “islands”. Now the parent calls the word, and the task of the baby is to quickly jump to the correct card.

Poems and songs

Another universal method that is suitable for kids of any age. Mom will carefully sing songs to one-year-old babies, and by the age of two, children are able to memorize the simplest lines on their own.

Well, English for children 4 and 5 years old is completely inextricably linked with memorizing poems and songs by heart, because. this method helps to replenish lexicon and improve your pronunciation. Also, a definite plus of rhymed lines is that whole phrases and contexts are studied, and not individual words.

It is important to note how to teach poetry in English with children. This should be done in stages.

  1. Pre-select the key words for understanding the poem and learn them with the child.
  2. Expressively read the verse, helping the baby navigate the pronunciation of the lines.
  3. Consider pictures for a poem or draw your own drawings with your child that reveal the content of the poem.
  4. Learning lines by heart.
  5. Periodic repetition of what has been learned.

Naturally, this amount of work is not done in one day. One poem takes several classes.

As for the songs, everything is much simpler here. The main thing is that the child likes the music, and the motive and words of the song will become attached by themselves. Today on the Internet you can find hundreds of educational songs for children, with which kids can quickly and cheerfully learn popular English words and expressions on various topics.

Fairy tales

Learning a language with the help of fairy tales also bears fruit. Of course, if the peanut is only in its second year, then it will be difficult for him to perceive a large amount of information. But children over 3 years old are already able to work in this form.

For classes, it is necessary to select either very short stories, or a foreign translation of Russian fairy tales already familiar to children. Working with a foreign version of a Russian fairy tale, the children learn to compare the English names of the characters, their words and actions with Russian counterparts that have settled in children's memory. It is important that the fairy tale is accompanied by interesting illustrations, then the child understand better text or just be able to get a little distracted from working with words.

Do not forget about the possibility of using audio versions of fairy tales. By the age of three, the baby can listen carefully and subconsciously remember the information he hears.

On our site there are several fairy tales, you can listen and watch them:

If you first work with the text, and then start listening to the characters' lines in audio, then the child will probably be able to name the talking character and understand his speech a little. Thus, children develop listening comprehension. In addition, the repetition of the characters' lines improves pronunciation and contributes to the replenishment of the active vocabulary.

Videos

In the digital age, it is no longer possible to imagine teaching English to preschoolers without the use of videos. Colorful animation instantly attracts the attention of both kids and adults. Even the songs we have already reviewed learn much faster if they are supplemented with a fascinating video sequence that clearly shows the meaning of sounding words.

It is with simple songs that you should start learning English from video. Here are all the contributors successful learning factors:

  • visual presentation of the material;
  • work on auditory perception;
  • imitate the correct pronunciation;
  • entertainment part (you can jump to the music, do exercises, dance, play).

In addition, songs for children in English tend to "sink" into memory even against their will, which contributes to the subconscious memorization of words and expressions.

After practicing on songs, start working with educational cartoons and fairy tales. Kids will love to follow the new adventures of their favorite characters, which means that English classes will definitely become desirable and long-awaited.

Games

And although English for children 3 or 4 years old is always a game form, we will single out the description of the games as a separate paragraph.

In fact, learning a foreign language can be combined with any game. If your baby is a fidget, then we advise you to play edible-inedible in English, hide and seek (with an English score), counting rhymes in English, card islands, or simply name the items you meet on a walk.

Calm and measured kids should buy cards and board games in English. Intelligent kids will enjoy games like guessing, bingo, letter swapping and word building.

Separately, we note computer and mobile applications. Educational computer games are carefully thought out: colorful design, clear voice acting, accessible explanations, and automated knowledge testing. In addition, most of the games contain a cross-cutting story, which further motivates children to learn English and complete assignments.

The possibilities of mobile applications are more modest. With them, the child can learn and repeat new words, listening to their pronunciation and matching with pictures. Some programs contain additional mini-games and videos, but these must be purchased separately.

In any case, when working with interactive digital applications, the parent must be close to the child and help him complete the tasks. If you just give your child a laptop or smartphone and leave him to play alone, then you will not achieve an effective result in learning. Remember that the child takes an example from his parents, and it is you who form a responsible attitude to English classes.

So, to sum up all of the above, highlighting the strong points.

  1. Teaching children foreign languages from an early age is possible, and even necessary, if you do not want to miss the chance given by nature to quickly and naturally master new information.
  2. Classes are always held in the form of a game. Only the interest and passion of the child give an effective result and success.
  3. All the nuances of child psychology are taken into account. It is necessary to encourage kids more often, not to focus too much attention on mistakes, to increase motivation to practice by one's own example.
  4. Parents choose the teaching method on their own, but if necessary, correct it, monitoring the reaction of the baby and the success of the task.
  5. Lessons are not fixed in time. The duration of the lesson depends on the mood and abilities of the baby.

