Admission to St Petersburg University 2016: new rules
On November 16, Saint Petersburg State University published information about the organization of admissions in 2016. Applicants who graduate from schools with gold or silver medals will be able to receive 3 additional points when entering St Petersburg University. The same number of points will be awarded to those who will be awarded the “Ready for Labor and Defense” (RLD) gold badge. The First Vice-Rector of St Petersburg University for educational and educational work Ekaterina Babelyuk.
— The procedure for admission to study in educational programs of higher education, approved by the Order of the Ministry of Education and Science Russian Federation dated 10/14/2015 No. 1147, regulates a number of innovations in the upcoming admissions campaign.
According to the document, the procedure for admission to Russian universities in 2016 provides for a number of changes. Among the most important for applicants who will enter bachelor's and specialist's educational programs are the features of accruing points for the individual achievements of students. So, for example, only the gold badge of the TRP physical culture and sports complex will now be taken into account as individual achievements of applicants. A maximum amount points awarded for individual achievements of applicants for bachelor's and specialist's programs at Russian universities cannot exceed 10 points.
In addition, in accordance with the Order of the Ministry, this year's innovations will also affect those applicants who will enter master's programs: entrance examinations for master's programs are "postponed" from July to August 2016.
I would like to note that on November 16, information about the rules for admission to our university in 2016 was published on the St Petersburg University portal (see , ). Here is the entire list of individual achievements for which our applicants entering the bachelor's and specialist's programs will be awarded additional points. So, for example, applicants who will be awarded gold or silver medals at the end of school will be able to receive 3 additional points when entering St Petersburg University. The same number of points will be awarded to those whose achievements will be marked with a gold badge of distinction “Ready for Labor and Defense” (TRP).
Let me emphasize that for several years in a row St. Petersburg State University has been waiving its right to conduct additional tests profile orientation in admission to bachelor's and specialist's programs. The 2016 reception will be no exception. As in previous years, we will conduct additional entrance tests only for applicants entering creative areas of training, such as Journalism, Acting, Painting, Vocal Art, etc. All additional entrance tests will be organized at St Petersburg University from 8 to 24 July 2016.
In addition, it should be noted that we have significantly expanded the list of educational programs. In 2016, St Petersburg University opens admissions to 20 new master's programs. Among them - "Information and nuclear technology”, “Islamic studies”, “Comprehensive study environment Polar Regions (CORELIS)”, “International Commercial Arbitration”, etc. There will be two ways to apply for admission to master’s programs: in electronic-digital form through the official website of St. Petersburg State University (from March 1 to August 10, 2016) and in full-time through the commission for receiving documents (from July 11 to August 10, 2016). Entrance examinations for master's programs will be held from 11 to 18 August 2016.

Department "Ecology and nature management"
Comparison with the situation of the previous year is impossible, since since 2016 this department does not require the Unified State Examination in biology, and an additional entrance test is conducted in geography. Therefore, it is recommended to focus on information about the faculties to which other applicants have submitted original documents on education and passing scores for these faculties: http://www.msu.ru/entrance/pr-b.html
Total budget places at the department 25 . Without exams, according to special and target quotas enrolled 5 people, places left for the general competition 20 . At the first stage, it was enrolled 16 applicants who submitted the original document on education and consent to enrollment before 18:00 on August 1. The remaining applicants remain in the competition until 18:00 August 6 when all budget places are filled, including those vacated in the event that previously enrolled applicants withdraw their documents. IN currently the number of free budget places - 5 .
Applicants who found themselves in the list below 5 positions according to the originals can apply to the admissions office to conclude an agreement about paid education. Number of places under contracts for the provision of paid educational services: 5.
In 2016, a limitation was introduced on the number of opportunities to apply for consent to enrollment in the amount of two at a university. In this regard, it is advisable to first submit an application for consent and the original certificate to that university and to the direction of training that is your priority, if the points scored give some chance to enter there - and transfer the certificate to a less priority place, but with greater chances for admission only if statements of consent from persons with more than high scores will be submitted so much that it makes your admission to budgetary places impossible. Otherwise, you run the risk of exhausting the specified limit and losing the opportunity to return to the competition that you had the opportunity to endure.
IMPORTANT: Applicants' plans are constantly changing, so stay tuned for updates.

St Petersburg University presents a portrait of the 2016 applicant
On August 4, the Interfax-North-West press center hosted a press conference dedicated to the results of the “first wave” of enrollment at St. Petersburg State University. How the minimums have changed USE scores Ekaterina Babelyuk, First Vice-Rector for Academic, Extracurricular and Methodological Work, and her Deputy, Executive Secretary of the SPbU Admissions Committee, Alexander Babich, told about the requirements for applying to the university and what the first-year students will be like this year.
Opening the press conference, Ekaterina Babelyuk noted that 1,748 people were enrolled at St Petersburg University as part of the "first wave", who occupied 85.56% of the total number of state-funded places allocated to the University for admission in 2016. About 2,000 state-funded places have been allocated for applicants who enroll in undergraduate and specialist studies this year, and in total, taking into account master's, residency, postgraduate, secondary vocational and general education programs, the University has almost 5,000 state-funded places.
The interim results of admission in 2016 confirmed again: students dream of studying at St Petersburg University the best graduates schools from all over the country. So, almost half of those enrolled (861 people) have 100 points in at least one subject of entrance examinations. The students had to endure serious competition — the most talented and well-prepared applicants were admitted to St Petersburg University as part of the “first wave” of admissions.
Among those who entered were 350 prize-winners and winners of Olympiads for schoolchildren, a third of whom received awards at the All-Russian intellectual competitions. It was these gifted guys who took 70% of the total number of budget places allocated for admission to the program "Fundamental Mathematics", 60% of the places - to the program "Mathematics", 50% of the places - to the program "Applied Informatics in the Field of Arts and humanities”, and a significant part of the places in a number of other programs.
“Although St Petersburg University has the right to conduct additional entrance examinations, we deliberately refuse to do so and accept only USE results. I note that in last years an indicator of the quality and prestige of the highest educational institution becomes precisely GPA USE enrolled in the university. And in this regard, our University shows very good dynamics,” said Ekaterina Babelyuk.
Values minimum points The USE for applying to St Petersburg University was once again raised this year and on average turned out to be above 65 points. As a result, the children enrolled in the new educational program "Jurisprudence (with in-depth study Chinese and PRC law)”, the average USE score was 96.5; and those enrolled, for example, in "Fundamental Mathematics" - 90.33 (8.81 more than in 2015).
The Vice-Rector noted that most of these applicants are school graduates from other regions of Russia. The geography of admission to the University has expanded again this year: out of 11,655 people who applied to St Petersburg University, about 9,000 are from other cities. And among those enrolled in the framework of the “first wave”, guys from other regions make up three-quarters of all enrolled. The leaders in terms of the number of applicants were: Krasnodar Territory, the Republic of Bashkortostan and Chelyabinsk region. Answering journalists' questions, Alexander Babich said that foreign citizens There are also more people wishing to enter the first university in Russia. Among them are residents of China, Korea, Brazil, Indonesia and Finland.
This year, the University noted an increase in the interest of applicants in the natural sciences and physics and mathematics areas. Thus, the competition for such educational programs as: "Fundamental Mathematics", "Mathematics" and "Hydrometeorology" has increased significantly. Humanitarian specialties were also traditionally in demand: “State and municipal government”, “International Journalism”, “Personnel Management” and others.
Great success with applicants enjoyed educational program“Jurisprudence (with in-depth study of Chinese language and PRC law)”, admission for which this year was opened for the first time. Ekaterina Babelyuk said that in the near future, St Petersburg University plans to launch several more areas of training related to Sinology. They will relate to culture, socio-economic and political development PRC, Chinese journalism and tourism features of the state.
For information: Those who did not find themselves in the enrollment orders following the results of the “first wave” still have a chance to become universitarians. Ahead of the "second wave" of enrollment, in addition, until August 9, the acceptance of applications for bachelor's and specialist's programs for places with payment of tuition fees will last. The final results of 2016 admission to St Petersburg University will be summed up on September 22.