By following these tips, you will competently build educational process and instill in your child an interest in foreign languages, without in any way infringing on his rights to a happy and carefree childhood. Good luck in your endeavors and see you soon!

Many adults and children learn English . Our family is also passionate about learning it. Our interest arose due to the fact that my daughter started learning English at school. About my personal experience learning a foreign language is told by Zlata, a 5th grade student.

Now English is generally accepted - in any country it is understood. Some parents start teaching their children English from early age by newfangled methods or with tutors in various schools ...

Learn English

But for some children, acquaintance with English begins only at school. And this is where they get in trouble! After all, a sea of new information will flood over them, which must not only be learned, but also understood.

Today I want to tell you how I learned English from scratch.

I'll start with my history of acquaintance with foreign languages.

I became interested in foreign languages from the age of three. My dad is fluent in German and he taught me the simplest words "mom-dad-grandmother-grandfather-hello-goodbye".

As a child, interests change quickly and I abandoned German seriously interested in reading and sculpting.

When I was 4 years old, my mother took me to English courses, but I did not like them.

I resumed my acquaintance with languages at the age of five. I was presented with video courses "English with Piggy and ..." I began to actively study the manuals, but after watching a few episodes, I got tired of it, and again abandoned the languages.

Soon I signed up for music school, where I had to learn terms in Italian and works in Ukrainian. But, although I really liked the music school, I had to take a break until the second grade, because after enrolling in the music school I broke my arm - I had to stop classes.

And now it's time to go to general education school. When I found out that we do not teach German, French and Italian, I was upset. Being a naive child, I thought that I already knew these three languages. The fact that languages are very complex sciences, I realized a little later.

I moved to the second grade, and in the second grade we start learning English. Our teacher was kind - she put fives to everyone who did homework. And our homework was very simple: write letters, which I naturally did easily.

But, from time to time, the teacher asked additional difficult questions that she did not grade. But I evaluated myself, because in my studies I always strive to be the first. I could not always answer some questions and this made me very sad. I was particularly offended by the fact that some of my classmates, who were additionally studying at the school of foreign languages, knew the answers to the teacher's questions.

It is impossible to learn English by simply writing letters. I realized that there are not enough school classes for learning a foreign language, so I decided .

To begin with, I began to memorize words in a wonderful program. The program is wonderful, with its help, in a year I learned about four thousand words.

Then I began to learn the language with the help of cards "Twos - no!" With their help, I consolidated the words learned in the VX MEMO. I didn't just look at these cards. We played cards with the whole family, arranging real competitions with their help: we took a card and tried to say its translation faster than other players.

Finally, I began to study grammar with the help of the book " Modern Encyclopedia elementary school. English language” by G. P. Shalaeva . A handy book that presents quite a few examples of colloquial speech, words - exceptions, rules, riddles.

The BX MEMO program, flashcards and grammar books were enough for me to catch up and overtake my class. Now, at every lesson, I received not only an A for homework, but also 2-3 A's for work in class.

The English language is very interesting to me. And in the third grade I started reading English literature. I have read about 20 books in English, including several books on .

English interested me more and more and my parents enrolled me in individual sessions with repeater. Soon, I began to speak English quite fluently.

In addition to English, I also started learning French a little.

In the fourth grade, I decided that there was no need to study with a tutor, as I found a wonderful service (LinguaLeo).

The service fascinated me so much that I studied English all my free time. I watched the video, listened to the audio, read the texts.

The training paid off. English Olympiads started in the fourth grade. I won first place among six parallel classes. True, I was not alone in the first place. It turned out that I scored one point more than another girl from the parallel, but the jury considered such a difference not significant - they awarded the first place to two at once.

Shortly after the Olympics, I stumbled upon the reality show Polyglot. The show seemed very interesting to me, and I began to watch it. Here you can easily and simply learn the grammar of the language, new words. I recommend everyone to watch it and feel how your English will improve. Mine, for example, has improved a lot. I realized this on vacation in Turkey, when I was able to make foreign friends with whom we spoke English. They were residents of Serbia, Germany, England, France and Macedonia.

I wish you all success in learning foreign languages, because learn English on your own easy and interesting.

So, since you are reading this page, it means that you are serious about learning English with your child, and you have absolutely right choice! And now I will explain why. First, young children, unlike adults, have unique ability imitate the pronunciation of new words and sounds for them. Children learn quite easily in the process of playing activities, you played with your child for two to three weeks in interactive games, and one fine day he told you instead of the usual: “From Good morning, mom ”, murmur: Good morning mother!. Given the individual abilities and degree of development of each child, it is rather difficult to give a specific answer to this question. But most experts agree that English classes using this method can be carried out with children aged 3-10 years. Up to 3 years is meaningless, and after 10 this technique will not give a positive result, since the child's brain has a specialized ability for a foreign language, which decreases significantly with age. The brain mechanisms of speech become less flexible and can no longer adapt so easily to new conditions. In order to motivate a child to replenish vocabulary, it is necessary to awaken his interest in English by learning with him simple poetry, in which among familiar words and phrases there will be one or two words in English. For better perception, toys and various objects can be used so that the child has a more accurate idea of what is being said. Even in the process of children learning their native language, there is a “period of silence”, this is when the child looks and listens before he begins to speak. A similar period may exist in the study of English, children are already beginning to understand the meaning of what was said, but they do not speak English. During this period, you should not force the child to repeat the English phrases and words you have spoken. Be patient, let your communication be one-sided during this period, and after a while, depending on the regularity of classes, each child begins to pronounce individual words or individual phrases heard earlier. Of course, the first English words will not be pronounced perfectly, but you do not need to focus the child's attention on the mistakes made, just repeat the correct version of what he said. Now you know what exactly you need to pay special attention to when teaching your baby English, and you can safely start learning, but do not forget that learning should take place in a fun and comic form, because that's what he Entertaining English!

And the first step to achieve this goal will be

Today I want to talk about how to teach a child English without causing resistance on his part. How to teach a child so that he himself asks you to conduct a lesson with him.

In order for a child to start speaking English, it is necessary that he first had a desire to learn the language. It is obvious.

Therefore, how to conduct classes in such a way as to stimulate the child's desire and create ideal conditions for comfortable language learning is a topical issue for many parents.

The quick answer is school, additional classes in circles or with a tutor. But every teacher understands that 1.5-2 hours a week is clearly not enough for the child to speak the language.

Look at the iceberg. Its top is the classes at school! And a huge layer is hidden under water - this is homework with a child.

All teachers are aware of this and therefore assign homework assignments that the child must complete on their own. But for the most part, these are constantly boring grammar exercises that are not interesting for children and do not motivate them in any way.

Or memorizing the material by heart, but without understanding why it is necessary. It is learning a language for the sake of the language or for the sake of a good grade. No one even remembers about comfortable conditions.

Many have heard that in order to successfully learn English, you need to immerse yourself in language environment. But it seems that this is simply not enough time to learn the language 24 hours a day.

In fact, everything is much easier. There is such a thing as language environment at home. This does not mean that you should devote all your time to teaching your child. The main thing is to correctly create and organize the process itself!

With a reasonable approach, it is possible to create an environment for the baby that will work for him without you. For example, if you are at home, turn on the studied songs during the free play of the child, then he will quietly begin to sing them under his breath. You go about your business, and the child practices speaking and pronunciation.

But to create a really working language environment at home. Here it is necessary to take into account three important components - the teacher, parents and the child. Trinity. It must be full cooperation from three sides is magic formula in English.

If you are a parent, then you should always ask the teacher which books are more suitable for you to read, or which films and cartoons to watch, so that this comes up with the main lessons. Find out what activities will help motivate your child.

If you are a teacher, it is important for you to work fully with parents. My experience shows that this principle allows you to achieve greater results. Vivid examples are my students - very quickly they reach a completely different level of knowledge of the language.

Principle individual work with parents and creation language environment at home for each student is the main element of my work. We negotiate in detail and draw up a plan based on individual characteristics child. We analyze in detail which songs are better to listen to, which films will be more interesting, which games to play with it and much more.

In such cooperation, it is very important that everyone takes their place. The teacher is required to develop a lesson plan and draw up a program according to which you will study with your child. This is his direct responsibility, and not the concern of parents.

The educator should supervise the learning process and adapt the plan as needed. Present and submit material, as well as monitor the completion of assignments.

Parents are required to inspire the child, create a cozy language environment for him at home, with the means that the teacher offers you. Apply all his instructions and provide support.

As you can see from my practice, if you, as a parent, start to take on the role of a teacher, try to make a plan, develop a program, then this is the surest way to ruin all learning. This does not work!

Parents then do not have enough time, because they have put a lot on themselves. And they quit, as a result of which both they and the children get nervous and nothing good comes of it. Often children refuse to study, experiencing discomfort.

Teaching English to a child with one command is easier and more comfortable for him. Children always learn better what is interesting and curious to them. Together, we can create the perfect learning experience for a child that is both educational and rewarding.

Success in learning!
